Quick Start Guide
24-Port 1U Rack-Mount Power over Ethernet (PoE)* 110 Patch Panels
Models: N052-P24 (Cat5e), N252-P24 (Cat6)
Introduction
To maximize performance with Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications, these patch panels are specially designed to prevent spark-gap erosion that degrades the plug and jack contacts over time and can impact data and/or power transmission capabilities.
Installation
Follow these steps to install the patch panel:
- Strip the cable jacket approximately 1.25 inches (30 mm).
- Seat each wire according to the wiring scheme. Ensure the untwisted length is as short as possible. Avoid overlapping one pair over the others. Note: 110 punchdown orientation may vary by model.
- Use a 110 impact tool for termination. Note: Set the tool to the "Low Impact" setting.
- To maintain stable performance, ensure the cable bundles are secured with the attached straps.
Figure 1: T568A/B Wiring Scheme Description
Figure 1 illustrates the T568A/B wiring scheme. This scheme defines the order in which the individual wires within an Ethernet cable should be terminated onto the 110 punchdown block of the patch panel. Proper adherence to the scheme ensures correct data and power transmission. The diagram would typically show the color-coded wires being punched down into specific slots on the 110 block according to the chosen standard (T568A or T568B).
