Tools Needed for Installation

Changing the Color of Your Dimmer

If a color change kit is provided and desired, follow specific instructions for color replacement. Otherwise, proceed to installation.

Installing Your Dimmer

Note: Use check boxes [ ] when steps are completed.

Step 1: Turn Off Power

WARNING: To avoid fire, shock, or death, turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring.

Step 2: Identify Wiring Application

Note: If wall box wiring does not match configurations, consult a qualified electrician.

Single-Pole Wiring Application:

Identifies wires: 1. Line (Hot), 2. Neutral, 3. Ground, 4. Load.

3-Way Wiring Application:

Identifies wires: 1. Line or Load (tag common wire), 2. Neutral, 3. Ground, 4. First Traveler (note color), 5. Second Traveler (note color). For matching remote with LEDs, the First Traveler becomes Line Hot.

Important for 3-Way: Tag the common wire (usually black or labeled 'Common') from the old switch with electrical tape.

Step 3: Preparing and Connecting Wires

This dimmer uses side wire terminal screws or backwire openings. Ensure appropriate wire stripping:

Wire Stripping: Measure bare wire to 5/8" (1.6 cm) or use the gage on the back of the dimmer. Cut wires straight if necessary.

Side Wire Connection: Accepts #14 AWG solid copper wire only.

Back Wire: Accepts #14-12 AWG solid copper wire only.

General Preparation: Make wire ends straight. Remove insulation as shown. Proceed to Step 4 based on application.

Step 4a: Single-Pole Wiring Application

Wiring Dimmer:

Connect wires per diagram:

Proceed to Step 5.

Step 4b: 3-Way Wiring with Coordinating Remote (no LEDs)

Wiring Dimmer:

Note: Dimmer can be on Line or Load side. Max wire length to remotes: 300 ft.

Wiring Coordinating Remote:

Proceed to Step 5.

Step 4c: 3-Way Wiring with Matching Remote (with LEDs)

Note: Dimmer requires a Load connection. Remote requires Line Hot and Neutral. An additional Neutral wire may be needed for the remote.

Wiring Matching Remote (wall box with Line Hot):

Wiring Dimmer (wall box with Load connection):

Proceed to Step 5.

Step 5: Testing Your Dimmer

Note: Have a flashlight ready if this is the only light source.

Preparation: Position wires for space in the wall box. Ensure [TOP] is facing up on the device strap. Partially screw in mounting screws.

Testing:

Operation

Note: The locator light illuminates when the load is OFF, aiding visibility in the dark.

Note for 3-Way: Lights turn ON to the brightness set on the dimmer's DIM/BRIGHT bar. Control is possible from either the dimmer or remote location.

Push Pad

DIM/BRIGHT Bar

Note: When lights are OFF, the DIM/BRIGHT bar can be used to set the ON brightness level.

If power is interrupted, lights will return to the last setting upon restoration.

Step 6: Dimmer Mounting

Turn off power at circuit breaker or fuse.

Mounting: Tighten mounting screws into the wall box. Attach the wallplate.

Step 7: Restore Power

Restore power at the circuit breaker or fuse. Installation is complete.

Advanced Programming Features

Air-Gap Switch: Gently pull the bottom of the push pad until it lifts and clicks, turning OFF all LEDs. This cuts power to the fixture for bulb replacement. Push pad back in for normal operation.

To Program:

Note: Have a flashlight handy.

LED Brightness Display: 7 segments, LED 1 (top) to LED 7 (bottom), represent preset levels.
