ART PATCH In
Compact Pedalboard Patch-bay / Insert Point
by ARTcessories™
Product Overview
The ART PATCH In is a compact pedalboard patch-bay and insert point designed by ARTcessories™, offering creative audio solutions for musicians. It is a passive device, meaning it does not require a power source to operate.
Operation and Features
The primary function of the PATCH In is to manage signal routing on a pedalboard. Its operation depends on whether a cable is plugged into its "Return" jack:
- When no cable is connected to the "Return" jack: The "In" jack is internally connected to both the "Send" and "Out" jacks.
- When a cable is plugged into the "Return" jack: The "In" jack is connected only to the "Send" jack, and the "Return" jack is connected to the "Out" jack.
This switching capability enables several useful applications:
- Inserting Additional Effects: Allows for the seamless integration of effects pedals or an effects loop into the signal chain.
- Signal Splitting: Facilitates routing your guitar signal to two different amplifiers or signal paths simultaneously.
- Four-Cable Method: Supports the setup for using an amp's effects loop, either in a pre/post configuration or an all-pre configuration if the amp lacks an effects loop.
- Simple Patch Bay: Acts as a convenient central point for routing your pedalboard's input and output signals.
Usage Examples
PATCH In As An Insert
This configuration is ideal for inserting an effects loop into your signal chain. The guitar signal enters the PATCH In's "In" jack. From the PATCH In's "Send" jack, the signal goes to the input of an external effects unit or loop (e.g., a delay pedal, overdrive/distortion pedal, tuner). The output of this external effect then connects back to the PATCH In's "Return" jack. Finally, the PATCH In's "Out" jack sends the processed signal to the amplifier.
PATCH In As A Splitter
In this setup, the PATCH In is used to duplicate your guitar signal. The signal enters the "In" jack. The PATCH In then provides two separate outputs, labeled "OUT 1" and "OUT 2", allowing the signal to be sent to two different destinations, such as two amplifiers or two different signal processing chains.
