Note on Load Limits:
- The maximum payload for two-bike versions is 60 kg.
- The maximum payload for three-bike versions is 68 kg.
- The "Strada E-Bike ML" for two bikes has a maximum payload of 59.2 kg. With the optional SES extension kit, this is 67 kg.
- The "Strada Sport M3 JLR" has a maximum payload of 51 kg, with individual bike weight limited to 20 kg. It cannot be used with the SES extension kit.
- For all basic racks, individual bike weight is limited to 30 kg. For the SES extension kit, it's 17 kg.
- The total weight of the rack and payload must not exceed the static hook load of the tow bar.
Installation and Removal
Detailed step-by-step instructions with diagrams are provided for both mounting and dismounting the carrier. Key steps include:
- Attaching the carrier to the tow ball coupling.
- Securing the carrier using the locking mechanism and ensuring the coupling indicator shows green.
- Removing the carrier by operating the release lever and tilting the carrier down.
Important Installation Notes:
- Ensure the tow ball and pole are a single, strong part, free from weak points like drill holes or welds.
- The tow ball pole material should be St 52-3 or equivalent; GGG 40 or aluminum are not suitable.
- The D-value of the towing hook must be at least 7.6 kN. If lower, specific calculations based on horizontal (L) and vertical (K) distances from the tow ball to the first clamping point are required to determine suitability.
Safety and Legal Information
German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO):
- The vehicle's license plate must be repeated on the rear carrier. This repeated plate does not require a TÜV or registration stamp.
- The carrier has an ECE approval (E4-26R-03 0336 Ext. 02). It can be mounted without further TÜV inspection if ECE approval conditions (especially regarding support load) are met.
- Third Brake Light: For vehicles type-approved after October 1, 1998, the carrier or load must not obstruct the third brake light. If visibility conditions (10° horizontal, 10° vertical) are not met, the third brake light must be repeated on the carrier.
General Safety:
- Check the carrier's fixation regularly before each journey.
- If rear visibility is obstructed, use adequate rearview mirrors.
- Adjust driving speed considering the altered handling and braking performance due to the carrier and load.
- If the load extends more than 40 cm beyond the carrier's lights, it must be marked with appropriate front (white) and rear (red) lights.
ECE Approval Details
The document includes a copy of the ECE approval certificate from the RDW (Netherlands), confirming the approval number E4*26R03/03*0336*02 for the Atera STRADA SPORT M (Type SSP 2/3).
