Filter Media Installation

3. Rinse all filter media (mechanical, biological, chemical) thoroughly under clean water before placing them into the designated baskets.
4. Place the media baskets back into the filter canister in the correct order (refer to the diagram in the included quick start guide for specific layering).

Hose and Adapter Connection

1. Connect the inlet and outlet hoses to the filter's hose adapters. Ensure a tight fit to prevent leaks.
2. Attach the intake pipe assembly to the inlet hose and the spray bar/return pipe assembly to the outlet hose.
3. Position the intake and return assemblies securely within your aquarium.

Priming Filter

Before plugging in the filter, it must be primed to remove air and fill with water.

1. Ensure the filter is positioned below the aquarium water level.
2. Open the shut-off valves on the hose adapter unit.
3. Repeatedly press the priming button on the filter head until water begins to flow into the filter and air is expelled from the outlet hose. Continue until the filter is completely filled with water and no more air bubbles are visible.
4. Once primed, plug the filter into a grounded electrical outlet.

Starting the Filter

After successful priming, the filter will start automatically once plugged in. You should observe water flowing from the spray bar into the aquarium.

The Eheim Pro 4+ 600 features adjustable flow control. Use the integrated flow regulator on the hose adapter unit to increase or decrease the water flow rate as needed for your aquarium's inhabitants and filtration requirements.

Range Xtender Function

The Range Xtender Function allows for extended intervals between filter cleanings. If the flow rate significantly decreases, activate the Range Xtender by pressing the red button on the filter head. This will redirect water flow through a different path within the filter, temporarily restoring flow and allowing you more time before a full cleaning is required.

Reassembly

Reassemble the filter by following the setup instructions in reverse order. Ensure all components are correctly seated and the filter head is securely clamped. Reprime the filter before plugging it back in.
