Installation:

The installation process for the SmartBox+ system can be completed in the following steps:

1. Bracket 2. Cradle and Base Unit 3. Meter 4. Furrow Tube

5. ECU
6. Harnessing power 7. Harnessing communication 8. Display harnessing and cab installation (if required)

1 Bracket · The brackets bolt directly onto the row unit, using supplied hardware.

1

· On planters with Central Fill, the ladder brackets will bolt onto the central fill

ladder or platform.
2 Cradle, Base Unit and Quick-Attach latch 2 · The cradle bolts to the bracket and supplies the mount for the Base Unit.
· Before installing the base unit, the meter quick-attach assembly will be

installed onto the bottom side of the base unit.

3 Meter

· The Meter attaches to the bottom of the base unit. The ISO VT (virtual terminal) display is used to control the system.

3

· The quick attach cone is mounted to the meter before installation

4 Furrow tube

· The furrow tube runs from the bottom of the meter down to the furrow. · It is critical to ensure that the tube remains as vertical as possible, to ensure

4

product flow.

5 ECU (Electronic Control Unit) · The ECU will mount directly onto the planter tool bar, at about row 5-8

5

depending upon the size of the planter.
6 POWER Harnessing · The power harness begins at the tractor battery, runs out onto the planter

tool bar and terminates at 1-2 locations on the tool bar using a tee harness

as a splitter.

6

· It is recommended that the power harness is installed onto the power

disconnect on the tractor, to ensure the system is fully powered down when

the disconnect is off.

7 COMMUNICATION Harnessing · The communication harness starts at the ECU and runs to row 1 initially.

7

· Starting at row 1, the communication harness forms a daisy chain along the

rest of the planter.

8 Display harnessing and cab installation · When a PLANTER display is being used, display harness installation is NOT

REQUIRED (other than simply connecting to the ISO connector).

8

· When an aftermarket display is being used, the display harness must be

installed, following manufacturers guidance
