This manual provides detailed instructions for the operation and maintenance of your Korg Volca Beats Analog Rhythm Machine. The Volca Beats is a compact and portable analog rhythm machine designed for creating dynamic drum patterns with real analog sounds and an intuitive 16-step sequencer.

1. Power Supply
The Korg Volca Beats can be powered by either batteries or an optional AC adapter (sold separately).

3. Synchronization (SYNC In/Out)
The Volca Beats can be synchronized with other Volca series units or compatible devices using the SYNC In and SYNC Out jacks. Use a 3.5mm mono mini-jack cable for connection.
- SYNC Out: Connect to the SYNC In of another device to send clock signals.
- SYNC In: Connect to the SYNC Out of another device to receive clock signals.
4. MIDI Connection (MIDI In)
Connect an external MIDI device (such as a MIDI keyboard, sequencer, or DAW interface) to the MIDI In jack using a standard 5-pin DIN MIDI cable. This allows for note entry, external clock synchronization, and control from your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW).

2. Sound Creation and Editing
The Volca Beats features both analog and PCM sound engines. Analog sounds (Kick, Snare, Tom, Hi Hat, Lo Hat) offer real-time parameter control, while PCM sounds (Clap, Claves, Agogo, Crash) are pre-recorded samples.
- Analog Drum Parts: Each analog drum part has dedicated knobs for parameters like Pitch, Decay, Click, Snappy, Hi Pitch, Lo Pitch, Closed Decay, Open Decay, and Grain. Experiment with these to sculpt your desired sound.
- PCM Drum Parts: The PCM section allows selection of different PCM samples (Clap, Claves, Agogo, Crash) and adjustment of their playback speed.
3. 16-Step Sequencer
The Electribe-style 16-step sequencer allows for intuitive pattern creation.
- Step Buttons (1-16): These buttons represent the 16 steps of the sequencer. Press a step button to turn it on (light up) or off (dark).
- Step Record: Press the 'Step Rec' button to enter step recording mode. Play drum parts, and they will be recorded into the sequence.
- Rekaman Waktos Nyata: Press the 'Play' button to start playback, then press 'Record' to enter real-time recording mode. Play drum parts on the touch keys, and they will be recorded into the sequence.
- Active Step: Use the 'Active Step' function (Func + Step Button) to skip steps in the sequence, creating shorter loops or variations.
- Step Jump: While the sequencer is playing, hold 'Step Jump' and press a step button to instantly jump to that step.

4. Memory Patches
The Volca Beats can store up to eight (8) user-created patterns.
- Saving a Pattern: Hold the 'Write' button and press one of the 1-8 step buttons to save the current pattern to that memory slot.
- Recalling a Pattern: Hold the 'Memory' button and press one of the 1-8 step buttons to load a saved pattern.
5. Stutter Function
The 'Stutter' function creates glitch or delay-like effects by repeating a short segment of the sound. Adjust the 'Time' and 'Depth' knobs to control the stutter effect's characteristics.
6. Motion Sequence Recording
The Volca Beats allows you to record knob movements (parameter changes) into your sequence, adding dynamic variation to your patterns.
- Recording Motion: While in real-time recording mode, turn any knob. The movements will be recorded and played back with the sequence.
- Clearing Motion: Hold 'Func' and press 'Motion Rec' to clear recorded motion data for the current pattern.
