Application

The BENY BFS-S Series Firefighter Safety Switch is a DC Isolation Solution designed for solar rooftop fire safety. It provides mechanical and complete DC power isolation in the event of a fault, creating a safe area and operating space to protect firefighters from DC electric shock. When a firefighter cuts off the AC power in the house, the safety switch simultaneously disconnects the DC power.

System Diagram

The system diagram illustrates the connection of solar PV strings to the BENY BFS-S safety switch. Four solar strings are shown, each connected via DC cables to the BFS-S unit. The BFS-S unit then connects to an Inverter and an AC Distribution Box using AC cables. The diagram clearly labels DC cables and AC cables.

How the Solution Works

The BFS-S series switch ensures safety through multiple shutdown modes:

Automatic Shutdown When Over Temperature

The DC power is automatically turned OFF if the temperature inside the BFS-S enclosure reaches or exceeds 85°C (?️ 85°C). Power is automatically restored once the temperature drops to 75°C or below.

Automatic Shutdown When AC Power Loss

The DC power is automatically turned OFF if the AC power is lost, either accidentally or when manually shut down by firefighters. This action creates a safe zone. DC power is automatically restored when AC power is back.

100% Shutdown By Emergency Button

Pressing the emergency button on the BFS-S unit ensures the DC power remains 100% OFF, even after AC power is restored. This provides a permanent safety zone for firefighters.

Dimensions

BFS-S Series Fire Safety Switch

The main unit dimensions are approximately 212.9mm (length) ±0.5mm x 270mm (width) x 104.2mm (depth) ±0.5mm. Mounting hole dimensions are also provided in the original diagram.

BFS-S Protection Cover for Fire Safety Switch

The protection cover dimensions are approximately 380mm ±0.5mm (length) x 210.5mm ±0.5mm (width) x 110mm (depth).
