Stäubli MC4/MC4-Evo 2 Cable Assembly MA711

Assembly Instructions

Valid for: PV-MC4/MC4-Evo 2

Safety Instructions

Importance of the Assembly Instructions

NOT following the assembly and safety instructions could result in life-threatening injuries due to electric shock, electric arcs, fire, or failure of the system.

Intended Use

PV DC connection cable assembled on one or both sides with MC4 or MC4-Evo 2, for installation or prepared for further assembly.

Requirements for Personnel

Only an electrician or electrically instructed person may assemble, install, and commission the system.

Prerequisites for Installation and Assembly

Mating and Disconnecting

Live parts can remain energized after isolation or disconnection.

Do NOT Modify NOR Repair Component

Required Tools

For mating and disconnecting connectors, the following tools are recommended:

[Diagram: Shows the PV-MS-PLS tool set and the PV-MS open-end spanner set.]

Mating and Disconnecting

Note: Unmated connectors must be protected from any contamination using Stäubli sealing caps (PV-BVK4, Order No. 32.0716; PV-SVK4, Order No. 32.0717).

Mating

Mate the cable coupler until a “click” can be heard. Check correct engagement by lightly pulling on the connector (maximum pulling force: 20 N).

[Diagram: Shows two connectors being pushed together until they click. A subsequent illustration shows a red cross over a partially connected connector, indicating it is not permitted, and a green checkmark over a fully connected connector, indicating correct engagement.]

Attention: Assembly of not fully engaged connectors is not permitted as this could lead to a permanent deflection of clips and thus to a potential loss of the locking function. The engaged connector locking function has to be verified.

Disconnecting

Use PV-MS-PLS/2 or PV-MS to disconnect.

[Diagram: Shows the PV-MS-PLS tool being used to disconnect two connected solar connectors.]

General Notes on Installation

Cable Routing

Cable management must allow a minimum of 20 mm of cable that exits straight from the cable seal without bending or stress. Refer to cable manufacturer specification for minimum bending radius.

[Diagram: Shows a cable exiting a connector's cable seal, indicating a minimum of 20 mm of straight cable exit. A bent cable is shown with a red cross over it, indicating it is not allowed.]

In particular, the application notes according to Annex A of IEC 62930 must be observed.
