  4. Do not move workpiece while compressed.
  5. Release load before service or maintenance.
  6. Bolt the press to the floor before use.
  7. Keep the area under the arbor plates clear. Obstructions can create an uneven press, leading to excess stress and potential breakage.
  8. Avoid off-center loads. Do not operate if the workpiece tilts or binds during compression.
  9. STOP and release compression immediately if structural failure is suspected. Inspect thoroughly and reposition before proceeding, if safe.
  10. Do not compress springs or other elastic objects, as they could disengage hazardously.
  11. Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles, heavy-duty work gloves, and steel-toe work boots during setup and use.
  12. Keep bystanders out of the work area.
  13. Do not stand directly in front of the press when loaded. Do not leave the press unattended when loaded.
  14. Do not operate the hydraulic jack beyond its rated capacity.

Diagram Description

The diagram illustrates the VEVOR 12T Shop Press. It shows the main frame structure, including the base (feet, support rods), uprights, and the top beam. The hydraulic jack (5) is positioned centrally, with its ram extending downwards. The handle assembly (6, 7) is attached to the jack for operation. The arbor plates (21) are depicted in the work area. Various fasteners like bolts (2, 16, 17, 22), nuts (13, 20), and washers (4, 15, 18, 19) are indicated by numbers corresponding to the parts list. Springs are also visible within the press structure.

Operation Instructions

  1. The 20-Ton Shop Press comes with two Arbor Plates, which can be used individually or connected.
  2. To set the aprons (work height), slide the pins through the opposite adjustment holes on the press frame legs and secure them with the R-clips.
  3. Place an Arbor Plate onto the press apron, ensuring it is centered.
  4. WARNING: Ensure Arbor Plates do not rest on obstructions (e.g., bolts, debris) as this can create an uneven base, leading to unusual stress and potential breakage or injury.
  5. Insert the narrower end of the jack handle (with the pin) into the larger handle and engage the pin into the "T" slot.
  6. Using the slotted end of the jack handle, tighten (turn clockwise) the relief valve of the jack.
  7. Insert the larger tube of the jack handle into the Jack Handle Connector located on the side of the jack.
  8. Pump the handle up and down to extend the jack and operate the shop press.
  9. WARNING: If any structural failure is detected, stop using the shop press immediately. If necessary, have the unit repaired by a qualified service technician.
  10. When finished, remove the jack handle from the Jack Handle Connector and loosen (turn counter-clockwise) the relief valve of the jack.

Bleeding the Bottle Jack

  1. Remove the Oil Fill Plug on the back of the jack to expose the Oil Fill Hole.
  2. Open the Release Valve on the front of the jack. Insert the Jack Handle into the Pump Core. Slowly pump the handle to force air out of the Oil Fill Hole.
  3. When oil starts to come out of the hole, stop pumping. Replace the Oil Fill Plug and close the Release Valve.
  4. Check the oil level; it should be just below the Oil Fill Hole. If necessary, fill with high-quality hydraulic oil.

Maintenance

Caution: Always release the load from the Shop Press before performing any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning.

  1. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Shop Press. Check for structural failure, loose, cracked, bent, or damaged parts, misalignment or binding of moving parts, and any other condition that may affect safe operation. Do not use damaged equipment.
  2. To prevent rust, coat all exposed surfaces with a light-weight oil.
  3. Always keep the Arbor Plates and Press Apron area clean and free of oil and other lubricants.
  4. To clean, wipe with a clean, damp cloth.
  5. When storing, keep the Shop Press covered with a clean drop cloth in a cool, dry location.

Troubleshooting

WARNING: Use caution when troubleshooting a malfunctioning jack. Resolve all problems completely before use. If the solutions in this guide do not solve the problem, have a qualified technician inspect and repair the jack before use. After repair, test carefully without a load by raising and lowering it fully, checking for proper operation, BEFORE RETURNING THE JACK TO OPERATION.

DO NOT USE A DAMAGED OR MALFUNCTIONING JACK!

Jack will not function at its weight capacitySaddle lowers under loadPump stroke feels spongySaddle will not lift all the wayHandle moves up when jack is under loadOil leaking from filler plugProbable Solution (Make certain that the Jack is not supporting a load while attempting a solution.)
XXCheck that Release Valve is closed fully. Valves may be blocked and may not close fully. To flush the valves: 1. Lower the Saddle and securely close the Release Valve. 2. Manually lift the saddle several inches. 3. Open the Release Valve and force the saddle down as quickly as possible.
XXXJack may be low on oil. Check the oil level and refill if needed.
XXJack may require bleeding - see instructions on page 8.
XXUnit may have too much hydraulic oil inside. Check oil level and adjust if needed.
