Product Usage Instructions

Pump Bleeding Instructions

  1. Depressurize the pump and disconnect hydraulic coupler and hose from the control manifold.
  2. In an upright position, remove the oil filler plug and fill the reservoir with oil. Reinstall the plug.
  3. Connect the pump air supply and place the pump on a bench with the hose hanging off the bench top.
  4. Depress the pump pedal for 5 seconds, followed by a 10-second interval. Repeat this process 5 times.
  5. Check oil level and ensure the pump stalls when all air is removed from the valve and hose assembly.
    Spring Compressor Ram Bleeding Instructions:
  6. Reconnect the pump hose to the Press control manifold and place the pump on the floor.
  7. Turn the switching tap to spring compressor and extend the ram to 50% of travel. Hold for 20 seconds.
  8. Depress the release pedal to retract the compressor. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to remove air.
  9. Check oil volume in the pump and top up if necessary.
    Press Ram Bleeding Instructions:
  10. Turn the switching tap to PRESS and extend the ram to 50% of travel. Hold for 20 seconds.
  11. Release the pedal to retract the ram. Repeat steps 10 and 11 to remove air.
  12. Recheck oil volume in the pump and top up if needed.
Under Car Press Tool Bleeding Instructions:
  13. In an upright position, fill the reservoir with oil. Reinstall the plug.
  14. Connect the pump air supply and place it on a bench with the hydraulic hose connected to the Under Car Press Tool.
Fault Description:
The usual symptoms of a pump and ram combination with air in the system are as follows.
  • No advance in the ram/ram’s stroke while operating the pump.
  • Air motor operates rapidly but no movement of the Ram/Rams.
  • Ram jumps forward while being advanced.
  • Ram will not fully retract.

Pump Bleeding Instructions

  1. Depressurise pump and disconnect hydraulic coupler and hose from the control manifold.TQR-WSM4-Workshop-Mate-FIG- (1)
  2. With pump in its upright, horizontal position, remove the oil filler plug located on the top plate of the reservoir. Use a small funnel to fill reservoir to within 19mm of the opening. Wipe up any spilled fluid and reinstall the oil filler plug.TQR-WSM4-Workshop-Mate-FIG- (2)
  3. Connect the pump air supply and place the pump on a bench with the hose hanging off the bench top.TQR-WSM4-Workshop-Mate-FIG- (3)
  4. Depress the pump pedal end marked “pump “position for 5 seconds to allow the pump to operate, stop depressing the pedal at 5 seconds then leave the pump and hose for 10 seconds for trapped air to settle. Repeat this procedure 5 times, then check oil level as described in step 2.
Note: The Pump should stall when all air has been removed from the pump valve and hose assembly. TQR-WSM4-Workshop-Mate-FIG- (4)
  5. At this point the Pump Assembly should be bled of air, however if the symptoms described at the beginning of this instruction persist repeat steps 1 to 5.
Spring Compressor Ram Bleeding Instructions: (Follow from Step 6)
  6. Reconnect the pump hose to the Press control manifold and place the pump on the floor beside the press lower frame.TQR-WSM4-Workshop-Mate-FIG- (5)
  7. Turn the switching tap to “spring compressor” and depress the pump pedal and extend the spring compressor ram to approximately 50% of travel. Hold in this position for 20 seconds to allow air to settle.TQR-WSM4-Workshop-Mate-FIG- (6)
  8. Depress the release pedal and allow the spring compressor to fully retract. Repeat steps 7 and 8 three to four times to remove any air in the ram or hosesTQR-WSM4-Workshop-Mate-FIG- (7)
  9. Recheck the oil volume in the pump as per step 2 and top up as necessary.
Press Ram Bleeding Instructions: (Follow from Step 10)
  10. Turn the switching tap to “PRESS” and depress the pump pedal and extend the press ram to approximately 50% of travel. Hold in this position for 20 seconds to allow air to settle.TQR-WSM4-Workshop-Mate-FIG- (8)
  11. Depress the release pedal and allow the press ram to fully retract.
Repeat steps 10 and 11 three to four times to remove any air in the ram or hoses.
  12. Recheck the oil volume in the pump as per step 2 and top up as necessary.
Under Car Press Tool Bleeding Instructions: (Follow from Step 13)
  13. With pump in its upright, horizontal position, remove the oil filler plug located on the top plate of the reservoir. Use a small funnel to fill reservoir to within 19mm of the opening. Wipe up any spilled fluid and reinstall the oil filler plug.TQR-WSM4-Workshop-Mate-FIG- (9)
  14. Connect the pump air supply and place the pump on a bench with the hose hanging off the bench top. Connect the hydraulic hose to the Under Car Press Tool using the coupler and place the Under Car Press Tool upright on the floor with the coupler at the top.TQR-WSM4-Workshop-Mate-FIG- (10)
  15. Depress the “PUMP” end of the pump pedal and extend the press ram to approximately 50% of travel. Hold in this position for 20 seconds to allow air to settle. Then depress the release until the ram has fully retracted. Repeat these steps two to three times.
  16. With pump in its upright, horizontal position, remove the oil filler plug located on the top plate of the reservoir. Use a small funnel to fill reservoir to within 19mm of the opening. Wipe up any spilled fluid and reinstall the oil filler plug.

At this point the Pump, Spring Compressor Ram, Press Ram and Under Car Press Tool should be free of air and ready for operation.
