FM Radio and Music Alarm Clock

Thank you for purchasing the August MB300 FM Radio and Music Alarm Clock. This manual is designed to help you familiarize yourself with the various functions of the device. Please take a few minutes to read it, even if you have used a similar device before.

Quick Start Guide

  1. First Use: Insert two AAA batteries into the battery compartment on the back of the device for time and calendar backup. These batteries are not for radio or speaker power.
  2. Charging: Charge the internal battery for 5 hours by connecting the AC adapter or USB cable to the DC +5V charging port and a power source.
  3. Setting the Clock: Press and hold SET until minutes flash. Use VL+ and VL- to adjust minutes. Press SET to cycle through Minutes, Hours, 12/24h format, Year, Month, and Date. Press and hold VL+ or VL- for faster adjustment. Press MODE to confirm.
  4. Setting the Alarm: While the clock is visible, press MODE. Press and hold SET until alarm minutes flash. Use VL+ and VL- to adjust alarm minutes. Press SET to cycle through Minutes, Hours, and alarm type. Press MODE to confirm. Press ALARM to activate/deactivate the alarm (a bell icon will appear when active).
  5. Radio and Music Playback: Switch the device ON using the rear switch. For MP3 playback from USB/SD card, insert the media and press ►ㅔ. Use VL+ and VL- for volume and <0xF0><0x9F><0x97><0x91> or <0xF0><0x9F><0x97><0x90> to change tracks. For FM radio, press RADIO, extend the antenna, and press <0xF0><0x9F><0x97><0x91> to scan for stations. Use VL+ and VL- for volume.
  6. External Speaker Use: Connect a 3.5mm audio cable from your device to the MB300's Line IN port. Volume and track changes must be controlled from the source device.

The MB300 features a card reader and USB port for playing music from a memory card or USB drive. It also has a 3.5mm auxiliary input for playing music from external devices like iPods, MP3 players, or mobile phones.

Device Controls

  1. MODE: Navigate between modes.
  2. SET: Select and confirm values/settings.
  3. ALARM: Activate/deactivate the alarm and set the sleep timer.
  4. RADIO: Enter FM radio mode.
  5. Remote Sensor: Receives signals from the remote control.
  6. <0xF0><0x9F><0x97><0x91>: Play/Pause.
  7. VL+: Increase volume or other value.
  8. VL-: Decrease volume or other value.
  9. LT: Activate screen backlight.
  10. Speakers: 2 x 3W speakers.

Remote Control Functions

  1. <0xF0><0x9F><0x97><0x91>: Play/Pause.
  2. SET: Select values/settings to adjust.
  3. MODE: Navigate between modes.
  4. RADIO: Enter FM radio mode.
  5. ALARM: Activate/deactivate the alarm and set the sleep timer.
  6. SNOOZE: Snooze the alarm for a few minutes.
  7. VL+: Increase volume (or other value).
  8. VL-: Decrease volume (or other value).
  9. <0xF0><0x9F><0x97><0x90>: Next track.
  10. <0xF0><0x9F><0x97><0x91>: Previous track.

6. Clock and Alarm

Setting the Time and Date

  1. In Clock mode, press and hold SET until the minutes flash. Press SET again to cycle through values (minutes, hours, 12/24h format, year, month, date). Use VL+ and VL- to adjust. Hold VL+ or VL- for faster adjustment. Press MODE to return to Clock mode.
  2. Press and hold VL+ or VL- for rapid time and date adjustment.
  3. Press MODE to return to Clock mode.

Alarm Setting

  1. In Clock mode, press MODE to access alarm settings. The display will show "BIBI", "MP3", "FM", or "OFF". Press and hold SET until alarm minutes flash. Press SET to cycle through values. Press ALARM to deactivate the alarm.
  2. Use VL+/VL- to set the alarm time and select the alarm sound (BIBI, MP3, FM). Press SET to confirm.
  3. BIBI setting results in a buzzer sound.
  4. MP3 setting uses a pre-selected song as the alarm sound (see Section 8).
  5. FM setting uses a pre-selected radio station as the alarm sound (see Section 7).
  6. If BIBI or MP3 is selected, the alarm will stop automatically after 3 minutes. Press SNOOZE or LT to repeat the alarm in 5 minutes. Press any other button to stop the alarm.
  7. If FM radio is selected as the alarm, the SNOOZE function will work, and the radio will enter standby mode when it is available.

Sleep Timer

  1. The sleep timer can be used to turn off the Radio and MP3 player. The default is 30 minutes, programmable from 10 minutes to 3 hours in 10-minute intervals.
  2. Press ALARM in Radio or MP3 mode and use VL+/VL- to set the timer. Press ALARM again to confirm.

Temperature Display

  1. In Clock mode, press VL- to display the temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit.

7. FM Radio

  1. Press RADIO to enter FM radio mode. Use <0xF0><0x9F><0x97><0x91> and <0xF0><0x9F><0x97><0x90> to scan for stations; press and hold for quick scan.
  2. Use VL+ and VL- to adjust the volume.
  3. Press and hold SET to save the current station to the MB300's memory. Use VL+ and VL- to select a memory number. Press SET to confirm. Up to 20 stations can be saved.
  4. To access a saved station, press SET and navigate with VL+ and VL- to the desired station.
  5. Press ALARM to set the current station as your alarm sound. "AL SET" will appear and flash for 2 seconds.
  6. Press ALARM to set the sleep timer for the radio. Use VL+ and VL- to set the time. Press ALARM to confirm. The radio will turn off automatically when the time expires.
  7. Press MODE to return to Clock mode.

8. Music Player

This device allows you to listen to MP3 music from a USB drive or SD card. It can also be used as quality speakers for iPods and MP3 players.

  1. Connect a USB drive or SD card with pre-loaded music. Press || to enter music player mode. The MB300 will start playing music from the SD/MMC card and/or USB drive.
  2. "No Card" will appear if no memory card or USB drive is connected.
  3. "No Song" will appear if no MP3 files are present on the connected media.
  4. Press and hold || to switch between memory card and USB drive.
  5. Use <0xF0><0x9F><0x97><0x91> or <0xF0><0x9F><0x97><0x90> to play the previous or next track.
  6. Use VL+ and VL- to adjust the playback volume.
  7. Press SET and use VL+ and VL- to adjust the equalizer (Rock, Normal, Live, Bass, Classic). Press SET to confirm.
  8. Press SET twice and use VL+ and VL- to select the playback mode (All, Repeat All, Repeat One, Shuffle). Press SET to confirm.
  9. Press and hold ALARM to set the current song as your alarm sound. "AL SET" will appear and flash for 2 seconds.
  10. Press ALARM to set the sleep timer. Use VL+ and VL- to set the time. Press ALARM to confirm. The MB300 will automatically turn off when the time expires.
  11. Press MODE to return to Clock mode.

Note: If both a USB drive and an SD card are inserted, the USB drive will have priority.

Note: To use the MB300 as a speaker for a laptop, phone, or other device, connect it to the MB300's Auxiliary input using the provided cable. The auxiliary input has priority over other inputs.

9. Power Supply

This device can be powered by the supplied AC adapter, its USB cable, and its internal rechargeable lithium battery. The internal lithium battery charges automatically when the MB300 is connected to an external power source. The charging indicator LED lights up red during charging and turns off when charging is complete. The clock's power is supported by 2 AAA batteries, which keep the clock and calendar running even if the device is off or the battery is depleted.

11. Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
No Power AC adapter not connected / Internal lithium battery defective or discharged Check AC adapter.
Poor Radio Reception Signal interfered / obstructed or internal battery discharged Change location or connect AC adapter.
Music Player Music file format not compatible or internal battery discharged Convert music file(s) to .mp3 format or connect AC adapter.
Memory Card / USB Drive with music connected but no sound Music file format not compatible or memory card / USB drive defective Convert music file(s) to .mp3 format or use a different memory card / USB drive.
Cannot recharge battery or short operating time Internal battery worn out. Requires a new battery. Have the battery replaced by a professional service provider.
Remote control problems Weak or dead remote control battery Replace the remote control battery.
