The Maonocaster E2 offers three-step microphone gain options to optimize the performance of various microphone types. The gain control toggle, labeled "Microphone 1", is located on the rear panel.
Microphone Connection Notes
- Note 1: Before connecting an XLR microphone, confirm its type. Condenser microphones typically output at -30~-40dB, while dynamic microphones output at -50~-60dB.
- Note 2: Verify if your microphone requires phantom power. XLR condenser microphones usually need 48V phantom power, whereas dynamic microphones do not.
Microphone Gain Setup
The Maonocaster E2 provides three gain levels (40dB, 50dB, 60dB) for different microphones.
For Condenser Microphones:
1. Turn off the Maonocaster E2 and set the microphone volume to the lowest level.
2. Connect the condenser microphone.
3. Set the "Microphone 1" control to 40dB.
4. Turn on the Maonocaster E2 and the 48V phantom power.
5. Wait for 5 seconds, then adjust the microphone volume to the desired level.
For Dynamic Microphones:
1. Turn off the Maonocaster E2 and set the microphone volume to the lowest level.
2. Connect the dynamic microphone.
3. Set the "Microphone 1" control to the appropriate level (e.g., 50dB). For example, if the microphone's output level is 54dB, you might set the control to 50dB.
4. Wait for 5 seconds, then adjust the microphone volume to the desired level.
High-Output Dynamic Microphones: If using microphones like Shure SM7b, Electro-Voice RE20, or Rode Podmic, you may need to try the 60dB setting.
Troubleshooting Voice Crackle: If you experience voice crackle, try lowering the "microphone 1" gain control. Alternatively, use a different microphone with the Maonocaster E2.
Hearing Protection: To prevent hearing damage, gradually adjust the gain from 40dB, 50dB, and 60dB to find a comfortable and proper listening level.
