Mo Trade F45 Carplay Android Auto Interface
Installation Instruction
BMW 2-serie (F45/F46) 2017-2020
The interface is connected via a connection plug on the radio and a video cable on the display. It is estimated to take 30-60 minutes of work to connect the interface. No programming required.
Step 1. Remove the front panel underneath the radio (unclip)
Remove the two screws on the bottom of the front panel. Unclip the panel all around. Disconnect the plug from the light.
Step 2. Remove the control panel from the radio (screw and unclip)
Unscrew the radio control panel at the bottom (two screws). Unclip the panel. It is attached to the top with three clips. Unplug the power cord from the control panel.
Step 3. Remove the front panel with the air vents (unclip)
Unclip the front panel with the air vents all around, using auxiliary tools if necessary.
Beware of any LED lighting wire.
Disconnect the plug from the warning triangle button and the plug from the LED lights (if equipped). The right ventilation grille comes loose with the panel. Place the front panel in a safe place. If the ventilation grille does not come along with the panel, remove it. Snap the vent comforter back onto the front panel.
Step 3. Remove the display (screws)
Remove the two screws from the display and pull the screen out. Be careful not to let the clips on the back fall down! Disconnect the video plug, connect the video cable from the interface to the display, and route the original video plug downwards.
Step 4. Remove the navigation unit (screws)
Remove the two screws from the navigation unit and pull them forward.
Unplug the large black power strip on the back of the radio and remove the integrated plug with the two optical cables (usually green or orange). To do this, pull out the latch with a pointed object so that the plug can be pulled out. Transfer this plug to the interface power strip (press in), then plug this power strip into the radio.
Then connect the other power strip to the socket.
Step 5. Connect the interface (plugs)
Connect the antenna, connection plug, video plug, and any USB extension cable to the interface. Do not stick the antenna to metal.
Step 6. Test the system
Choose BLUETOOTH as the source for sound in the original system. Switch to the interface by pressing the back or return button.
Connect the phone to the bluetooth signal of the interface and turn on WIFI.
The bluetooth connection creates a WIFI network and then disconnects itself.
Test the system with respect to graphics, sound, radio and interface switching, and reverse.
Step 7. Assemble the Interface
Unclip the narrow panel under the glove compartment. Mount the interface under the glove compartment. Route the cables to where the interface will be.
Step 8. Seal the system
Reconnect all parts in reverse order. The system uses the existing microphone.
Step 9. Have fun!
