MWD SBP R-Loop Radar Scanner
“
Specifications:
- Product Name: MWD SBP (R-Loop)
- Device Family: Radar scanners
- Manufacturer: FEIG ELECTRONIC GmbH
- Date: 22.07.2025
Product Usage Instructions:
Teaching-in Barrier Boom with Accessory/Folding Boom:
- Create a way to control the barrier remotely (remote control,
key switch, push button, cable, etc.) - Open the barrier and move out of the radar scanner’s detection
range. Stand behind the barrier if possible. - If needed, adjust the automatic closing time of the barrier to
5-10 seconds. - Press ‘Start teach-in’ after leaving the detection area and
follow the instructions on the app carefully. - Close the barrier and then open it again, repeating this
process 2-3 times. - Manually end the learning process by tapping ‘End
teach-in’.
The boom accessory or folding barrier boom will no longer be
detected as an obstacle, and the status will show as ‘Environment
was teached-in’.
Advanced Settings Configuration:
After the basic radar scanner configuration, access advanced
settings in menu point 7/7. Select ‘Teach-in barrier boom’ from the
submenu for further configuration.
Attention:
Teaching-in the barrier boom does not affect teaching the
environment (menu point 6/7). These processes must be done
independently. Configurations are separate and have distinct
functions.
FAQ:
Q: Is it necessary to repeat the teach-in process for the
barrier boom accessory?
A: Yes, it is recommended to repeat the process 2-3 times to
ensure accurate detection avoidance.
Q: Can the barrier boom accessory be taught-in without a remote
control?
A: No, a way to control the barrier remotely is needed for the
teach-in process.

MWD SBP (R-Loop) Teaching a barrier boom with accessory installed (hanging lattice/ climb protection / pendulum support) or a folding barrier boom
Device family: Radar scanners
Topic:
The MWD SBP offers the option of blanking out a hanging lattice, climb protection or a pendulum support so that these are not detected as obstacles when the barrier is closing. If a boom accessory is used, it is essential to teach the movement of the barrier boom including the boom accessory to ensure that the barrier functions reliably! This process may also be necessary for folding barrier booms under certain circumstances.
Advanced settings:
After completing the basic configuration of the radar scanner using the configuration assistant, you will then have the option of configuring advanced settings (menu point 7/7). Please select the step `Teach-in barrier boom’ from the submenu of the advanced configurations.

PLEASE NOTE: Before starting the teach-in process, please ensure that you can control the barrier (OPEN/CLOSE) without being within the detection range of the radar scanner (key switch, hand-held transmitter, push button and cable, etc.). Optionally, you can also operate the barrier via the app by setting the corresponding outputs during the teaching process. This requires that the outputs have been wired accordingly. ATTENTION: Safety is deactivated during the teach-in process! Please be sure to follow the instructions in the app.
To teach-in the boom accessory / folding boom, please proceed as follows:
1. Create a way to control the barrier remotely (remote control, key switch, push button and cable, etc.)
2. Open the barrier and leave the detection range of the radar scanner. Ideally, please stand behind the barrier. If necessary, it may be useful for the teach-in process to set the automatic closing time of the barrier to 5-10 seconds.
3. Press `Start teach-in’ as soon as you have left the detection area. Be sure to follow the instructions in the app.!
4. Close the barrier and then open it again. Repeat this process 2-3 times. 5. End the learning process manually by tapping `End teach-in’.
The boom accessory / the folding barrier boom is now no longer recognised as an obstacle. The status now updates to `Environment was teached-in’:

There are also advanced settings for teaching the barrier boom. In the advanced settings, you can adjust the tolerance of the radar scanner in relation to the boom accessory. The higher the tolerance, the larger the area that is blanked out around the barrier boom. Please note that a high tolerance leads to a reduction in safety! When is a high tolerance necessary? For example, in strong winds that cause the barrier boom to sway randomly. However, this depends on the actual construction of the suspended lattice and its stability. For the best operation, the hanging lattice should be anchored to the barrier cabinet to reduce the horizontal movement in windy locations. The tolerance can be adjusted retrospectively without having to re-teach the barrier boom!
ATTENTION
Teaching-in the barrier boom has no influence on teaching the environment (menu point 6/7). These two teach-in processes must be carried out independently of each other. Furthermore, the configurations do not influence each other and have completely independent functions.
