Product Usage Instructions

  • Now is the time to change your grips if you need to. SkyGolf strongly recommends you do not move SuperTags from club to club.
  • If you previously had another brand of tag-in your grips, it’s time to change grips. SkyGolf will not take responsibility for grips.
  • Keep your clubs with SuperTags out of extreme heat, cold, and moisture. Leaving them in a car trunk or garage in adverse conditions could damage the sensitive components.
  • While SuperTags are water-resistant, avoid submerging them in water. Handle your clubs carefully to prevent damaging the electronics.
  • When inserting clubs into your bag, avoid slamming them down to prevent impact on the SuperTags.
  • DO NOT use the SuperTag as an extension of your grip. This can cause rotation or movement of the SuperTag.

Important Notice

Before using SuperTags, it is important to read the SuperTag Product Information Guide thoroughly. The technology behind SuperTags is continuously evolving, and updates may be required to access new features, courses, or maintain existing functionality.

Licensing Note: The SuperTag software is licensed to you and is subject to the End User License Agreement (EULA). It is not sold and must be used following the EULA.

Please Note

The SkyCaddie iOS Mobile app lacks key features found in our SkyCaddie models, like the PRO 5X, including IntelliGreen, IntelliPath, and Dynamic HoleVue. Upgrade to our award-winning SkyCaddie PRO 5X for these game-enhancing tools.

Warranty Void If Opened

  • ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES ARE INVALID ONCE OPENED OR AFTER ANY TAMPERING WITH SCREWS OR SEALS.

Compatibility & Top Tips

SuperTags are currently compatible with the SkyCaddie PRO 5X, the SX550, iOS, and Android. Other select models of SkyCaddie coming soon. GameTrax and SwingTrax for use with Android SkyCaddie Mobile App will only work with an Android phone that has a built-in Gyroscope, Magnetometer & Accelerometer. Most modern Android smartphones come with a gyroscope (gyro) sensor, a Magnetometer & Accelerometer which are used for detecting rotation and orientation. Please check your device via a Google search for that information for your own model.

Best Practices

  • Treat SuperTags as Electronics: Keep your clubs with SuperTags out of extreme heat, cold, and moisture. Leaving them in a car trunk or garage in adverse conditions could damage the sensitive components.
  • Water Resistance: While SuperTags are water-resistant, avoid submerging them in water. Handle your clubs carefully to prevent damaging the electronics.
  • Protective Handling: When inserting clubs into your bag, avoid slamming them down to prevent impact on the SuperTags.

SuperTag Specifications

  • Weight: 9 grams (or 0.3 ounces)
  • Impact on Club Feel: Positioned at the end of the grip, SuperTags affect less than 1 swing weight, meaning they will not significantly alter the balance of your clubs.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT use the SuperTag as an extension of your grip. This can cause rotation or movement of the SuperTag.SkyGolf-Ultimate-Game-Tracking-System-FIG-1

Setting Up SuperTags

Installing SuperTags

Each SuperTag comes with a lock washer that secures it to your club’s grip, preventing unwanted rotation or movement. Follow these steps for proper installation:

  1. Insert the Washer: Ensure the lock washer’s teeth are pointing toward the grip. This will allow the washer to bite into the grip material and prevent movement.
  2. Hold the Club Upside Down: This position will help you avoid injury from the washer’s sharp teeth during installation.
  3. Screw in the SuperTag: Align the SuperTag with the washer and tighten it securely.

You cannot over-tighten a SuperTag, but if it is under-tightened, it could rotate, leading to inaccurate data capture. Always check that the SuperTag is fully seated flush to the grip.

Installing SuperTags on SuperStroke Grips

To install SuperTags on grips like the SuperStroke Putter Grips (with CounterCore weights), follow these steps:

  1. Remove the CounterCore Weight using the wrench provided with your SuperStroke grip.
  2. Place the Adapter over the hole where the weight was removed.
  3. Reinsert and tighten the CounterCore Weight through the adapter.
  4. Screw in the SuperTag to the adapter, ensuring it is tight and secure

Calibrating SuperTags

After installation, each SuperTag must be calibrated to your club to ensure accurate tracking. SkyGolf recommends you install and then calibrate each tag.

  1. Remove your phone from any carry case or holder and open the SkyCaddie Mobile App.
  2. From the menu, navigate to Clubs/Tags and select Setup Tags.
  3. Select Club Type: Choose the type of club (Wood, Hybrid, Iron, Putter) that corresponds to the SuperTag you are calibrating. When calibrating a wood or driver, use the O-ring provided to help flatten your iPhone on the club face. This evens out the roll and bulge, giving you a more accurate calibration.
  4. Place the phone on the clubface and hold the shaft under your arm (left arm for right-handed
golfers, right arm for left-handed golfers).
  5. The app will prompt you to level the clubface using an on-screen bubble level.
  6. Rotate the club left and right as directed. This allows the SuperTag to determine its orientation on the grip.
  7. Save the Calibration. Repeat for each club.

Important: If a club’s loft is slightly off (e.g., calibrating a 6-iron that’s recognized as a 5-iron), you can manually adjust the club type by using the sliding wheel in the app.

Watch the Calibrating SuperTags video here.SkyGolf-Ultimate-Game-Tracking-System-FIG-5

Recalibrating SuperTags

You may need to recalibrate your SuperTags if they move or show unusual data patterns.

  1. Go to the Clubs/Tags menu and select the club to recalibrate.
  2. Choose the Recalibrate option and follow the same steps as the initial calibration.

Pro Tip: If your SuperTag becomes loose or rotated during play, recalibrate to ensure accurate data capture. As a best practice, recalibrate every few rounds.

Using GameTraX 360 on the Course

GPS Accuracy and Tips for Best Performance

Turn on GPS 10-15 minutes before your round: This allows the GPS to find your location for better accuracy.

Stay Near Your Phone: SuperTags connect to your SkyCaddie Mobile App via Bluetooth. Ensure your phone stays within a reasonable distance (e.g., while in a cart or walking) to capture accurate GPS locations for each shot.

Avoiding False Shot Detection

  • Watch for Club Handling: If you drop or clang multiple clubs together, the SuperTag might register a false shot. While AI filtering eliminates most of these, be mindful to prevent extra data entry.
  • False Swings: Air swings or practice swings are generally not recorded, but occasionally they might be logged as shots. Any discrepancies can be fixed during post-round editing.
  • Conceded Putts: If you concede a competitor’s putt and use a club to return the ball, it may be recorded as a shot. Simply delete these false entries after your round.

Avoiding Missed Shots During a Round

  • The SuperTag sensor best performs with a slight pause before each stroke. Example, Putting:
  • To help avoid short putts being missed, take your practice strokes at a normal pace, before making your actual putting stroke to sink the putt, take a brief pause, keeping the club still. This will help the SuperTag sensor recognize the real stroke compared to a practice stroke.
  • The same process should be adopted for all swings. Practice swing as normal, then slightly pause, keeping the club still, before taking your actual shot.

To begin a round with GameTraX 360 and fully utilize your SkyCaddie and SuperTags, follow the steps below to ensure accurate tracking and make the most out of your game analysis.

  • Preparing for Your Round
    1. Before starting, make sure your SkyCaddie Mobile App has a clear view of the sky for optimal GPS accuracy. Turn on your SkyCaddie Mobile App 10-15 minutes before teeing off to allow your phone time to locate satellites and establish your course location.
    2. Check SuperTag Calibration: From the main menu of your SkyCaddie Mobile App, ensure all SuperTags are calibrated and ready.
    3. Icon Status:
    4. Blinking Green: The SuperTag is awake and ready to record data.
    5. Gray Icon: The club has not been moved yet, but the SuperTag will activate once you take the club out of your bag.
  • Starting Your Round
    1. From the home screen or menu of your SkyCaddie Mobile App, follow these steps to begin your round:
    2. Select Play Golf: The SkyCaddie will either locate your nearest course or allow you to choose from your list of favorite courses.
    3. Input Round Options: Depending on your course, you may have preset pin positions or green zones available. If your course uses pin sheets, you can enter the pin locations for each green, which will be critical for accurate Strokes Gained analysis. By default, the system is set to target the center of the green. However, you can adjust the pin positions on each hole for more precise tracking.
    4. Set Pin Location (Optional): As you approach each green, you can adjust the pin location if it’s not preset. This will provide better accuracy for your shot statistics and strokes gained metrics.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT use the SuperTag as an extension of your grip. This can cause rotation or movement of the SuperTag

Watch the Setting Pins video here.SkyGolf-Ultimate-Game-Tracking-System-FIG-10

  • Playing Your Round
    • For the best results, it’s recommended to just go play and let your SuperTags automatically capture your shots. SuperTags track each swing, while your SkyCaddie Mobile App records the GPS location of each shot.
    • Keep SkyCaddie Close: Ensure your SkyCaddie Mobile App is always near you while taking shots, so it can accurately record the shot location. If you forget to keep your SkyCaddie nearby, don’t worry! You can adjust shot locations later during post-round editing in SkyGolf 360.
    • Check Scorecard: You can periodically check and update your scorecard after each hole or at the end of your round. This will allow you to make any necessary edits, such as adding missed putts.

Note: The in-round golf features for the iOS SkyCaddie Mobile app may differ from those on the SkyCaddie PRO 5X.

  • Maximizing the GameTraX 360 System: GameTraX 360 offers powerful tools to help you improve your game, such as Target View and IntelliPath. These features are designed to help you plan your shots with precision and gather valuable statistics.
    • Using Target View and IntelliPath
    • Move the Target Cursor: Each hole comes with a preset target for tee shots or layup shots on par-5s. To addjust:
    • Press on the target cursor and drag it to your desired location.
    • This will update the distance to your target and show how far you’ll have left to the green.
    • IntelliPath: As you move the target cursor, you’ll notice a red dotted line extending from your current position to the target. This line gives you a visual representation of the ball’s projected path, including how far you can drive before running out of fairway or encountering hazards.
    • For example, if you set your target at 298 yards down the fairway, IntelliPath will show the potential runout if you hit the ball perfectly.

Note: The in-round golf features for the iOS SkyCaddie Mobile app may differ from those on the SkyCaddie PRO 5X.

Watch the Target View video here.SkyGolf-Ultimate-Game-Tracking-System-FIG-15

  • Recording and Analyzing Shots
  • Shot Recording: Once you hit your shot, you’ll see the club used, the position of the ball, and the swing speed recorded on the screen.
  • Distance Tracking: As you walk or ride towards your ball, the SkyCaddie will automatically track the shot distance.
Tip: Adjusting pin locations ensures more accurate Strokes Gained calculations and better data for post-round analysis.
  • Setting the Pin Location on the Green. As you approach the green, if the pin location hasn’t been set or you want to adjust it, you can manually set the exact pin location:
    • Tap on “Set Pin”.
    • Use the crosshair to drag the pin to your preferred location on the green, then tap Set Pin to save.

For example, if you’re planning to lay up, you can move the target cursor to a distance of around 160 yards, leaving you with a short approach shot, say 65 yards to the green. After hitting, the system will seamlessly record the club used, swing speed, and shot distance.

Watch the Setting Pins video here.SkyGolf-Ultimate-Game-Tracking-System-FIG-12

  • Putting and Auto Putt. When putting out, it’s best to trust your SuperTags to capture the shots. You don’t need to constantly check your SkyCaddie Mobile App during play. If the pin location isn’t quite right or you miss a putt capture, you can always edit these details post-round in SkyGolf 360. For very short putts, gimmes, or tap-ins that aren’t detected, you can use the Auto Putt feature:
    • Open the Scorecard during or after the round.
    • Tap (+) to add any missed putts and ensure your score is accurate.

Note: The in-round golf features for the iOS SkyCaddie Mobile app may differ from those on the SkyCaddie PRO 5X.

Watch the Auto Putts video here.SkyGolf-Ultimate-Game-Tracking-System-FIG-13

  • Viewing Swings from Your Round After your round, you can view and analyze each shot captured by the SuperTags in your SkyCaddie Mobile App or in SkyGolf 360.
    • From the home screen, select Recent Rounds.
    • Choose the round you want to review, then tap on Shots.
    • You’ll see each shot’s data capture point displayed on the hole’s map. To view detailed swing information, simply tap on the shot.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

SuperTag Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Battery Information
SuperTags are powered by long-life batteries that last approximately 2 years, depending on use. SuperTags have no on/ off switch. They use intelligent power management to remain dormant when not in use and wake up when detecting a shot.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  1. SuperTag Not Recording Data: If your SuperTag fails to register shots, recalibrate the tag or ensure it is properly tightened.
  2. Odd Swing Data: Unusual swing data may indicate that the SuperTag has shifted. Recalibrate the tag to resolve the issue.
  3. Waking Up SuperTags: If a SuperTag is not responding (e.g., showing a grey icon), simply remove the club from your bag. The SuperTag should activate and sync with your SkyCaddie.

BETA Program Information

Your Role as a Beta Tester

  • As a beta tester, you’re a vital part of our development team. Your real-world use and insights will help us fine-tune the final product to ensure it meets both our high standards and your expectations.
  • Please report any issues or observations, as they will directly contribute to making GameTraX 360 the best it can be.
  • We’re grateful for your participation and look forward to your feedback! Thank you for helping us bring GameTraX 360 to golfers around the world.
  • On the PGA Tour, the players have ShotLink® to capture detailed data about every shot and every player.
  • Now, recreational golfers like you can have the same information, but much more, without distraction and without the hundreds of volunteers needed to operate ShotLink®.

Known Limitations and Things to Keep in Mind

  1. Shot Capture: GameTraX 360 will accurately capture most, if not all, shots and swings from tee to green, including chips and putts over a few feet. By entering your score and number of putts for each hole in the application during or after your round, our AI will fill in the details for any short or conceded putts and most shots too weak to record. Some shots may not immediately appear on the hole being played. To avoid duplication, just keep playing and do not attempt editing during a round.
  2. Short Putts and Hole Location: Very short putts and tap-ins might not register; however, AI and our auto-putt technology will fill in those for you during or after your round if you simply complete your scorecard and enter
the number of putts. You will need to update the hole location to ensure the accuracy of putting stats for Strokes Gained purposes. This can be done during or after your round via the app or the SkyGolf 360 Cloud (“SG360”).
  3. Penalty Strokes: GameTraX 360 does not automatically record penalties, but will log provisional shots. After your round, you can delete provisional shots if needed and manually add penalties to your score in the application or in SG360. When editing your round in SG36.0, simply click the Add Penalty Shot button to insert a penalty stroke in the appropriate sequence.
  4.  Scorecard Accuracy and Interaction During Play: Keeping a simple scorecard within the app to include total score on the hole and number of putts will resolve most potential issues, and with minimal editing, you’ll achieve precise data for review. Occasionally, the system will buffer a shot while its validity is re-evaluated before posting. Do not attempt to edit or add shots during a round. Just keep playing and let the system do its work for you.
  5. False Shots: While rare, certain actions like knocking a playing companion’s ball back with your club after a concession or carrying multiple clubs together may trigger a false reading. Our AI corrects most of these, but you might need to delete occasional extras after your round. Again, we expect our system to far outperform any alternative in the category, and as we get more data through this BETA program to further improve our algorithms, false shots will be even rarer.
  6. Air Swings and Practice Swings: Most, if not all, practice swings are ignored during course play, but occasionally one might be recorded. If so, deleting after play is very simple. Air swings can be enabled for practice sessions but will not register during a round.
  7. Proximity to Adjacent Tees and Fairways: Should you venture into or near an adjacent fairway or tee box, shots may temporarily appear on the wrong hole. Just continue playing, and this should auto-correct.
  8. Pre-Game Prep: As always, for best results, turn on your GPS 10-15 minutes before your round. This ensures optimal accuracy and minimizes any temporary issues. During practice or putting on an adjacent practice green, a few shots may get recorded and temporarily show up on the first hole after play begins. Just ignore and keep playing and the system will sort this out.
  9. App Closing and Data Syncing: After finishing your round, leave the app open for a few minutes to allow data transfer and any buffered shots time to post. For SkyCaddie devices, select “Finish Round” and click the Sync button on the main menu of your SkyCaddie to Sync later when Wi-Fi is available.
  10. Diagnostic Features: This beta version contains extra diagnostic layers that help identify bugs. Occasionally, these may even cause an issue or crash that wouldn’t occur in the final product. If you experience a crash, please upload the data to SG360 for our team’s review.
  11. SuperTags Care: The SuperTags are durable and water-resistant. However, we advise avoiding submersion or hard impacts to preserve the delicate sensors. It is also advisable to care for your now super-intelligent clubs with the care you would normally provide your other valuable electronic products in terms of handling and storage environment.
  12. Pace of Play and Distractions: GameTraX is designed to let you play without distractions from the fun of the game or your companions. While it may be addictive to watch each shot, we strongly recommend you let the system capture your data while you JUST PLAY. Keep up the pace of play, avoid any editing, accept conceded putts, and don’t distract others trying to record or adjust the hole locations. The system will automatically complete tap-ins and concessions, and hole locations can be adjusted after the round if you want Strokes Gained to be refined to that degree. Keep it simple, HAVE FUN, and JUST GO PLAY!
  13. GameTraX 360 is a System. GameTraX 360 is comprised of multiple parts designed to work together but also independently. Each has unique benefits and does some things better than others. For example, GameTraX with SuperTags is designed for on-course PLAY using either a SkyCaddie or SkyCaddie Mobile App. While SwingTraX 360 is included with GameTraX, it is best used for PRACTICE and to analyze swings after play. When just practicing, you may find using SwingTraX 360 in the SG Mobile app works best for you. After syncing your round from your SkyCaddie, final edits are best done in the SG Mobile app or in the SG 360 Cloud. Detailed analysis, progress tracking, and Strokes Gained insights are best attained in the SG 360 Cloud.
