STEP A Keypad and Standard Mode
There are three main modes on the S15 keypad: Standard Mode, Program Mode, and Monitor Mode. Each mode can be accessed via the MODE key.
The setting dial is used to scroll up or down. Pressing the center of the dial allows access to a parameter setting, and pressing again saves any changes.
Standard Mode displays the Output Frequency in the main window by default. This can be programmed to other monitor items via parameter f710. Section 1.3 of the S15 Instruction Manual E6582175 provides fur-ther details.
STEP B Program Mode
All programming is done through Program Mode with the exception of a panel frequency command. The following describes the Program Mode menu tree.
- The panel frequency command is accessed by adjusting the setting dial while in Standard Mode. When saving a change, the display will flash FC.
- The history function displays the last 5 parameters that have been changed. If there is no history, then aua is displayed. cmod is displayed as a theoretical first value.
- Basic parameters are the most common and fundamental parameters for drive control. This list includes run command selection, frequency command selection, accel/decel rates, freqeucny limits, etc. Use the touch wheel in the clockwise or counter-clockwise direction to scroll through the parameter list.
- Extended parameters encompass most of the parameters in terms of quantity. It is separated by groups of 100 parameters.
- Advanced parameters are used for custom logic My Function programs.
- Communication parameters are detailed in each option manual, and require power cycling to initialize.
- The Changed From Default search function will allow the user to scan the S15’s parameter settings and display only the ones that have been changed from default. This allows the user to verify the changed parameters and catch other programming mistakes. Rotating he setting dial initiates the search. Rotate the setting dial in the same direction each time to ensure a complete search. Searched parameter settings can be viewed by pressing the center of the setting dial. gru will appear when it is complete.
STEP C Monitor Mode
Monitor Mode displays the real time data of the VFD. This data is held during a trip condition. The monitor items include rotation, frequency, current, voltage, power, torque, terminal status, communication status, trip history, parts alarm status, cumulative run time, and number of starts.
The output current is displayed in units of % by default. This is a percentage of the VFD’s output current rating. Typically, it is more helpful to read this number directly in units of Amps. Setting parameter f701 to 1: A(ampere) , V(volt) changes the unit from % to A.
The trip history for the S15 stores the last 8 past trips. Past trip 1 is the most recent, and past trip 8 is the oldest trip. Details and data from the time at trip can be accessed by pressing the center of the setting dial. If there are no additional past trips, then nerr is displayed.
The input terminal screen displays the status of the standard digital inputs. This allows for troubleshooting customer controls. By default, the dash for VIA and VIB will not be present. These dashes only appear if these terminals have been changed to a digital input.
