Getting Started
Thank you for choosing the Smart RGB+IC LED Flow Light Strip by Monster Smart Illuminessence. This Quick Start Guide will help you with setup and installation of your device.

- 6.5ft/2m Smart RGB+IC LED Flow Light Strip with attached controller and preinstalled mounting adhesive

What Do You Need?
- Cellphone or tablet with Android™™ 6.0 Marshmallow or higher/iOS 10 or higher
- Wi-Fi router with an internet connection
- Wi-Fi 2.4GHz 802.11n
- Rubbing alcohol to clean the installation surface
Before setup, make sure your phone or tablet is connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network that your LED Strip will be placed on. For easier pairing, turn on Location and Bluetooth to quickly find nearby devices.
TIP: Do you know your Wi-Fi network name and password? Write it down now if it's hard to remember.
Your LED Light Strip comes with preinstalled mounting adhesive, but you could use the included mounting clips and screws if you would like a more permanent installation. You will need a phillips head screwdriver to install with the clips.
TIP: Save these instructions for future reference.
Setup Before Installation
Remove your LED Strip and all components from the box. It is recommended to first pair your device in a location close to your router BEFORE installation.
NOTE: If desired, you can operate the device with the controller and without pairing to Wi-Fi and without the app. Advanced features like color customization, scheduling, and voice control will not be available. (See "How To Use" on page 5)

Step 1
Download the MONSTER SMART app from the App Store (for iPhone) or Google Play Store (for Android phones).

Step 2
Make sure your phone or tablet is successfully connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network that your device will be placed on and ensure that your Bluetooth is enabled.
Open the MONSTER SMART app and create an account by following the on-screen instructions.
NOTE: Most Smart devices only work on a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Many newer home Wi-Fi networks are mixed networks that are set to 5GHz by default (ex: AT&T, Verizon) and you may need to use AP pairing mode to connect. If you still have difficulty, contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance with 2.4GHz network setup.

Step 3
Connect the USB plug to a powered 5V 2A USB wall adapter (not included) and the light should turn on. If needed press the multifunction button twice to turn on the light.
Press and hold the multifunction button for 5-6 seconds to enter pairing mode. The light will begin blinking rapidly when it has entered pairing mode and is ready to pair.

Step 4
Confirm that the device is in pairing mode, LED is RAPIDLY blinking. In the MONSTER SMART app, select the "+" [Add Device] icon in the upper right corner of the home screen to add a new device.
The app will detect the nearby Wi-Fi+BLE enabled device and ask if you would like to add it, click "Go to add".
Ensure that the device is checked and then click the "+" [Add Device] button.

Step 5
Confirm that the network displayed is your 2.4GHz WI-Fi network, then enter your Wi-Fi password and click "Confirm".
Connecting Now 75%
NOTE: This may take up to one minute. Ensure your device and phone are as close to your router as possible.
Once complete, your device will be connected to the network. Confirm or change the settings for your device and then click "Done". Your device is now setup and ready to use!
You can now use the app to add voice control (see pg 8), adjust settings, create custom lighting effects, set schedules, and more!
Installation

Step 1
Determine where you will install the LED Strip. Make sure the location is close enough to a power source. Ensure that the mounting surface is smooth and clean.
Clean the mounting surface with a clean cloth and rubbing alcohol to remove any dust or oils that will weaken the adhesive. Be sure to let this surface dry before installation.
NOTE: This adhesive is not recommended for use on unpainted brick, raw wood, uneven/bumpy surfaces, or wallpaper.

Step 2
Peel off the beginning of the adhesive backing and firmly stick the LED Strip onto the surface. Peel off more of the adhesive backing as you mount the LED Strip, pressing on each section of the strip for 10 seconds as you place it.
TIP: For best mounting results, place adhesive onto the desired surface with ONE attempt. Reapplying multiple times will not guarantee secure mounting onto the surface.

Step 3
Connect the USB plug to a powered 5V 2A USB wall adapter (not included). The LED Strip will automatically reconnect to the paired Wi-Fi network and will now be ready to use!
OPTIONAL: Using the included mounting clips and screws, and a phillips head screwdriver (not included), install the mounting clips over the LED Strip in equal intervals.
TIP: If desired, you can cut the light strip to shorter lengths by cutting on the designated scissors marks. Note: You cannot connect additional light strips to this product.
How to Use
Your LED Light Strip can be easily controlled by the controller, using the MONSTER SMART app to access advanced and customizable lighting effects, or by using a compatible voice assistant product (see page 8).
Button Control
- POWER: Double click - click twice quickly to power on or off your device.
- SCENES: Click - change between preset scenes in Static, Dynamic, Music, and DIY (or access the custom edits of those scenes, requires Wi-Fi pairing and app).
- RESET: Press and hold - reset the device and to pair to your Wi-Fi network (microphone opening).
App Control: Scenes
Open the MONSTER SMART app and click on your device from the list of available paired devices.
- EDIT SCENES: Allows you to edit scene thumbnails, names, colors, saturation, brightness, and speed.
- WHITE: Multiwhite selector wheel and buttons with brightness adjust.
- COLOR: Multicolor selector wheel and buttons with brightness adjust.
- STATIC: Customizable static color scenes with color selectors and brightness adjust. Each Static scene has its own unique pattern.
- DYNAMIC: Flowing multicolor scenes with brightness/speed adjust.
- MUSIC: Sound reactive multicolor scenes with mic sensitivity adjust.
- DIY: Customizable flowing multicolor scenes with color selectors, brightness, and speed adjust. Create and save your favorites!
Grouping Devices
Your LED Strip is great to use in multiples; you can control each separately or easily group multiple lights together in the app to control them all as one. Click on the settings button [⚙️] in the upper right corner and then click "Create Group" to group your devices.
NOTE: Grouping different Monster Smart Illuminessence devices with different features may cause communication issues when selecting Scenes. For best results create groups of the same products. If you would like to group together different items, it is recommended to control using the Color settings only, rather than Scenes.

Q: My phone or tablet is not successfully connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network?
A: Ensure your phone or tablet is connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Search for your device in the "Search" tab of the MONSTER SMART app. If you are still having trouble, try the "AP Pairing Mode" by following the on-screen instructions in the app.
Q: I am unable to add my device to the app?
A: Ensure your phone or tablet is connected to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Ensure your Bluetooth is enabled. If you are still having trouble, try the "AP Pairing Mode" by following the on-screen instructions in the app.
Q: Can I use the LED Light Strip with a 5GHz Wi-Fi network?
A: No, the LED Light Strip only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi networks.
Q: Can I control the LED Light Strip without a Wi-Fi connection?
A: Yes, you can use the controller to turn the device on/off and cycle through preset scenes. However, advanced features like voice control, scheduling, and custom effects require a Wi-Fi connection and the MONSTER SMART app.
Q: Can I cut the LED Light Strip?
A: Yes, you can cut the light strip to shorter lengths by cutting on the designated scissors marks. Note: You cannot connect additional light strips to this product.
Q: The light strip is not responding to the app or voice commands.
A: Ensure the light strip is powered on and connected to your Wi-Fi network. Try restarting the app and the light strip. If the issue persists, try resetting the device by pressing and holding the multifunction button for 5-6 seconds until it blinks rapidly, then re-pair it with the app.

Voice Control
Google Voice Control Setup
Ensure your Google Home device is installed and set up.
- Open the Google Home app on your phone or tablet.
- Tap "Set up device".
- Select "Works with Google".
- Search for "Monster Smart" and select it.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to link your Monster Smart account.
Once linked, you can control your LED Light Strip with voice commands like "Hey Google, turn on the living room lights" or "Hey Google, set the bedroom lights to blue".
Amazon Alexa Voice Control Setup
Ensure your Amazon Alexa device is installed and set up.
- Open the Amazon Alexa app on your phone or tablet.
- Tap "More" and then "Skills & Games".
- Search for "Monster Smart" and select it.
- Tap "Enable to Use".
- Follow the on-screen instructions to link your Monster Smart account.
Once linked, you can control your LED Light Strip with voice commands like "Alexa, turn on the living room lights" or "Alexa, set the bedroom lights to blue".
Siri Voice Control Setup
Ensure your iOS device is updated and Siri is enabled.
- Open the MONSTER SMART app.
- Navigate to your device and tap the settings icon [⚙️].
- Tap "Add to Siri" or "Siri Shortcuts".
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create custom Siri commands for your LED Light Strip, such as "Hey Siri, set my lights to party mode".
You can now use Siri to activate scenes or control your lights with custom voice commands.
