Smart Start

The Ford Fusion Energi offers advanced features for efficient driving and charging.

Plug-in Power

Your Fusion Energi comes equipped with a 120-volt convenience cord stored in the trunk. This cord allows charging using a standard 120-volt grounded household outlet. For faster charging, an available 240-volt charging station can provide a full charge in approximately 2.5 hours. Consult your dealer for more information.

Charge Port/Light Ring

The charge port is located between the front left side door and front left wheel well. To open, press the indentation on the charge port door. To close, press and hold the indentation until the door rotates and closes.

Fusion Energi Charging

  1. Put your vehicle in Park (P) and turn the ignition off.
  2. Open the charge port door by pressing its indentation; the door will rotate open.
  3. Plug the charging cord into the wall outlet first, then connect the charging coupler to the vehicle's charge port receptacle.
  4. Plug the charging coupler into the vehicle's charge port. Ensure it clicks to lock. The light ring will flash clockwise twice, indicating the start of a normal charge cycle.
  5. To disconnect, press the button on the charging coupler and remove it from the vehicle.

Choose Your Energy Mode

Select driver-selectable EV modes via the EV button on the center console:

  • Auto EV: Automatically selects between gasoline and electric motor, prioritizing electric when possible. The engine runs when needed. This is the default mode if plug-in power is depleted.
  • EV Now: Engages an all-electric driving experience using plug-in power.
  • EV Later: Switches to hybrid mode, reserving plug-in power for later use.

SmartGauge® with EcoGuide

Use the 5-way steering wheel controls to customize dual LCD screens for real-time information on your plug-in hybrid, including distance traveled and fuel level. Visit PlugintoFord.com for more on the Fusion Energi and the electric vehicle lifestyle.

Preconditioning

Condition the cabin while plugged in by setting a planned departure time (GO Time). This uses home/station energy instead of the battery. Cabin conditioning is limited to 15 minutes before GO Time. Effectiveness may be reduced in extreme temperatures or with 120V charging.

MyFord® Mobile App

Available at MyFordmobile.com. Check charge status, schedule charging, precondition the vehicle, remote start, and find charge points. Register at MyFordmobile.com to download the app.

Value Charging

The app provides utility rate data to inform you when the cheapest charging rates are available, allowing you to charge during off-peak hours. Contact your utility company for rate plan details.

Instrument Panel

The instrument panel provides critical information about your vehicle's status and operation.

Left Vehicle Info Display

Fusion Energi Features

Explore the unique features of the Fusion Energi.

Silent Key Start (SKS)

The engine may not sound like it has started because the vehicle is in silent mode. Look for the "Ready to Drive" indicator light in the instrument cluster when the vehicle is successfully started.

Automatic Shutdown

For intelligent access vehicles, the vehicle shuts down after extended idling to save battery power. A message appears to allow override. The intelligent access key must be inside for ignition. A warning sounds if exiting with the key while the vehicle is still on.

High-voltage Lithium-ion Battery System

The battery pack requires no regular service and is located behind the rear seats. Keep the vented battery compartment clear of obstructions. Service must be performed by an authorized technician.

Unique Driving Characteristics

  • Plug-in Power Mode: Adds electrical energy for propulsion. The battery gauge shows estimated electric-only range. Powertrain conditions may require engine operation, returning to plug-in power when possible.
  • Hybrid Mode: When plug-in power is depleted, the system switches to hybrid mode, using both gasoline and electric power. The battery gauge changes to show state of charge percentage.

ECO Cruise Control

Saves energy by slowing acceleration, especially uphill. Can be turned off via Driver Assist settings.

EV+ Mode

Learns frequent destinations to enable more EV driving. Should make it easier to stay in electric mode near home. The EV indicator displays EV+. Frequent destinations can be cleared via a Lifetime Summary reset.
