Quick Reference to Display Screen
The display provides information about the thermostat's status.
Display Elements:
- Setpoint Indicator: Appears when the setpoint temperature is displayed.
- Temperature: Normally displays the ambient (measured) temperature. Pressing the Up ▲ or Down ▼ button once shows the setpoint temperature for five seconds.
- Low Battery Warning: Indicates when batteries need replacement (see page 9).
- System Status: Shows if the cooling system ("Cool on") or heating system ("Heat on") is active.
- Compressor Protection: If "Cool On" is flashing, the compressor protection feature is engaged (see page 8).
Operation: Selecting the System Setting
The SYSTEM switch controls your heating or cooling system based on the season.
System Switch Options:
- Cool: For cooling system control.
- Off: Turns all systems off.
- Heat: For heating system control.
⚠ CAUTION: EQUIPMENT DAMAGE HAZARD. To prevent possible compressor damage, do not operate the cooling system when the outdoor temperature is below 50°F (10°C).
Operation: Selecting the Fan Setting
Set the FAN switch to either "Auto" or "On".
- Auto: The fan runs only when the heating or cooling system is active. This is the most common setting.
- On: The fan runs continuously.
Operation: Adjusting the Temperature
Press the Up ▲ or Down ▼ buttons to adjust the desired temperature.
Note: Ensure the thermostat is set to the correct system (heat or cool) for your needs.
Built-in Compressor Protection
This feature helps prevent damage to your air conditioning or heat pump system's compressor. Damage can occur if the compressor restarts too soon after shutdown. This feature forces a 5-minute delay before the compressor can restart.
During the delay, the display will flash "Cool On". Once the safe wait time has passed, the message stops flashing, and the compressor turns on.
Appendices: Battery Replacement
Replace batteries when the "Lo Batt" warning appears on the screen. "Lo Batt" is displayed for 60 days before batteries are depleted.
It is recommended to replace batteries once a year, or before extended periods away (more than a month).
Thermostat settings are stored in non-volatile (permanent) memory and are preserved when batteries are removed.
Important: Set the System switch to Off before removing batteries to prevent the heating/cooling system from remaining activated.
To replace batteries:
- Pull the thermostat from the wallplate from the bottom.
- Turn the thermostat over and insert two fresh AAA alkaline batteries.
- Reinstall the thermostat onto the wallplate.
