SICCE JOLLY 10W Submersible Heater
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING – To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the following.
READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Failure to do so may result in loss of fish and/or damage to this appliance.
WARNING: To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken since water is employed in the use of aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs by yourself. Return the appliance to an authorized service facility for service or discard the appliance.
- CAUTION: If the appliance shows any sign of abnormal water leakage, immediately unplug it from the power source.
- Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet. Maximum operating depth is 1m (3ft).
- Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it doesn’t work properly or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
- To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or receptacle getting wet, position the aquarium stand and tank or the fountain to one side of a wall-mounted outlet to prevent water from dripping onto the receptacle or plug. A “drip-loop” (fig. 1) should be arranged by the user for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to an outlet. The “drip-loop” is the part of the cord below the level of the outlet or the connector if an extension cord is used, which prevents water from traveling along the cord and coming in contact with the outlet. If the plug or socket does get wet, DON’T unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the appliance. Then unplug and examine for the presence of water in the outlet.
- These appliances are not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities or a lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance
by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. - To avoid injury, do not contact hot parts.
- Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never yank the cord to pull the plug from the outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.
- This is an aquarium heater. Do not use an appliance for anything other than its intended use (i.e., swimming pools, garden ponds, bathrooms, etc.). The use of attachments, not recommended or sold by the manufacturer of the appliance, may cause an unsafe condition.
- This heater is suitable for indoor use only. Do not install or store the appliances where they will be exposed to the weather or to temperatures below freezing.
- Make sure an appliance mounted on a tank is securely installed before operating it.
- If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord rated for fewer amperes or watts than the appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled. 12) The power cord of this appliance cannot be replaced; if the cord is damaged, the appliance should be discarded. Never cut the cord.
- (For North America only) This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Never use with an extension cord unless the plug can be fully inserted. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
CAUTION: The heater must never be operated outside of water.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Dear Client, thanks for choosing a Sicce product. To use it in the best way for your new product, please read and follow these instructions. JOLLY is an automatic plastic submersible heater for fresh and marine water aquariums, paludarium, and turtle tanks, designed for indoor use. Any other use is not allowed or covered by warranty.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
- WARNING: Turn off and disconnect all appliances inside the aquarium before beginning any sort of installation or maintenance work.
- Check the voltage on the heater label and make sure it corresponds to the main power supply.
- Attach suckers to the heater.
- Place the heater inside the aquarium in a position with good water circulation. Generally heater should be placed close to a source of water movement to ensure distribution of warmed water.
- DO NOT PLUG THE HEATER INTO THE MAIN SUPPLY UNIT UNTIL IT IS IN WATER.
- Ensure the heater remains submerged at all times
- To choose the heater’s correct wattage, consider the aquarium’s capacity, room temperature, and the temperature increase you desire. Temperature increase is indicated as ǻTº (v. table 1).
The LED placed on the tube indicates the heater’s status:
- LED turned on: heater in operation
- LED turned off: thermal protection activated
The heater works by increasing the water temperature according to Table 1, and a maximum of 4°C/40°F. When the heater is extracted from the water, when a fixed temperature is reached, the thermal protection switches automatically off after a few minutes. For safety reasons, we recommend checking the water temperature on a regular basis, using a precise thermometer. Unplug the heater and let it cool down for at least minutes before taking it out of the water.
MAINTENANCE
The heater does not require maintenance, except for periodical cleaning of the tube from salt incrustations and algae. To remove build-up, use only water and vinegar. Do not use chemical cleaners.
ATTENTION: Do not disassemble this heater or remove or pull the power supply cable. 2002/96/EC – EN50419 Correct disposal of this product (electric & electronic equipment waste) (Applicable in the European Union and other European countries with separate waste collection systems).
