2 BENY Microinverter System
A complete BENY PV microinverter system consists of PV microinverters, the BENY gateway EMU BYR990, and the BENY PV data management platform. The system is illustrated in Figure 1.1, showing microinverters connected to the EMU BYR990 gateway, which communicates with a router for internet access, enabling data transmission to the BENY cloud and management platform accessible via web or app.
2.1 Microinverter
The BYM microinverter converts the DC output of photovoltaic modules into AC power suitable for the power grid. Models like BYM500 / 550 / 600 and BYM700 / 2000 / 2400 / 2800 offer high power and efficiency, with a static MPPT efficiency up to 99.8%.
2.2 BENY PV Data Management Platform
This platform collects operational data from microinverters, providing module-level monitoring for users and maintenance personnel, thereby enhancing the user experience.
3 Gateway Interface Instructions
The BENY EMU BYR990 gateway features an RJ45 INTERFACE for network connectivity, a Power interface for power supply, and an indicator light. Figures 2.2 and 2.3 show the cross-section and disassembled view of the RJ45 interface, while Figures 2.4 and 2.5 illustrate the power interface similarly.
4 Preparation and Installation Instructions
4.1 Preparation
4.1.1 System Description
In a BENY PV microinverter system, a single EMU BYR990 can monitor up to eight microinverters. The number of microinverters monitored may decrease if installation conditions affect communication between the EMU BYR990 and the microinverters. Optimal installation conditions, as described in the respective manuals, are necessary to maximize the number of microinverter components used.
4.1.2 EMU BYR990 Installation Environment Instructions
- Install the EMU BYR990 away from dust, liquids, and acidic or corrosive gases.
- The ambient temperature range for installation is -40°C to +65°C.
4.2 Dimensional Specifications
Figure 3.1 illustrates the dimensions of the RJ45 interface, showing measurements of 204mm, 125mm, and 61mm. Figure 3.2 depicts the LCF Filter Connection Diagram, showing the LC Filter connecting between the AC source (Grid Distribution Box/Outlet) and the microinverter's AC input. Figure 3.3 is a physical image of the EMI FILTER (LCF Filter) with model SGAW6-30A2.
4.3 Installation Steps
- Install the LCF filter: Connect the LCF filter using a suitable AC cable, observing the installation direction. Ensure the AC cable's current carrying capacity is compatible with the total output current of all connected microinverters (e.g., >5A for 2 microinverters, >20A for 8). A 10AWG cable is recommended. Note: Connect the LOAD end to the distribution box or AC socket, and the LINE end to the microinverter's AC cable. For systems with more than 8 microinverters, additional AC busbars and accessories are required.
- Install monitoring device EMU BYR990: Connect the L and N wires of the EMU BYR990 to the LCF filter, ensuring correct polarity. The connection point should be on the side away from the distribution box or socket, and on the same side of the LCF as the microinverter's AC interface or bus. Connect the network cable (RJ45) of the EMU BYR990 to a router's LAN port that has internet access (Figure 3.4 Network Connection Diagram).
Notes for Network Connection: The EMU's network connection must access the Internet. The Ethernet router must support DHCP for the BYR990 to obtain an IP address. Users must register for a BYDAS account via the APP or WEB Browser and create their own power station, adding the EMU and microinverters with their correct serial numbers.
- Install the AC bus: Open the EMU BYR990 cover and connect wires according to the silk-screened order on the terminals.
- Mount the BENY microinverter: Secure the microinverter onto the bracket or solar panel frame.
- Connect the AC port: Connect the BENY microinverter's AC port to the AC bus junction tightly, ensuring it is connected to the same power source. Pay attention to the L (Line) and N (Neutral) wire sequence on the AC bus connector (Figure 3.5 Power interface marking). Figure 3.6 shows a completed connection.
- Install waterproof protection covers: Apply covers to the AC bus end and any unused female connectors if available.
- Connect solar panels: Connect the solar panels and link each microinverter to its respective photovoltaic panel.
- Complete system installation: Finalize the BENY microinverter system installation diagram.
- Start operation: Begin system operation. Figure 3.7 shows a normal operation photo.
- Check communication: Verify communication between the microinverter and EMU BYR990. The EMU BYR990 has a green indicator light with the following indications:
- Steady on: No microinverter data collected, no platform connection.
- Fast blinking (200ms): Data collected, but no cloud platform connection.
- Fast blinking (200ms): Cloud platform connected, but no microinverter data collected.
- Slow blinking (2 seconds): Data collected and cloud platform connected successfully.
- Log in to BENY's PV data management platform: Create an account and a solar plant.
- Add devices: Add the BYR990 ID and bind the solar inverters to the plant.
- View data: Access and review data on the BENY photovoltaic data management platform.
