General Information
The Sentrol Model 4003 Three Button Wireless Key Fob Transmitter is designed for use with Sentrol's 4000 Wireless System, requiring a receiver with Revision J or later software. It functions as a portable, unsupervised transmitter intended for use within the Installer Verified operating range of the system.
This transmitter utilizes an encrypted "anti-cloning" code to prevent unauthorized remote capture and use of transmissions. The Model 4003 is programmed into an RF Gateway Receiver as an RF User Device, not an RF Point, meaning it does not consume a zone on the panel. It operates similarly to a user passcode from a keypad and can be restricted by "Authority Level" and "Areas of Operation" as defined in the Control Programming Instructions.
The 4003 Key Fob Transmitter features three buttons labeled "A", "C", and "OFF". The "OFF" button consistently performs the disarm function. The "A" and "C" buttons are programmable for functions such as Arming, Panic, Aux/Medical, and other ancillary operations. These functions are assigned by selecting a "Key Function Option" during the device's programming into an RF Gateway Receiver.
Items You Will Need
- Series 4000 Receiver with software code Revision J or later.
- Control Panel Programming Instructions.
Installation
Read these instructions completely before installing. They cover installation requirements and situations to avoid for optimal performance.
Battery Installation
The Model 4003 is supplied with a 3-volt CR2032 Lithium battery.
To install the battery:
- Remove the battery door on the back of the unit by rotating it counter-clockwise [↩️].
- Place the battery into the compartment with the (+) positive marking facing up.
- Replace the battery door and rotate it clockwise [↪️] to close and secure it.
After installing the battery, press the "OFF" button twice, with a pause between each press. The LED above the button should blink with each press, indicating the 4003 Key Fob Transmitter is ready for system programming.
Programming
The 4003 Key Fob Transmitter comes pre-programmed with a 6-digit ID Address. This ID Address is found on the back label of the unit and on its box (e.g., code label 5 123456 dddd r). The underlined 6-digit ID Address is essential for programming the device into the RF Gateway Receiver and the Control panel.
To program the 4003 Key Fob Transmitter into an RF Gateway Receiver, you will need to select a "Device Number" on the RF Gateway, then program in a keypad number, a "Key Function Option Number", and the device's 6-digit ID Address. For programming into the Control panel, use the last four digits of the ID Address as a user passcode.
Consult the Control's Programming Instructions for specific programming details.
Testing
As the 4003 Key Fob Transmitter is a portable device, "blind" or "non-operational" locations may be encountered during testing. These can typically be resolved by moving the Model 4003 a short distance. The device is an omni-directional RF transmitter, meaning it should transmit equally in all directions regardless of how it is held. Testing should be performed for all buttons from multiple locations to ensure proper operation and system response.
For example, if the key fob is intended for arming/disarming from bedside, test it from that location. If it's for car-based arming/disarming (e.g., garage door), test it from within the car in the driveway and garage. For PANIC function use, test it from areas like the basement, garden, or garage.
After testing, clearly communicate any identified range or transmission limits to the user. Review the functions of each button with the user.
Instruct the user that if the LED does not blink when a button is pressed, it signifies a low battery condition, and the battery should be replaced promptly. A low battery message will also appear on the Control keypad until the battery is replaced.
Show the user the ID Address label on the back of the unit. Explain that this label contains their user passcode (the last four digits of the ID Address), which can also be used manually at the keypad if necessary. Advise the user to consider removing and storing this label in a secure location.
