Getting Started
Meet the Fitbit Ace 3, the next-generation activity and sleep tracker that makes it fun and easy for kids six and up to move and build healthy habits with the whole family.

What's in the box
Your Ace 3 package contains:

- Charging Cable
Setting up Ace 3
Learn how to set up your Ace 3. Log in or create your own Fitbit account, and then create a family account and a child account.
To set up an account, you'll be asked to enter information, such as your child's height, to calculate their activity. If you want to use certain features and view all the data collected by the Ace 3, open the kids' view in the Fitbit app.
Charging your tracker
A fully charged Ace 3 lasts up to eight days. Battery life varies depending on usage and other factors; animated watch faces require more frequent charging.
To charge your Ace 3:
- Connect the charging cable to a USB port on your computer, a UL-certified USB wall charger, or another energy-efficient device.
- Align the pins on the other end of the charging cable with the gold contacts on the back of the Ace 3. Gently press the Ace 3 into the charger until it clicks into place.
To remove the Ace 3 from the charging cable:
- Hold the Ace 3 and slide your thumbnail between the charger and one of the corners on the back of the tracker.
- Gently press on the charger until it detaches from the tracker.
It takes one to two hours for the battery to charge fully. While the tracker is charging, you can tap the buttons to check the battery level. A fully charged tracker displays a full battery icon with a smile.
Setting up on your phone or tablet
Set up your Ace 3 with the Fitbit app. The Fitbit app is compatible with most popular phones and tablets. Go to fitbit.com/devices to see if your phone or tablet is compatible.
Creating a Fitbit Account
Follow the instructions below based on whether you already have a Fitbit account. Use the primary phone, tablet, or computer your child will use with their tracker.
I need to create a Fitbit account:
- Download and install the Fitbit app on your child's device from one of the following locations:
- iPhones and iPads: Apple App Store
- Android phones: Google Play Store
- Open the Fitbit app with the tracker nearby.
- Tap Join Fitbit.
- You'll then be prompted to select your device from the list and tap it.
- Tap Continue.
- Tap Create Account and follow the on-screen instructions to create your Fitbit account.
- Tap the link in the email you receive to verify your email address.
- Return to the Fitbit app and tap Next.
- Tap Create Family Account.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to review the privacy notice.
- Enter your child's information for their account and tap Next.
- On the Choose mobile device screen, tap Pair to this device.
- Confirm that you want to pair the tracker to this device. The kids' view appears.
- Tap Set Up at the top.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your child's tracker.
I already have a Fitbit account:
- With the tracker nearby, open the Fitbit app and sign in to your account.
- Tap the Today tab and tap your profile picture.
- Tap Create Family Account > Create Family. Note that you may be asked to verify your email address.
- Tap + Create Child Account.
- Enter your Fitbit password if prompted.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to review the privacy notice.
- Enter your child's information for their account and tap Next.
- On the Choose mobile device screen, tap Pair to this device.
- Confirm that you want to pair the tracker to this device. The kids' view appears.
- Tap Set Up at the top.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your child's tracker.

Viewing your data in the Fitbit app
Open the Fitbit app on your phone or tablet to view your activity and sleep data, join challenges, and more.
Each time you open the Fitbit app in kids' view, the Ace 3 will automatically sync if it's nearby. You can also use the Sync Now option in the app at any time.

Wearing Ace 3
Wear your Ace 3 on your wrist. If you purchased a band, see "Changing the band" on page 11 for instructions.
Placement
Wear your Ace 3 one finger-width above your wrist bone.
Right or left-handed
For more accurate measurements, it's important to indicate whether you wear your Ace 3 on your dominant or non-dominant hand. Your dominant hand is the hand you use for writing and eating. The wrist settings are initially set for the non-dominant hand. Change the wrist settings in the Fitbit app if you wear your Ace 3 on your dominant hand:
Go to the Today tab in the Fitbit app and tap your profile picture > Ace 3 tile > Wrist > Dominant.
Usage tips
- Clean your band and wrist regularly with a soap-free cleanser.
- If your tracker gets wet, remove it after your activity and dry it completely.
- Take your tracker off now and then.
Changing the band
The Ace 3 comes with a pre-attached wristband for kids. The band can be swapped with other bands, sold separately at fitbit.com. For band sizes, see "Band size" on page 28. Note: for larger sizes or different styles, the Ace 3 is compatible with the classic bands from the Inspire 2.
Removing a band
- Hold the tracker with the screen facing you.
- Gently push the top of the tracker through the opening in the back of the band.
Attaching a new band
- Hold the tracker with the back facing you. Make sure the time is not upside down.
- Hold the band with the opening in the back facing you and the buckle of the wristband at the top.
- Place the top of the tracker into the flexible band and gently push the bottom of the tracker into place. The Ace 3 is securely attached when all edges of the wristband lie flat against the tracker.

Operating the Ace 3
The Ace 3 has a pmoled touchscreen and two buttons. Navigate the Ace 3 by tapping the screen, swiping from top to bottom, or pressing the buttons. When the tracker is not in use, the screen turns off to save battery.
Basic navigation
The home screen is the clock.
- Swipe down to browse the apps on your Ace 3. Tap an app to open it.
- Swipe up to see your daily stats.
Quick settings
Press and hold the buttons on the Ace 3 for quick access to certain settings. Tap a setting to turn it on or off. When you turn off a setting, the icon appears dimmed with a line through it.
On the quick settings screen:
Do Not Disturb
When Do Not Disturb is on:
- Notifications, goal celebrations, and reminders are silenced.
- The Do Not Disturb icon lights up in quick settings.
Sleep Mode
You cannot turn on Do Not Disturb and Sleep Mode at the same time.
When Sleep Mode is on:
- Notifications and reminders are silenced.
- Screen brightness is set to dim.
- The screen stays off when you turn your wrist towards you.
Sleep Mode automatically turns off if you set a schedule. To set a schedule:
- Open the Settings app and tap Sleep Mode.
- Tap Schedule to turn it on.
- Tap Sleep Interval and set the schedule for Sleep Mode. Sleep Mode automatically turns off at the scheduled time, even if you manually turned on Sleep Mode.
You cannot turn on Do Not Disturb and Sleep Mode at the same time.
Wake screen
If Wake Screen is on, turn your wrist towards you to turn on the screen.
Water Lock
Turn on the Water Lock setting when you're in the water, for example, when showering or swimming, to prevent the buttons on your tracker from activating. When Water Lock is on, your screen and buttons are locked. Notifications and alarms still appear on your tracker, but you need to unlock your screen to interact with the tracker.
To turn on Water Lock, press and hold the buttons on your tracker > tap Water Lock > tap the screen twice firmly. Tap the screen twice again to turn off Water Lock.
Customizing settings
Manage basic settings in the Settings app :
- Dim screen: Turn on the Dim Screen setting to lower screen brightness.
- Double-tap: Turn on or off the ability to wake your tracker from sleep by double-tapping it. Note: your screen must be off for at least ten seconds to activate this setting.
- Sleep Mode: Adjust Sleep Mode settings, including setting a schedule for the mode to automatically turn on and off.
- Device Info: View your tracker's regulatory and activation date. This is the date your tracker's warranty begins. The activation date is the date you set up your device.

Checking battery level
Swipe up on the clock face. The battery level icon is at the top of the screen.
Turning off the screen
To turn off your tracker's screen when it's not in use, briefly cover the tracker's clock face with your other hand, press the buttons, or turn your wrist away from your body.
Changing the watch face
The Fitbit clock face gallery offers various clock faces to personalize your tracker. Choose from a variety of kid-friendly clock faces. Keep in mind that animated clock faces require more frequent charging.
- From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap your profile picture > Ace 3 tile.
- Tap Clock Faces > All Clocks.
- Browse the available clock faces. Tap a clock face to see a detailed view.
- Tap Select to add the clock face to your Ace 3.
Notifications from your phone
To keep you informed, the Ace 3 can display call notifications from your phone. Keep your tracker within nine meters (30 feet) of your phone to receive notifications.
Setting up notifications
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on for your phone and that your phone can receive notifications (this is usually set in Settings > Notifications). Then, set up notifications:
- From the Today tab in the Fitbit app, tap your profile picture > Ace 3 tile.
- Tap Notifications.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your tracker if you haven't already.
Call notifications are turned on automatically. For more information, go to help.fitbit.com.
Viewing incoming notifications
If your phone and Ace 3 are within range of each other, the tracker will vibrate for a call. The caller's name or number appears once. Press the buttons to dismiss the notification.
Turning off notifications
Turn off notifications using the quick settings on the Ace 3:
- Press and hold the buttons on your tracker .
- Tap Do Not Disturb to turn on "Do Not Disturb." The Do Not Disturb icon lights up to indicate that all notifications, goal celebrations, and reminders are silenced.
Keep in mind that if you have Do Not Disturb turned on for your phone, you won't receive notifications on your tracker until you turn off this setting.
Tracking time
Alarms vibrate to wake you or alert you at a time you set. You can set up to eight alarms that go off once or on multiple days of the week. You can also record event times with the stopwatch or set a countdown timer.
Using the Alarms app
Set one-time or recurring alarms using the Alarms app . Your tracker vibrates when an alarm goes off.

Turning off or snoozing an alarm
The tracker vibrates when an alarm goes off. Press the buttons to turn off the alarm. Swipe down to snooze the alarm for nine minutes.
You can snooze the alarm as many times as you want. Your Ace 3 alarm automatically snoozes if you ignore the alarm for more than one minute.

Activity and wellness
The Ace 3 continuously tracks various stats while you wear it. Data syncs automatically to the Fitbit app throughout the day.
Viewing your stats
Swipe up from the clock face on your tracker to view your daily stats, including:

In the Fitbit app, you'll find your complete history and other information recorded by your tracker.
Tracking a daily activity goal
The Ace 3 tracks your progress toward a daily goal of your choice. When you reach your goal, your tracker vibrates and displays a congratulatory message.
Choosing a goal
Start with a goal of 10,000 steps per day. Choose to change the number of steps or pick a different activity goal depending on your device.

Tracking your hourly movement
The Ace 3 helps you stay active throughout the day by tracking when you're inactive and reminding you to move.
These reminders prompt you to take at least 250 steps per hour. Ten minutes before the hour is up, you'll feel a vibration and see a notification on the screen that you haven't taken 250 steps yet. If you reach the 250-step goal after receiving the reminder, you'll feel a second vibration and see a congratulatory message.

Tracking your sleep
Wear your Ace 3 in bed to automatically track your sleep and movement at night to help you understand your sleep pattern. Sync your tracker when you wake up and check the Fitbit app to see your sleep stats, including when you went to bed, how long you slept, and how long you were awake or restless.

Setting a sleep goal
Your goal is initially set to nine hours of sleep per night. You can adjust this goal to your own needs.

Getting better insight into your sleep habits
The Ace 3 records various sleep stats, such as when you went to bed, how long you slept, and how long you were awake or restless. Keep an eye on your sleep habits with the Ace 3 and check the Fitbit app to see your sleep pattern.
Updating, restarting, and erasing
Discover how to update, restart, and erase your Ace 3.
Updating Ace 3
Update your tracker to receive the latest feature improvements and product updates.
When an update is available, a notification appears in the Fitbit app. After you start the update, follow the progress bar on your Ace 3 and in the Fitbit app until the update is complete. Keep your tracker and phone close together during the update.
Updating the Ace 3 takes a few minutes and may reduce battery life. We recommend placing your tracker in the charger before starting the update.

Restarting Ace 3
If you can't sync your Ace 3 or are experiencing issues tracking your stats or receiving notifications, you can restart your tracker from your wrist:
- Open the Settings app and tap Restart Device.
- Press and hold the screen for three seconds and release. The tracker restarts when you see a smiley face .
If the Ace 3 doesn't respond:
- Connect the charging cable to the Ace 3. For instructions, see "Charging your tracker" on page 6.
- Press and hold the buttons on your tracker for five seconds. Release the buttons. The tracker restarts when you see a smiley face .
Erasing Ace 3
If you're giving your Ace 3 to someone else or returning it, you must erase your personal data first:
- Open the Settings app on the Ace 3 > Erase User Data.
- Press the screen for 3 seconds when prompted and release. The data is erased when you see a smiley face and your tracker vibrates.
Troubleshooting
If you experience any of the following problems, restart your tracker:
- Doesn't sync
- Doesn't respond to taps, swipes, or button presses
- Steps or other data aren't recorded
- Doesn't show notifications

Haptic feedback
The Ace 3 has a vibration motor that provides a signal for alarms, goals, notifications, reminders, and apps.

The Ace 3 is equipped with a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery.
Memory
Your Ace 3 stores your data, including daily stats, sleep data, and activity history, for seven days. View your historical data in the Fitbit app.
Display
The Ace 3 has a pmoled screen.

Universal band: Fits a wrist with a circumference of 121 - 172 mm.
