SelectBlinds Window Screens

Overview

Measure your existing window screen to create accurate custom replacements. Record frame thickness, screen width/height, and—if present—measure distances to any auxiliary hardware or latch/spring/pull locations.

Quick Guide

1. Gather a measuring tape, pen, and paper.
2. Carefully remove your existing screen.
3. Measure frame thickness (e.g., 3/8, 5/16, or 7/16).
4. Measure screen width (frame end to frame end, outside of frame) and round down to the nearest 1/16. If there is a lip, measure only the inner frame.
5. Measure screen height (frame end to frame end, outside of frame) and round down to the nearest 1/16. If there is a lip, measure only the inner frame.
6. Identify auxiliary hardware on your screen. If you have compression springs, lance latches, spring bolts, or pull handles, follow Section 2 to measure the required distance(s). If you have no hardware but have corner pins, contact customer service. If there is no hardware and no corner pins, your measurements are complete.
7. For hardware distances, measure from the nearest outer edge of the screen frame to the specified reference point (center of latch/spring bolt hole, point where compression spring begins, or center of handle).

How to measure your existing window screens.
Measuring for a custom window screen replacement is simple. You only need a measuring tape, a pen, and paper to record your dimensions.
Section 1: Measuring Your Existing Screen

1. Carefully remove your existing screen from the window.
2. Measure the screen frame thickness  (i.e., 3/8”, 5/16”, or 7/16”). 
3. Measure the width of your screen from frame end to frame end (outside of frame). Round down your measurements to the nearest 1/16”.
   1. IMPORTANT: If your screen has a lip, measure only the inner frame of the screen; do not include the lip in your measurement.
4. Measure the height of your screen from frame end to frame end (outside of frame). Round down your measurements to the nearest 1/16”.
   1. IMPORTANT: If your screen has a lip, measure only the inner frame of the screen; do not include the lip in your measurement.
5. If your screen has compression springs, lance latches, spring bolts , or pull handles, proceed to Section 2 for further instructions.
6. If your screen has no hardware*, but has a corner pin [images 6a and 6b], please contact our customer service team for further instructions. If your screen has no hardware* and no pins in the corners [images 6c and 6d], your measurements are complete!
   IMPORTANT: The “No Hardware” option should only be selected if your current screen does not have hardware or does not have a corner pin [images 6a and 6b].

Section 2: Measuring The Distance To Compression Springs, Lance Latches, Spring Bolts, & Pull Handles .

Instructions

1. To measure the distance to lance latches:
   Measure from the nearest outer edge of the screen frame to the center of the latch hole. This single measurement will be applied to all 4 lance latches, ensuring consistent placement on both sides of the screen (same distance from the nearest top or bottom corners).
2. To measure the distance to spring bolts:
   Measure from the nearest outer edge of the screen frame to the center of the spring bolt
   hole. This single measurement will be applied to all 4 spring bolts, ensuring consistent placement on both sides of the screen (same distance from the nearest top or bottom corners).
3. To measure the distance to compression springs:
   Measure from the nearest outer edge of the screen frame to the point where the compression spring begins (the nearest installation point of the compression spring). This single measurement will be applied to both compression springs, ensuring consistent placement along the screen frame (for example, the same distance from the top and bottom corners when compression springs are placed on a vertical side, or from the left and right corners when placed on a horizontal side).NOTE: 2 compression springs will be installed on the selected side of the screen. If left or right placement is required, please indicate the side as viewed from inside the room (front-facing).
4. To measure the distance to pull handles:
   If only one pull handle is needed (applicable for screens up to 18” on the corresponding side), it will be centered to your screen. If you require two handles, measure from the nearest outer edge of the screen frame to the center of the handle. This single measurement will be applied to both handles, ensuring consistent placement on both sides of the screen (for example, the same distance from the top and bottom corners when placed on a vertical side, or from the left and right corners when placed on a horizontal side).
   NOTE: If left or right placement is required, please indicate the side as viewed from inside the room (front-facing).

• Can’t decide what to measure if your screen has a lip? Measure only the inner frame for both width and height—do not include the lip.
• Screen has no hardware—what should you select? Only select the “No Hardware” option if your current screen does not have hardware and does not have a corner pin.
• Screen has no hardware, but has corner pins? Contact customer service for further instructions.
• Need left/right placement for compression springs or pull handles? Indicate the side as viewed from inside the room (front-facing).
• Unclear how many measurements are needed for multiple hardware points? Use the single distance measurement described in Section 2 (e.g., one measurement applies to all four lance latches, or all four spring bolts).
