Quick Start Guide
Wireless DMX Prep
- Connect your DMXcat or console to a Multiverse Node, or any other Multi-verse wireless DMX/RDM transceiver.
- Set a SHoW ID on your Multiverse Node or other Multiverse transceiver. For this example, we’ll use SHoW ID: 24252.
- Select a Universe on your Multiverse Node or other Multiverse transceiver. For this example, we’ll use Universe: 2.
Fixture Prep
- Unscrew two screws on the plastic plate from the base of the MAC Viper XIP fixture using a T10 screwdriver.
- Remove the plastic plate from the base. This exposes the Universal Connect Module plug.
- Attach the Multiverse Connect Mod-ule to the plug using the two screws from the fixture’s plastic plate, ensuring it is securely connected.
Antenna Setup
- Fasten the antenna clip to the fixture base, which will hold the antenna in place.
- Install the antenna by securing it to the Multiverse Connect Module manually.
- Once secured, the Multiverse Connect Module installation is complete.
Fixture Setup
- Click the buttons to the right of the fixture’s screen, to find “DMX Setup” un-der the Main navigation. Navigate to the two sub-menus required for setup: “Wireless” and “DMX Universe.”
- In the “Wireless” menu, the fixture will auto-detect if it is connected to a Multiverse Connect Module.
- Confirm the SHoW ID and SHoW Key match the Multiverse Node, or other wireless DMX transceiver, settings.
The system is now ready to function wirelessly.
Fixture Settings
- Within settings, you can also view “Antenna” information, and change the antenna type to match the installed an-tenna. The default “Omni” setting comes with the Mutiverse Connect Module.
- View output power settings. The default setting is “Mid.”
- Navigate to the “DMX Universe” menu to confirm the selected universe matches the Multiverse Node, or other wireless DMX transceiver. In this example, Universe should equal 2 (refer to step 3).
Access the “Module Name” menu to view additional information, including: City Theatrical manufactur-er name, firmware version, locked and bound status, and signal strength and quality.
- The fixture’s outermost menu will indicate in “DMX Address” whether it is receiving wireless DMX from the Mul-tiverse Connect Module. It displays the SHoW ID and quality as a percentage.
- In the “DMX Live” menu, you can view DMX values.
If appropriately installed and there is active DMX, the source of the DMX will show “UCM”, for Universal Connect Module.
