PRECAUTION: NOTICE FOR FLAMMABLE REFRIGERANT

Maintenance should only be performed as recommended by the manufacturer. Service and repair requiring qualified personnel must be supervised by persons competent in handling flammable refrigerants.

Safe Handling of Refrigerant Systems:

Transport, Marking, Disposal, and Storage of Refrigerant-Containing Equipment: Follow relevant transport, marking, disposal, and storage regulations.

Maintenance Information:

Elimination and Evacuation: Follow conventional procedures for refrigerant circuit entry. For flammable refrigerants, follow best practices. Recover refrigerant safely, evacuate, purge with inert gas (optional for A2L), flush, and open the circuit. Recover refrigerant into approved cylinders. Purge systems with oxygen-free nitrogen to remove flammable refrigerants. Repeat as necessary. Do not use compressed air or oxygen. For flammable refrigerants, break vacuum with oxygen-free nitrogen. Repeat until no refrigerant is present. Ensure the vacuum pump exhaust is not near ignition sources.

Charging Procedures: Ensure no contamination occurs when using charging equipment. Use short hoses. Position cylinders correctly. Ground the system before charging. Label the system. Do not overfill cylinders. Pressure test the system after charging but before operation. Perform leak tests before leaving the site.

Retirement from Service: Ensure technicians are familiar with the equipment. Recover refrigerants safely. Take oil and refrigerant samples if analysis is needed. Ensure electrical power is available. Familiarize yourself with the equipment, isolate the electrical system, ensure mechanical handling equipment and PPE are available, and follow recovery procedures. Do not overfill cylinders (max 80% liquid). Do not exceed cylinder working pressure. Ensure cylinders and equipment are removed promptly and valves are isolated. Do not charge recovered refrigerant into another system unless it has been cleaned and checked.

Labeling: Label equipment as retired from service and emptied of refrigerant, including date and signature. Ensure labels indicate flammable refrigerant content.

Recovery: Recover refrigerants safely for maintenance or disposal. Use approved recovery cylinders. Ensure enough cylinders are available. Cylinders must be complete with pressure relief valves. Cool cylinders before recovery if possible. Recovery equipment must be in good working order, with instructions, and suitable for flammable refrigerants. Consult the manufacturer if in doubt. Use calibrated scales and leak-free hoses. Process recovered refrigerant according to local legislation. Do not mix refrigerants in recovery units or cylinders. When removing compressors or oil, ensure they are emptied to an acceptable level to prevent flammable refrigerant in the lubricant. Do not heat the compressor housing with open flames or ignition sources to accelerate this process. Drain oil safely.
