Before Installation
Combining (Cable) TV Signals from Service Provider (e. g. Comcast)
· In order to combine the existing TV broadcasting channels from Service Provider, it’s necessary to select an out put f requency and out put channel f or Modulat or out put . The channel inf ormat ion of
local over-t he-air broadcast ing or local Cable TV service can normally be f ound online or f rom
t he channel list ing provided by Service Provider. · For business installers, a spectrum analyzer up to 1 GHz can be helpful to make the installation
easier and f ast er alt hough it ‘ s not mandat ory. · If the Modulator output is going to feed a Digital Cable Converter box or a set-top box, some Service
Providers of f er a dedicat ed channel (and f requency) f or modulat ed video and some Service Providers may need a specific PID to be configured by the Modulator for MPEG streams to be recognized by the set -t op box. Ref er t o t he sect ion of MPEG Transport Stream Parameters for PID setup. · If the output power level of the Modulator is too high, it may oversaturate the TV signals delivered by Service Providers. It’ necessary to lower the output power level or use an attenuator to reduce oversat urat ion.
Choose Output Frequency for Modulator Output
· Modulat ed out put f requency can be any exist ing channel f requency available f rom local Channel Plan.
· Depending on t he modulat ion t echnique of over-t he-air broadcast ing TV or Cable TV used in t he area,
ref er t o t he corresponding appendix f or Channel Plan inf ormat ion.
· Select an unused or an unimport ant channel f rom t he Channel Plan as out put f requency of Modulat or
out put . · If Modulator output frequency is unsure
Pick a frequency between channel gap, make sure it’s 6 MHz or 8 MHz away from the previous and t he next channels.
Use the recommended frequency indicated on the corresponding Channel Plan appendix. Use the default frequency selected by the Modulator. · Modulat ed out put f requency and channel number can be conf igured f rom t he LCD menu or Web
conf igurat ion page. · Follow the instructions of this Start Guide to set up output frequency and channel number to watch
Modulat or out put video on TV. · If TV needs to learn the Modulator output channel by auto/manual channel rescan. Refer to the
User Guide of TV to practice the rescan for channel detection of Modulator output.
