Bertilo Garden House: Important Information, Warranty, and Maintenance Guide
Brand: KONIFERA
Product Type: Garden House
Bertilo Warranty
Bertilo provides a 5-year warranty on the construction and build quality of its garden houses. This warranty covers defective parts, which will be replaced free of charge during the warranty period. Costs associated with installation or removal of defective parts are not covered. Prerequisites for warranty claims include the original purchase receipt, packing list, and assembly instructions.
1. Transport Damages
In case of recognizable transport damage, the damage must be noted on the delivery note in the presence of the driver, with the date and time. The driver must sign the damage report, and the vehicle's registration number should also be noted. Please check all parts against the parts list for completeness and condition immediately after delivery. Damaged or defective elements must be reported before installation; otherwise, the warranty will be void.
To avoid assembly errors or damages, please read the provided assembly instructions carefully before starting.
2. Warranty Exclusions
KONIFERA cannot accept liability for the following defects:
- Incorrect storage prior to assembly (e.g., exposure to weather).
- Defective elements that have been installed or treated, even if the defect could have been detected prior to installation.
- Incorrect or insufficient foundation.
- Damage due to incorrect fixings, installations, or modifications.
- Incorrect, unprofessional, or insufficient roof covering (standard roofing felt is included for initial coverage).
- Deviations from the work steps or assembly instructions.
- Construction changes to the garden house.
- Incorrect loading (e.g., snow load limit not considered).
- Damage caused by high wind speeds, storms, or natural disasters.
- Normal humidity circumstances such as condensation on windows or in corners (staining or mould formation). This can be avoided by additional heating or ventilation systems.
- Insufficient distance from plants or other objects causing permanent moisture near the garden house.
- Wood damage or discoloration due to insufficient ventilation.
- Natural wood properties such as knots and resin pockets.
- Wood shrinkage or swelling by a few millimeters in thickness, width, and lengthwise, especially in the first season. This is a characteristic property of wood and not a defect.
- Optical damage caused by natural cracking and shrinkage (e.g., shrinkage cracks in knots).
- Damage caused by force majeure or other violent acts.
- Filler strips used for cover strips are not visible after assembly, and their wood quality is not covered.
- The wood quality of support blocks for MFP floor panels is not covered as they are not visible after assembly.
- Nail spots are not visible or barely visible after assembly and are not a defect.
- Commercial use.
3. 5-Year Warranty Terms for Factory Painted Garden Houses
This 5-year warranty applies to large-scale peeling and mould damages to finished elements, provided the following conditions are met:
- The cladding surface must be inspected every six months for damages. If required, damage must be repaired and repainted.
- Nails and/or screw heads, as well as scratches during installation, must be repainted immediately after installation using the supplied paint.
- Slight fading and discoloration of knots or resin pockets are natural processes and are not covered under the warranty.
Maintenance Instructions to Ensure a Long Service Life
Untreated wood must be treated with a recognized external wood preserver according to the manufacturer's instructions. Wooden elements in contact with or very close to the ground must be protected with a recognized external wood preserver.
Wood preservative should not be applied in bright sunlight or rainy conditions.
The garden house must also be treated from the inside, as wood warps significantly faster and stronger when treated only on one side.
When installing windows, silicone must be applied to the edges of the glass panes.
Good ventilation and prevention of excessive moisture, especially in wet weather, protect the wood from rot. It is recommended to install a moisture barrier under the floor elements (e.g., rubber pads).
Screws and connections should be checked regularly. An inspection of the garden house every six months is recommended.
To further protect the garden house from moisture, a gravel splash guard at least 30 cm wide around the house is recommended, or other suitable measures to ensure protection against splashes up to 30 cm above the ground.
We hope you enjoy your Bertilo garden house!

How to Make a Complaint
The basis for submitting a complaint is photos, a description of the defect, and the ID number of the required spare part (found in the assembly instructions).
How to Return Goods
If you wish to return goods, please contact your retailer. For liability reasons, the goods must always be placed at the property boundary closest to the road. Before collection, the product must be suitably packaged: placed on a pallet or skids, wrapped in film, and tightened with straps. The package can best be bundled using two or three ropes or straps (depending on the length of the goods). Original cross braces should also be placed underneath the goods at regular intervals.
Shipments that are not packed securely for transport will not be accepted.
Please follow these storage guidelines before collection:
- Store the material on a level and dry surface.
- Protect from direct sunlight and moisture.
Packaging Example:
The product is shown wrapped in a protective plastic film, secured with strapping bands, and placed on a pallet or skids. Cross braces are visible underneath the pallet.
Examples of Natural Wood Characteristics (Not Defects)
Examples of Resin Pockets:
Natural pockets within the wood containing resin. These are a normal characteristic of wood and not a defect.
Examples of Knots:
Natural imperfections in wood where branches grew. These are a normal characteristic of wood and not a defect.
Examples of Filler Strips / Support Blocks:
Wood strips used to cover gaps or edges during assembly. They are not visible after assembly and their wood quality is not a reason for complaint.
Examples of Nailing and Nail Heads:
Refers to the method of fastening parts with nails. Nail heads are often concealed or not visible after assembly and are therefore not considered a defect.
