    Question

How can I turn off or pause the ear lights on my Razer headset while listening to music?

    Answer

To turn off or adjust the lighting on your headset's ears, you should use the Razer Audio App. Based on your description, you are likely using a device like the Razer Kraken BT Kitty Edition, which is specifically supported by this app for lighting customization.

Follow these steps to manage the lights:

    1. Ensure your headset is powered on and paired with your mobile device via Bluetooth.
    2. Open the Razer Audio App on your smartphone.
    3. Select your device from the list to enter the main menu.
    4. Look for a section labeled Chroma Effect or Lighting.
    5. From there, you can toggle the lighting to Off or adjust the brightness and effects to your preference while you continue to listen to music.

If you do not see these options, ensure your firmware is up to date by checking for notifications within the app's main menu.

    Question

Why does the Razer Audio app disconnect from my Opus X when I try to update the firmware or change settings?

    Answer

It appears your Razer Opus X is losing its Bluetooth handshake with the app when it attempts to switch into a data-transfer mode for updates. Based on Razer support documentation and user feedback, please try the following steps to stabilize the connection:

    • Disconnect other devices: Ensure the headset is not simultaneously connected to a PC, console, or another mobile device. The app often fails to maintain a stable connection if the headset is actively paired or streaming from another source.
    • Refresh the App: Completely close the Razer Audio app (swipe it away from your recent apps), power your headset off and back on, and then relaunch the app.
    • Check Permissions: Ensure the Razer Audio app has Location Access enabled in your phone's settings; this is required for the app to maintain a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connection for firmware updates.
    • Reset Pairing: Unpair/Forget the Opus X from your phone's Bluetooth settings entirely, then attempt to pair it directly through the Razer Audio app interface rather than the phone's system menu.

If the app continues to kick you back to the pairing screen during a firmware update, you may need to contact Razer support at googleplay.ca@razer.com with your serial number, as this can sometimes indicate a hardware-level communication error.
