Characteristics

Warnings

  1. This is a lifting device only; the load must be supported by other appropriate means. See illustration "A" [support diagram].
  2. Do not move or dolly the load while on the jack.
  3. Do not operate your jack with passengers in the vehicle or leaning against it.
  4. Do not exceed rated load.
  5. Do not use any type of extension without authorization by a qualified person.
  6. Always wear safety glasses when using the equipment.
  7. Use only on a hard, level surface capable of sustaining the load, see illustration "B" [level surface diagram].
  8. Make sure that the lift point is stable and properly centered on the jack saddle.
  9. It is your responsibility to keep warning decals legible and intact. Replacement decals may be obtained from the manufacturer.
  10. Study, understand, and follow all the instructions provided with this jack prior to operation.
  11. Failure to follow these warnings may result in loss of load, damage to jack, or failure resulting in property damage, personal injury, or fatal injury.
  12. The owner shall retain this manual for future reference to important warnings, operating and maintenance instructions.
  13. Do not try to adjust the pressure relief valve that was set by the manufacturer.

Instructions Before Use

  1. Check Oil Level: With the jack in an upright position and the ram completely retracted, open the release valve by turning the release assembly counterclockwise. Please see illustration "C" [oil level diagram]. Fill if necessary with good grade hydraulic jack oil (SAE 10). Do not use brake fluid or motor oil.
  2. Lubricate Internal Components: With the release valve open, pump the handle several strokes to assure proper internal lubrication.
  3. Bleed Hydraulic System: Hydraulic jacks may become "airbound" causing spongy ram action during transportation. To bleed the hydraulic system:
    • Close the release valve by turning the jack handle clockwise.
    • Insert handle in sleeve and pump jack up to full height.
To release air from the hydraulic system:
    • Open the release valve by turning the jack handle counterclockwise.
    • Remove the oil filler plug from the cylinder.
    • Rapidly pump jack handle through several full strokes.
    • Replace the oil filler plug into the cylinder. The jack is now ready to use.

Operation

Lifting

If raising a vehicle, be sure to set the parking brake and block the wheels first (please see illustration "D" [wheel blocking diagram]). Turn the release knob clockwise to close the release valve (please see illustration "E" [closing valve diagram]).

Position the jack under the desired vehicle lifting point, suggested by the manufacturer (use solid ground free from oil or slippery material). Ensure the load is centered and follow the listed steps to raise the saddle rapidly to the chassis level.

Insert the attached handle into the socket and pump the handle until the load is at the desired height. For ease of operation, lifting effort can be shared by additional persons.

Lowering

Open the release valve by slowly turning the release knob counterclockwise (never more than 1/2 full turn of the handle) (please see illustration "F" [opening valve diagram]). Only until the saddle reaches its lowest position, then move the jack out from under the vehicle.

Maintenance

  1. Keep the jack clean and apply lubricating oil to all pivoting sections every three months.
  2. Frequently check the oil level (please refer to "Instructions Before Use").
  3. Check the pump piston and piston rod periodically for signs of rust or corrosion. Clean exposed areas with a clean oiled cloth.
