This product is designed for indoor use. (Not applicable to products marked "IP67")
IP Ratings Explained:
- IP41: Protected against ingress of solid objects larger than 1.0 mm and the effects of vertically falling drops of water.
- IP4X / IP40: Protected against ingress of solid objects larger than 1.0 mm.
- IP44: Protected against ingress of solid objects larger than 1.0 mm and the effects of water splashed against the enclosure from any direction.
- IP67: Filled with potting compound, dust-tight and protected against the effects of temporary immersion in water (up to 1 meter for 30 minutes). Must not be immersed for longer periods.
Products marked with the "double square symbol" ⬜⬜ are double insulated (Insulation Class II). Products without this mark are Class I (rely on safety earth for protection).
WARNING: To avoid risk of electric shock, Class I products must only be connected to a supply mains with protective earth ?.
At the end of their service life, electric and electronic equipment and their accessories shall not be discarded with municipal waste. They must be disposed of using separate collection, treatment, recovery/recycling, and environmentally sound disposal methods. This also applies to any potentially biohazardous parts and accessories. Cautions to Observe Prior to Use
- Intended Use: To charge batteries (NiCd/NiMH, Lead-Acid, Lithium-Ion or LiFePO4) or to be used as a Power Supply for electrical accessories. Verify product type and read applicable instructions/specifications.
- This product may be used by unskilled operators if these instructions are followed.
- Unskilled operators can contact the supplier or manufacturer for assistance with setup, use, or maintenance, and to report unexpected operation.
- This appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience, if given supervision or instruction on safe use and understanding of hazards. Do not allow small children to handle unattended, as cables pose a strangulation risk and small parts pose an inhalation/swallowing risk.
- Do not allow animals to come into contact with the product. Animals may damage cables, posing an electric shock or excessive temperature risk. Cables and small parts can also pose a strangulation risk to animals.
- If the product has a mains cord, check for damage. If damaged, the product must not be used until the cord is replaced by qualified personnel.
- The mains socket outlet used should always be easily accessible for immediate disconnection in case of operational error. If the product has a detachable mains cord, the appliance coupler can be used as a disconnect device.
- The product is "switched on" by inserting the mains plug and "switched off" by disconnecting it.
- The product may be connected to an IT type mains supply.
- For use in U.S.A.: Ensure a 125V 15A receptacle configuration. Use a UL817-standard compliant mains cord (NEMA 1-15 plug, SJT or SVT cord type).
- For use outside U.S.A: Use a mains cord compliant with country-specific requirements.
- Powering up may take up to 15 seconds for full function.
- In case of operational error or unexpected performance change, disconnect the product from the mains immediately and contact the supplier or manufacturer.
- When not in use, disconnect the product from the mains to reduce hazards, environmental impact, and save electricity costs.
- To avoid overheating, ensure sufficient air circulation around the product during use. Do not cover it up.
Further Precautions
- While complying with safety standards, avoid prolonged contact with human skin, as some individuals may experience allergies or injuries from prolonged contact with moderate temperatures or plastic materials.
- Prior to using the product with accessories or interconnected equipment, carefully read their respective User Manuals.
- If the product has exchangeable output plugs, refer to a separate page for assembly instructions.
- Output cables with modular plugs (similar to telephone connectors) must never be connected to a telephone outlet.
- Products with welded plastic housings or rated IP67 are not repairable. The supply cord cannot be replaced. If the cord is damaged, the appliance should be scrapped. Contact your supplier for replacement parts.
- This product contains hazardous voltages; there are no user-replaceable parts inside. Never attempt to remove the cover.
- WARNING: No modification of this equipment is allowed. Any repair/service must be carried out by qualified personnel, who may obtain assistance from the manufacturer or its agent.
- Products with automatic polarity protection must be switched off if a battery is connected with reverse polarity. Protection resets automatically when polarity is corrected.
- In chargers with a replaceable fuse for polarity protection, replace the fuse if the battery was connected with reverse polarity. Use a fuse of the same type and rating.
- If the product complies with standards for Medical Electrical Equipment (IEC60601-1), it meets some requirements for medical applications and hospital environments.
- Keep the product away from heat sources and avoid use near flammable anesthetic gases or in environments with flammable or explosive atmospheres.
- If the product complies with standards for Medical Electrical Equipment for Home Healthcare Environment (IEC60601-1-11), it may be used in home healthcare environments.
- NOTE! Products relying on safety earth (Class I) may not be used in home healthcare environments unless permanently wired to the building installation by qualified service personnel. Installation requires a protective earth conductor of at least 0.75 mm², connection to the external protective earthing system, and verification of the terminal and system integrity.
- This product converts mains voltage to a safety extra-low voltage. Products with 2MOPP insulation (model names ending in "P") may contact patients (Type B or BF), but the housing must not touch the patient.
Operating and Storage Environment
- Operating Environment: Temperature +5 to +40°C, humidity 15-93% RH (non-condensing), atmospheric pressure 70-106 kPa (700-1060 hPa). If stored outside this range, wait 30 minutes before operating.
- Expected Service Life: Three (3) years, if operated as indicated. Guarantee times are specified in "TERMS OF SALES AND DELIVERY FOR MASCOT AS" (available at www.mascot.com).
- Transport/Storage Environment: Temperature -25 to +85°C, humidity 15-93% RH (non-condensing), atmospheric pressure 70-106 kPa (700-1060 hPa).
- For longer storage, maintain temperature +5 to +35°C, humidity 10-75% RH (non-condensing), and atmospheric pressure 70-106 kPa (700-1060 hPa) to preserve service life.
- Expected Shelf Life: One (1) year, if stored as indicated.
- This product complies with electromagnetic compatibility requirements for medical electric equipment and use in residential, office, or light industrial environments. However, all electric products can cause or be affected by electromagnetic interference. If interference is suspected, disconnect the product and consult a qualified technician, supplier, or manufacturer.
- Maintenance: No special maintenance is required. If the product becomes dusty or dirty, wipe it clean with a dry cloth while disconnected from the mains.
- For plastic casings, avoid contact with lotions, oils, grease, and solvents, as they can degrade plastic. Keep products away from UV light and direct sunlight.
- Position, operate, and store the product only under foreseeable environmental conditions regarding magnetic fields, EM-fields, electrostatic discharges, pressure variations, or acceleration.
- If used or mounted in a vehicle, it may only be used when the vehicle is not in operation.
- Position the product during use so the label is readable within 40 cm of the operator.
- Turn the product off and allow it to cool down before moving it to another location.
Cautions to Observe Prior to Charging Li-Ion Batteries
- Li-Ion chargers are designed exclusively for Li-Ion batteries. Ensure you have the correct charger for the battery chemistry and number of cells in series. To calculate cells, divide battery voltage by 3.6VDC (e.g., 14.4VDC battery has 4 Li-Ion cells).
- The charge voltage should correspond to the number of cells multiplied by 4.2VDC (e.g., a 4-cell Li-Ion battery typically charges at 16.8VDC). Note: Voltages are typical and may vary. Consult battery specifications if unsure.
- Ensure the battery specifications allow for the maximum charge current indicated on the charger.
- Ensure the battery specifications are suitable for the environmental conditions during charging.
- Never attempt to charge non-rechargeable batteries.
- Connect the charger to the mains ? before connecting to the battery. This minimizes sparks due to potential differences between terminals. Ensure charger terminals are not short-circuited and polarity is correct.
- Ensure correct polarity when connecting to battery terminals. Reverse polarity may cause a fuse to blow or render the charger useless.
- The charge cycle begins when the charger is connected to the mains.
- If the charger is disconnected from mains during a charge cycle, it will restart a new cycle upon reconnection.
- Recommended minimum and maximum battery capacity varies. Follow the battery manufacturer's datasheet and recommendations. 1C is the typical maximum current for Li-Ion cells (e.g., 1A for a 1Ah battery). For example, a 1A charger typically recommends 1Ah minimum capacity. Max capacity recommendations vary based on termination methods (e.g., C/40 for timers, 100x current detection for others).
Connecting Plugs
How to Connect Exchangeable DC-Output Plugs
- To connect for desired polarity, both plug ends are clearly marked.
- When connected, the female plug is also marked on each side to identify plug polarity.
- Shows the center polarity of the plug.
How to Connect Exchangeable AC-Plugs
The following exchangeable AC plugs are available:
- "EURO": 250V 2.5A (EN50075/IEC83 C5 II)
- "US": 125V 2.5A (NEMA 1-15 / CSA-C22.2 No.42)
- "UK": 250V 2.5A (BS 1363)
- "AUS": 250V 2.5A (AS/NZS 3112)
A Mains Cord Set is available on request for "DeskTop" use.
Mounting and Use for Bracket Mascot (Part No. 205800)
Wall Mount: Fix the bracket to the wall using screws suitable for the wall material (head diameter: 8-9.5 mm, head height: max. 3 mm, thread diameter: 4-5.5 mm, thread length: min. 16 mm). Use one screw for each of the oval openings (total four screws).
Place the Power Supply / Charger centered on the bracket so the slot in the bottom housing aligns with the bracket tabs.
To attach: Push down on the "Push" handle while pushing the product against the wall. Release to lock.
To detach: Push down on the "Push" handle while pulling the product from the wall.
If not wall-mounted, the bracket can be used as a handle following the same procedure.
Explanation of Li-Ion Battery Charge Cycle
(See tables for methods for each charger model)
Charging Method A
- STEP 1 - CONSTANT CURRENT CHARGE: Connect charger to mains. Charger is in constant current mode, charging at maximum indicated current. LED is ORANGE ?. This allows rapid charging up to 80-95% capacity.
- STEP 2 - CONSTANT VOLTAGE CHARGE: Charger enters constant voltage mode, charging with decreasing current until it drops below the termination level. LED is ORANGE ?. Battery reaches full capacity.
- STEP 3 - CHARGE COMPLETE: LED is GREEN ?. Battery is fully charged. Charge current is zero. Battery voltage remains at Step 2 level. Charger returns to Step 1 if battery is used. A load exceeding cut-off current initiates a new charge cycle.

Charging Method B
- STEP 1 - CONSTANT CURRENT CHARGE: Connect charger to mains. Charger is in constant current mode, charging at maximum indicated current. LED is ORANGE ?. This allows rapid charging until battery voltage reaches a set level.
- STEP 2 - CONSTANT VOLTAGE CHARGE: Charger enters constant voltage mode with decreasing current. LED is ORANGE ?. When battery reaches 90-95% capacity, current drops, and LED changes to YELLOW ?, indicating near full charge. Constant voltage charge continues to full capacity.
- STEP 3 - CHARGE COMPLETE: LED is GREEN ?. Battery is fully charged. Charge current is zero. Battery voltage remains at Step 2 level. Charger returns to Step 1 if battery is used. A load exceeding cut-off current initiates a new charge cycle.

Charging Method C
- STEP 1 - CONSTANT CURRENT CHARGE: Connect charger to mains. Charger is in constant current mode, charging at maximum indicated current. LED is ORANGE ? (or RED). Allows rapid charging up to 80-95% capacity.
- STEP 2 - CONSTANT VOLTAGE (TIMER) CHARGE: Charger is in constant voltage mode with decreasing current. LED is YELLOW ?, indicating timer mode. Battery charges to full capacity by the end of this step.
- STEP 3 - CHARGE COMPLETE: LED is GREEN ?. Battery is fully charged. Charge current is zero. Charge voltage is at standby level, allowing the charger to remain connected. Charger returns to Step 1 if the battery is used. A load exceeding the constant current level in Step 1 initiates a new charge cycle.

Charging Method D
- STEP 1 - CONSTANT CURRENT CHARGE: Charge cycle starts automatically. Charger is in constant current mode (CC), charging at maximum indicated current. LED is YELLOW ?. Allows rapid charging up to 80-95% capacity. NOTE: If battery is < 3V/cell, low current start-up is applied. If normal voltage isn't reached within the start timer period, charge terminates with 4 red blinks (error).
- STEP 2 - CONSTANT VOLTAGE (TIMER) CHARGE: Charger is in constant voltage mode (CV). Charge current decreases. LED changes to FLASHING YELLOW ? shortly after entering this mode. Charger remains in this mode until current drops to end-of-charge detection level or CV timer expires. Battery charges to full capacity.
- STEP 3 - CHARGE COMPLETE: LED is GREEN ?. Battery is fully charged. Charge current is zero. Charger may remain connected. A new cycle starts if battery voltage drops by 0.1V/cell.
Battery Not Connected Indications:
- FLASHING GREEN ?: Charger applies short pulses to wake up deeply discharged batteries.
Error Indications:
- 2 red blinks: Battery connected with wrong polarity! ❌
- 3 red blinks: Charger output is shorted. Check cable connection! ⚠️
- 4 red blinks: Battery voltage is low. Check battery status/voltage. ?
- 5 red blinks: Safety timer has run out. Check battery status/capacity. ⏳
- LED off: Battery voltage is too high. Check battery voltage. ⬆️
Wait Mode Indications:
- Yellow with 1 red blink: Battery temperature is too low (<0°C). ?
- Yellow with 2 red blinks: Battery temperature is too high (>45°C). ?

Electromagnetic Compatibility
To prevent unsafe product situations, the EMC EN60601-1-2 standard has been implemented. This standard defines immunity levels and maximum emission levels for medical devices. Mascot medical devices have been tested and conform to IEC/EN 60601-1-2 (3rd & 4th editions), though special precautions may be necessary.
Mascot products are suitable for Domestic, Residential, Office, and Hospital environments, except in locations with high EM Disturbances (e.g., near High Frequency Surgical Equipment or Magnetic Resonance Imaging systems).
When used as specified, the product is expected to fulfill its essential performance (powering Medical Electrical Devices or charging batteries for them).
WARNING: Avoid using this equipment adjacent to or stacked with other equipment, as it may result in improper operation. If necessary, observe both units to ensure normal operation.
WARNING: Using accessories, transducers, or cables other than those provided by the manufacturer could increase electromagnetic emissions or decrease immunity, leading to improper operation.
WARNING: Portable RF communications equipment should be used no closer than 30 cm (12 inches) to any part of the power supply or battery charger, including cables, to prevent degradation of performance.
Guidance and Manufacturer's Declaration
Mascot products are intended for use in the specified electromagnetic environment. The customer or user should ensure it is used in such an environment.

These guidelines may not apply in all situations. Electromagnetic propagation is affected by absorption and reflection from structures, objects, and people. Field strengths from fixed transmitters (e.g., base stations, radio broadcasts) cannot be predicted accurately. An EM site survey may be considered. If measured field strength exceeds applicable RF compliance levels, observe the Mascot product for normal operation. If abnormal performance occurs, re-orienting or relocating the product may be necessary.
