Product Overview
The Mitutoyo ABS Digimatic Indicator ID-C is a standard digital indicator designed for improved readability, usability, and functionality. It is manufactured at Mitutoyo's Nakatsugawa plant in Gifu prefecture, Japan, which specializes in sensor products and handles the complete development-to-production cycle for measuring instruments. The plant, established in 1997, utilizes state-of-the-art production techniques to deliver high-quality products used globally.
The ID-C features a large LCD display with 11mm characters, offering significantly improved visibility compared to previous 8.5mm character displays. It also incorporates three large, easy-to-press buttons for enhanced operational ease. This affordable indicator provides various measurement functions, including scaling calculations, tolerance judgment, data holding, and general comparison measurements.
The product is available in several models, including 543-392B, 547-472B, and 543-492B, each offering different specifications.
Key Features
1. Large LCD Display
Features a large LCD incorporating 11mm characters, providing 1.5 times the character area of previous models (8.5mm characters), making measurement values much easier to read. ? Actual Size
2. Three Large Buttons
Utilizes a popular three-button design, similar to the ABS coolant-proof Digimatic indicators ID-N/ID-B, for easier pressing and operation. The buttons include:
- MODE: Switches between ABS (preset) and INC (zeroset) measurement modes.
- SET: Used for parameter setting (e.g., count direction, tolerance judgment, resolution, scale factor, function lock) and switching measurement modes when pressed and held for at least two seconds.
- DATA ON/OFF: Functions as a power switch and for data output (when connected to an external device) or data hold (when no external device is connected).
3. Expanded Lifting Capability
The spindle lifting function has been enhanced for improved work efficiency when the ID-C is mounted on a stand. A lifting lever (special accessory) can be mounted on either side for models with a 12.7mm measuring range. A lifting cable (special accessory) allows for up to approximately 25.4mm of spindle movement, covering the full measuring range for 12.7mm or 25.4mm models. For 50.8mm models, it allows retraction by approximately 25.4mm. A lifting knob (special accessory) enables full-stroke operation without direct spindle contact. ? 4. Functions Supporting Measurement
The ID-C offers versatile functions including data holding, data output, measurement direction switching, tolerance judgment, scale factor adjustment, and a function lock to prevent accidental changes. For detailed information, refer to page 6.
5. 330° Rotary Display
The display can be rotated up to 330°, allowing users to position it for optimal readability of measurement values.

6. Application Products for One-Touch Quick Measurement
Various application products are available for quick, one-touch measurements of small parts, papers, felt, lenses, pipes, and for measuring groove depth and steps.
7. ABS (ABSOLUTE) Sensor
Features Mitutoyo's original ABS (ABSOLUTE) sensor, which retains the origin position even after power off, enabling immediate measurement startup. It also allows restoration of the ABS measurement mode after use in INC mode, enhancing work efficiency.
8. Inspection Certificate Provided as Standard
Each product is shipped with an inspection certificate detailing inspection data, ensuring high quality and safety. Calibration certificates, traceable to national or international standards, can be provided for a fee upon request. These certificates are issued based on measurements taken with dedicated Mitutoyo testers.

- Spindle orientation for measurement:
- Standard models (12.7mm range): No restrictions.
- Standard models (25.4mm or 50.8mm range): Normally vertical downward to horizontal. Requires reverse-position coil spring (special accessory) for upward measurement.
- Low measuring force models: Refer to 'Setting measuring force on low measuring force models' on page 5.
- Position detection method: Capacitance type absolute linear encoder.

Functions
- Zero-setting function: For INC measurement mode.
- Preset function: For ABS scale origin setting. Values can be easily changed using SET and MODE buttons.
- 330° Rotary Display: Allows for flexible positioning of the display for optimal viewing.
- Resolution Switching: Models with 0.001mm or .00005" resolution can switch to 0.01mm, .0001", or .0005" resolution.
- Data Output: Measurement data can be output to a PC via compact printer, Digimatic mini processor DP-1VR, or input tool. Wireless transmission is possible using the U-WAVE system.
- Switching the direction: The measuring direction can be reversed.
- Judging the tolerance: Performs OK/+NG/-NG judgments based on set upper/lower limit values, with enlarged display of symbols.
- Display value holding: Holds the displayed value when no external device is connected.
- Calculation: f(x) = Ax: Allows direct measurement by setting a calculation factor, eliminating the need for conversion tables.
- Function locking: Prevents accidental changes to preset function settings, ensuring measurement reliability.
