Introduction
SuperMax Panic Alarm feature allows the logged-in user on any SuperMax device to send a signal of alert. Once the feature is enabled, any officer with a SuperMax will be able to press the ‘Alarm’ button. Pressing this button only sends a signal to the Desktop Client. If facilities have other emergency hardware such as a Tower Light, this feature can be configured to set that off as well.
How to enable the feature:
The feature is disabled by default in the server settings under:
System Tab → System → Mobile Device Panic Alarm Settings
Note: Only users with the ‘Guard1System’ role will have access to this setting.
To enable the feature, click the check box next to “Enable Panic Alarm button on SuperMax Devices”
Once the box is checked, two additional settings will become available.
- Enable audible warning – Enables a vibrating warning on the SuperMax when the Panic Alarm is pressed
- Enable vibrating warning – Enables a vibrating warning on the SuperMax when the Panic Alarm is pressed
Don’t forget to click the ‘Save’ button on the bottom of the screen to save the selected settings
How to use the feature
Once the Panic Alarm feature is enabled (see above for details), any user with a SuperMax can initiate a Panic Alarm. To do this, login to the SuperMax and select a duty post. Once on the main screen of the Guard1 Mobile app, you’ll notice a red button icon:
Click the Panic Alarm button to enter the panic alarm mode.
Then click the big red button:
Once this button is pressed, a signal is sent directly to the Guard1 Server and displays an alert on the Guard1 Desktop Client: (See below)
Once the alarm is pressed, there are two additional buttons available:
- Send a message – This allows the user to add a message along with their Panic Alarm
- Cancel and exit – This cancels the current panic alarm and returns the user to the main screen
Sending a message
To demonstrate this, we will type a message that states “Feature guide tutorial”:
Once the submit button is pressed, the message will appear in the active alert in the Guard1 desktop client under the ‘Description’ column:
Conclusion
The SuperMax Panic Alarm feature is meant to serve as a method of an officer/staff alert system. If an individual is in some situation where they wish to silently request assistance or in the unlikely event they get trapped in an area of the facility, this method allows the user to request assistance.
Note: This system is NOT a replacement for a staff duress system and should not be used as such. It is recommended that the facility provide a secondary method for life-threatening situations.
