AD-8526 Ethernet Converter Instruction Manual
Introduction
The AD-8526 Ethernet Converter facilitates the connection of a weighing instrument's RS-232C interface to a computer's Ethernet (LAN) port, particularly useful for systems lacking a direct RS-232C connection. This enables efficient management and control of weighing instrument data over a network.
Unpacking the AD-8526
Upon unpacking, you will find the AD8526 Ethernet converter unit. Ensure you have the correct AC adapter for your local voltage and receptacle type. The package may also include an RS-232C cable (typically 2 meters long). Specific cables like DIN 7-pin to D-Sub 9-pin (AX-KO1786-200) might be included if specified during ordering. If not specified, standard cables such as D-Sub 25-pin to D-Sub 9-pin (AX-KO1710-200) or D-Sub 9-pin to D-Sub 9-pin (AX-KO2466-200) are provided.
Included Items:
- AD8526 Ethernet Converter
- AC Adapter
- RS-232C Cable (2 pcs, approx. 2m each)
- Labels: MAC address, AC adapter labels, IP address labels (5 pcs), IP address protective cover (5 pcs).
Instructions for Labels:
- Affix AC adapter labels to the AC adapter and its cable connector.
- Write a preset IP address on the IP address labels and affix them to the weighing instrument and the AD-8526 unit for easy reference. Use the protective covers for the IP address labels.
Diagram Description: The unpacking section visually shows the AD8526 converter, AC adapter, and cables. It also illustrates where to place the MAC address label on the unit, AC adapter labels on the adapter and cable, and IP address labels on the unit, along with protective covers.

Connecting the Weighing Instrument to a Computer
⚠️ Caution:
- Consult your network manager before connecting the AD-8526 to a network, as it may cause network errors. A&D is not responsible for any such errors.
- Affix the AC adapter labels to the AC adapter and its cable connector.
- Set the IP address and subnet mask for the AD-8526. Ensure the IP address is unique; the factory default is 172.16.100.2. The IP address cannot be reset to the factory default. It is recommended to write the assigned IP address on the provided label.
Preparation
Download the necessary software from the A&D website: https://www.aandd.jp/products/software/software.html
- (1) "WinCT-Plus" instruction manual (for setting procedures)
- (2) "Device Installer" software (for IP address setting)
- (3) "WinCT-Plus" data acquisition software
Connection Steps:
- Connect the AC adapter to the AD-8526.
- Connect the AD-8526 and the computer using either a cross cable directly or a hub with straight cables.
- Input the IP addresses and subnet masks for both the AD-8526 and the computer. Refer to the "WinCT-Plus" instruction manual for detailed setting procedures.
- Communication errors may occur if settings are incorrect.
- Write the IP address on the IP address label and affix it to the AD-8526 (and the weighing instrument if needed) in a visible location.
- Install the RsMulti data acquisition software and download the "WinCT-Plus" instruction manual PDF from the A&D website.
- Connect the appropriate RS-232C cable between the weighing instrument's RS-232C interface and the AD-8526's port.
Diagram Description: The connection process is illustrated showing the AD-8526 connected to an AC adapter, and then to a computer via a cross cable or a hub with straight cables. A separate diagram shows the weighing instrument connected to the AD-8526 via an RS-232C cable.
Data Communication Software
The RsMulti data acquisition software can be launched on a Windows PC via Menu: [Start] → [Program] → [A&D WinCT-Plus] → [RsMulti]. For detailed operation, consult the A&D WinCT-Plus manual PDF.
This software supports data acquisition from multiple devices connected via LAN or RS-232C. It can also control these devices using commands and receive transmitted data. For example, pressing the PRINT key on a balance outputs data that can be acquired by the computer. Stored data is compatible with Microsoft Excel.
Example: Two Balances Connected
The following table shows an example configuration with two balances connected:
IP Address / Subnet Mask:
- Computer: 172.16.100.1
- GX-600: 172.16.100.2 / 255.255.0.0
- GP-30K: 172.16.100.3
Diagram Description: A network diagram illustrates a computer connected to a hub, which in turn connects to the AD-8526. The AD-8526 is shown connected to two weighing instruments, a GX-600 and a GP-30K. A sample window of the RsMulti software is displayed, showing the connected devices, their IP addresses, and data streams, including timestamps and readings.
