Front Panel Controls

The front panel features various controls for shaping your tone and managing the amplifier's functions. The following describes each control, referencing the numbers on the panel diagram.

Control Panel Diagram Description: The front panel features a control layout with numbered sections from 1 to 21. It includes input jacks, equalization controls, gain controls, voicing, reverb, chorus, and power sections.

Inputs:

  • 1. HIGH GAIN INPUT: Used for most electric guitars. It is 10 dB louder than the Low Gain input.
  • 2. LOW GAIN INPUT: Provided for instruments with extremely high outputs. If both inputs are used simultaneously, the output levels are the same (both are High Gain).

Normal Channel Controls:

  • 3. NORMAL GAIN: Controls the volume level of the Normal channel. Not affected by SuperSat® or Post Gain controls.

Chorus Effect Controls:

  • 4. CHORUS SELECT SWITCH: The "in" position activates the Chorus effect; "out" defeats it. Must be activated to be controlled via remote footswitch.
  • 13. RATE CONTROL: Controls the sweep rate (frequency) of the chorus effect.
  • 14. DEPTH CONTROL: Controls the depth (intensity) of the chorus effect.

Channel Select & EQ:

  • 5. CHANNEL SELECT SWITCH: Selects between Lead ("in") or Normal ("out") channel. Can also be controlled by remote footswitch.
  • 6. LOW, MID, & HIGH EQ: Passive tone controls for low, mid, and high frequencies, respectively.

Lead Channel & Gain Controls:

  • 7. SUPERSAT®/PULL GAIN: A transistor simulation of tube distortion (soft clipping). Pulling the knob activates SuperSat and boosts overall system gain. Lead channel must be active.
  • 8. POST GAIN: Controls the overall volume level of the Lead channel. Adjust after desired sound is achieved.

Active Tone Controls (Lead Channel Only):

  • 9. BOTTOM: Active tone control (shelving type ±15 dB) for low frequency boost/cut. Not functional on Normal channel.
  • 10. BODY: Active tone control (peak/notch, ±15 dB) for mid frequency boost/cut. Not functional on Normal channel.
  • 11. EDGE: Active tone control (shelving type, ±15 dB) for high frequency boost/cut. Not functional on Normal channel.

Effects & Indicators:

  • 12. REVERB: Controls the overall reverb level.
  • 15. POWER LED: Illuminates when AC power is supplied.
  • 16. POWER SWITCH: Depress to "On" position. Red pilot light (LED) illuminates when power is supplied.

Rear Panel Connections:

  • 17. LINE CORD (120V PRODUCTS ONLY): 3-wire grounded power cord.
  • 18. PREAMP OUT MIX 2: Routes amplified signal to mixers, tape recorders, etc. Outputs a mixed chorus signal (dry + chorused) if only this jack is used. If both Preamp Out jacks are used, only the chorused signal appears here.
  • 19. STEREO HEADPHONE JACK: For stereo headsets. One channel gets chorus signal, the other gets dry signal. Monaural headsets not recommended.
  • 20. PREAMP OUT DRY 1: Routes amplified signal to mixers, tape recorders, etc. Outputs a dry (unchorused) signal. Always present, even when both Preamp Out jacks are engaged. Use when chorus effect is not desired.
  • 21. REMOTE SWITCH: For optional footswitch (#5996) to select Lead/Normal channels and defeat reverb/chorus.
