Installation Instructions

STEP 1:
Remove the iPad from the PIVOT A22A case by pressing around the edges to release the iPad in the specified order.

STEP 2:
Place the PA-KA22A keyboard into the PIVOT A22A case body.

STEP 3:

Align the PA-KA22A USB-C charging port properly with the PIVOT
A22A case body and press the keyboard into place.

STEP 4:
Open the iPad shell in preparation for installing the iPad.

STEP 5:
Align the iPad camera turret with the corresponding camera lens window in the iPad shell.

STEP 6:
Press the corners of the iPad into the iPad shell, starting with the camera and button, until it snaps securely into place within the case’s perimeter seal.

Bluetooth Pairing Instructions

Locate the power switch on the bottom right of the keyboard and set it to the On position.
Press the Fn + C keys to start the Bluetooth pairing connection.

In your iPad settings, ensure Bluetooth is on. The PA-KA22A pairing information will appear as PIVOT-KB001 in the Bluetooth list. Select it to pair and connect.

Product Description

The PA-KA22A is a Bluetooth Keyboard solution for users who frequently use their iPad for data entry or document editing. The PA-KA22A is an accessory to be used in combination with iPads housed in the protective *PIVOT A22A case.
The PA-KA22A enhances the convenience, functionality, and transportation of the iPad and keyboard by combining them into one easy-to-manage assembly.
This versatile solution features a 360-degree hinge, which allows for a variety of usage conﬁgurations: laptop mode, tablet mode, and transit mode.
The PA-KA22A is case-speciﬁc and only compatible with the PIVOT A22A case.

iPad Compatibility

The PA-KA22A is compatible with multiple generations of iPad. Before attempting to install your iPad, refer to the information below to conﬁrm compatibility.
The PA-KA22A supports the following iPads:

Similar to the PIVOT A22A case, not all PA-KA22A compatible devices have the same buttons, speakers, or camera placements. That’s why the access openings in the PA-KA22A case are speciﬁcally designed to suit the varying features of all compatible iPad types.

Identifying PA-KA22A Parts

Installing PA-KA22A

STEP 1: Remove the iPad from the PIVOT A22A case. Beginning with the bottom edge near the charging port, press ﬁrmly using your thumbs to disengage the case seal. Continue carefully pressing around the edges of the case to release the iPad in the order shown. Do not attempt to pry or force the iPad from the case.
- A. Start at the bottom and move left.
- B. Continue around the top edge.
- C. Release the right edge to remove the iPad.
STEP 2: Place the PA-KA22A keyboard into the PIVOT A22A case body.

STEP 3: With the PA-KA22A USB-C charging port aligned properly with the PIVOT A22A case body, press the keyboard into place within the case body.
STEP 4: Open the iPad shell in preparation for installing the iPad.
STEP 5: Align the iPad camera turret with the corresponding camera lens window in the iPad shell.

STEP 6: Press the corners of
the iPad into the iPad shell, beginning with the camera and button. The iPad will snap securely into the case’s perimeter seal. Reference STEP 1 if necessary.
Congratulations!
Assembly is now complete. You are now ready to pair the PA-KA22A with your iPad via Bluetooth. See the next page for the steps.

PA-KA22A Bluetooth Pairing

Locate the power switch on the bottom right of the keyboard and set it to the position On.

Press the Fn + C keys to start Bluetooth pairing.
(The keyboard will automatically reconnect when you turn it on for the second time.)
A) Open the iPad and ﬁnd“Settings”.
B) Make sure the “Bluetooth” function is on, as shown on the left.
C) The PA-KA22A pairing information will appear as PIVOT-KB001 in the Bluetooth list on your screen, as shown on the left.
D) Select PIVOT-KB001 to pair and connect.
! Important!
Immediately after pairing, press and hold the Fn + iOS keys (Fn+ iOS) to activate the iOS formatting. The pairing process is not complete until the iOS formatting is activated.

Pro Tip!
If the Fn + C keys are pressed by mistake after pairing is successful, the Bluetooth connection will be disconnected. If this occurs, turn the keyboard off and then on to automatically reconnect. If you need to reconnect manually, delete the connected PA-KA22A by clicking PIVOT-KB001 from the Bluetooth list before reconnecting using the same pairing steps above.

Indicator Light Description

Fn Key Descriptions

The blue character functions of certain keys must be used in combination with the Fn key. To activate, press and hold the Fn key + the desired blue character function key. See below for the PA-KA22A keyboard layout and the described function keys.

A. The durable hinge provides 360° rotation.

B. The keyboard and iPad shell open up to 180°.

Incorrect Use

The PA-KA22A is durable if used as intended, but can be damaged if subjected to repeated stress and misuse.

Do not attempt to force the PA-KA22A beyond its maximum open position of 180°.
WARNING!
Do not use excessive force when opening, closing, or adjusting the PA-KA22A, or attempt to force beyond its intended range of motion. Damage resulting from such misuse is not covered under warranty.

Trackpad Function

Sleep Mode Function

If the PA-KA22A is not operated for more than 10 minutes, it will automatically enter sleep mode, and the keyboard will disconnect from Bluetooth to preserve battery life. To wake from sleep mode, press any key on the keyboard and wait 3 seconds, then the keyboard will wake and automatically reconnect.

Charging
Normal use should allow for several weeks between charges. However, when desired or the power indicator light is observed ﬂashing red, indicating low power, follow these procedures:

Step 1: Connect the USB-C cable head to the keyboard and the USB-A/USB-C cable to the
power adapter.
Step 2: When charging, the power indicator light appears solid red. When fully charged, the red power indicator light will turn off.

Safety Precautions

Keep away from oily chemicals or other dangerous liquids. The PA-KA22A includes a removable, replaceable silicone keyboard cover intended to prevent the keys from contamination and to provide basic protection from liquid intrusion. To clean, gently wipe the silicone keyboard cover with isopropyl alcohol. Allow at least 24 hours to dry before powering on again.

Keep away from sharp objects to avoid puncturing the internal lithium-ion battery.
Avoid the risk of keypad obstruction. Do not place heavy objects on the keyboard.

Can I use the PA-KA22A with a case other than the PIVOT A22A?

No. This accessory is currently only compatible with the PIVOT A22A case.

I can't seem to connect the PA-KA22A to my iPad, what can I do?

If the PA-KA22A isn't working correctly, please try the following steps*A. Make sure the PA-KA22A is within 10 meters of the effective working distance.*Make sure Bluetooth pairing is successful. If not, attempt re-pairing.*If pairing is still unsuccessful, remove the existing Bluetooth name from your iPad list and re-pair it through the pairing process described in this guide.*Check the battery status, and if it is low then charge.

Why is the PA-KA22A not charged or not charging correctly?

Make sure the USB-C charging cable is correctly connected to both the accessory and charger power supply*Make sure the charger power supply is correctly connected to a power outlet.

Why does Caps Lock have no function in iOS?

By default, Caps Lock functions as the language switch. If you want to change it to the normal capitalization function, follow these steps:*Apple iOS Settings > General > Keyboard > Enable Caps Lock (Off)

Why don’t the multimedia function keys work in iOS?

They do, but only in the Music app. Open the Music app and then press the corresponding multimedia key in the player. (Previous song, play and pause, next song, stop are all multimedia keys.)
