Thank you for purchasing the August MB225 FM Radio and Music Player. This manual is designed to help you familiarize yourself with the different functions of the device. Please take a few minutes to read it, even if you have used a similar device before.

Do not disassemble the MB225 yourself, as this could present a danger to you and invalidate the manufacturer's warranty.

5. Getting Started

5.1 Charging

Fully charge the MB225 before first use or after a long period of non-use. Use the USB cable to connect to a powered USB port. The battery icon on the screen indicates a full charge. Ensure you use a 5V charger; a higher voltage will damage the device.

5.2 Power On / Off / Pause

Press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds to turn on the MB225. Press Power again to switch between Play and Pause modes. Press and hold Power for 3 seconds to turn off the device.

5.3 DAB/DAB+ Radio

The DAB mode allows you to listen to digital radio, offering better audio quality and less interference than FM radio. Press the Mode button to select DAB mode. The screen will display DAB, and the device will start playing DAB radio stations.

Press Prev or Next to change stations and Select to confirm.

Note: If no DAB/DAB+ stations can be received, refer to section 5.3.1 or 5.3.2. DAB/DAB+ reception is not universal. You can check reception information at www.dabplus.fr/. Ensure you are within range of the transmitter.

5.3.1 Quick Station Scan

  1. Extend the telescopic antenna.
  2. Press Scan to initiate a DAB station scan. "Searching..." will be displayed.
  3. Once the scan is complete, stations are automatically saved, and the radio plays the first station found.

5.3.2 Full Scan

  1. Extend the telescopic antenna.
  2. Press Menu, then Prev or Next to select "Total Scan".
  3. Press Select to start the full scan. The screen will display "Searching...". A progress bar indicates the scan progress, and the number of stations found is shown at the top right.
  4. Once complete, stations are saved, and the radio plays the first station found.

5.3.3 Prune

The Prune function can be used to remove unavailable stations from your DAB/DAB+ list. This function removes all stations displayed as "Not available".

  1. Press Menu, then Prev or Next to select "Prune".
  2. Press Select, then Prev or Next to select "Yes", and press Select to confirm.

5.3.4 DAB Station Presets

You can save up to 20 DAB/DAB+ stations for quick access. Note: Saving DAB stations does not overwrite FM stations.

5.3.4.1 Save a Station
  1. Once the desired station is found and playing, press and hold Preset until the preset slots are displayed.
  2. Press Prev and Next to choose the save location and press Select to confirm.
5.3.4.2 Recall a Station
  1. In DAB mode, press Preset to open the list of saved stations.
  2. Press Prev or Next to select a saved station.
  3. Press Select to confirm.

5.3.5 Station Information

To access additional information about DAB/DAB+ stations, press INFO.

5.3.6 Dynamic Range Compression (DRC)

DRC reduces the difference between the loudest and quietest sounds, allowing quiet sounds to be amplified while loud sounds are reduced. Note: DRC is controlled by the transmitting station and may not be available for every station.

5.3.6.1 Modify DRC Settings
  1. Press Menu, then Prev or Next to select "DRC".
  2. Press Select to confirm.
  3. Press Prev or Next to choose from the options: DRC High, DRC Low, DRC Off.
  4. Press Select to confirm.
  5. Press Menu to return to the current playback screen.

5.4 FM Radio

The FM radio mode allows you to listen to FM radio (87.5-108MHz).

5.4.1 Search

  1. Fully extend the telescopic antenna.
  2. Press the Mode button to select FM mode.
  3. Press Scan or press and hold Prev or Next to search for FM stations. The first station found is played.
  4. For better reception, it is recommended to reposition the device and fully extend the antenna.

5.4.1.1 Search Settings

Search settings allow you to decide which stations are detected during a station search. Press Menu, then Prev or Next to select "Search Settings". Press Select to confirm.

"All Stations" means all stations will be searched. "Strong Stations" means only stations with a strong reception signal will be searched.

Press Prev or Next to select "All Stations" or "Strong Stations". Press Select to confirm.

5.4.2 FM Station Presets

The MB225 can save up to 20 FM stations for quick access. Note: Saving FM stations does not overwrite DAB stations.

5.4.2.1 Save a Station

When a station is playing on the MB225, it can be saved by pressing the Preset button until the preset manager is displayed. Press Prev or Next to choose the save location and press Select to confirm.

5.4.2.2 Recall a Station
  1. Press Preset in FM mode to display the list of saved stations.
  2. Press Prev or Next to select the desired station.
  3. Press Select to confirm.

5.4.3 Audio Settings

  1. Press Menu, then use Prev and Next to select "Audio Settings". Press Select to confirm.
  2. Press Prev or Next to select "Mono Station" or "Stereo". Press Select to confirm.

Stereo: Stations broadcast in stereo with a sufficient signal will be played in stereo.

Mono Station: All stations will be played in mono.

5.4.4 Station Information

To access additional information about FM stations, press INFO.

5.5 Alarm Settings

  1. Press Menu, then Prev or Next to select "System". Press Select to confirm.
  2. Press Prev or Next to select "Sleep Mode", "Alarms", or "Time". Press Select to confirm.

5.5.1 Time and Date

  1. In the Time menu, select "Set Time/Date" and press Select to confirm.
  2. The hour digits will flash. Adjust the hour using the Prev and Next buttons. Press Select to confirm the displayed digit.
  3. The minute digits will flash. Adjust the minutes using the Prev and Next buttons. Press Select to confirm the displayed number.
  4. The date digits will flash. Select the day, then the month, then the year, and adjust the data using the Prev and Next buttons. Note: This depends on the date format set in the options (section 5.5.3).
  5. Press Select to confirm and save the time and date.

5.5.2 Automatic Update

In the Time menu, press Prev or Next to select "Auto Update". Then select "Auto Update", "Update via DAB", "Update via FM", or "No Update" and press Select to confirm.

5.5.3 Date Format

In "Time", press Prev or Next to select "DD-MM-YYYY" or "MM-DD-YYYY".

5.5.4 Time Format

Press Prev or Next to select "Set 12/24h" and press Select to confirm.

5.6 Alarm

The MB225 features a dual alarm system. Two different alarms can be set. An alarm icon appears on the screen when an alarm is active.

5.6.1 Configure Alarm

  1. Press Menu, then use Prev and Next to select "System". Press Select to confirm.
  2. Press Prev or Next to select "Alarms". Press Select to confirm.
  3. Press Prev or Next to select "Alarm 1" or "Alarm 2". Press Select to confirm.
  4. The alarm wizard displays the setting information. Select a value for hours and minutes using the Prev and Next buttons. Press Select to confirm each piece of data.
    • H:M: Hour and Minute
    • Duration: 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 seconds. The alarm will stop automatically after this duration.
    • Source: Buzzer, FM, DAB.
    • Frequency: Once, Daily, Weekdays, Weekends. Adjust the alarm frequency.
    • Volume: Adjust the alarm volume.
    • Alarm On/Off: Activate or deactivate the alarm.
  5. Select the different parameters. Then activate or deactivate the alarm using the last option.

5.6.2 Stop/Snooze

When the alarm sounds, press the Select button to stop the alarm. Press the SNOOZE button to repeat the alarm 9 minutes later.

5.7 Sleep Timer

  1. Press Menu, then Prev and Next to select "System". Press Select to confirm.
  2. Press Prev or Next to select "Sleep Mode". Press Select to confirm.
  3. Select the time after which the device will reactivate: Disabled, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90 minutes.
  4. Press Select to confirm. When sleep mode is active, an "S" is displayed on the screen.

5.8 Backlight Settings

  1. Press Menu, then select "System" using the Prev and Next buttons. Press Select to confirm.
  2. Select "Backlight" using the Prev and Next buttons. Press Select to confirm.
  3. Press Prev or Next to choose "Timer", "Level On", "Level Dim".

5.8.1 Timer

Press Prev or Next to select the duration in seconds: 10, 20, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180 seconds. Press Select to confirm.

5.8.2 Level On

Press Prev or Next to choose the level: High, Medium, Low. Press Select to confirm.

5.8.3 Level Dim

Press Prev or Next to choose the dimming level: Low, Medium, High. Press Select to confirm.

5.9 Language

  1. Press Menu, then Prev and Next to select "System". Press Select to confirm.
  2. Press Prev or Next to select "Language". Press Select to confirm.
  3. Press Prev or Next to choose the language from French, English, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese.

5.10 Factory Reset

A factory reset erases all data and replaces it with the original settings. The time, date, and saved FM or DAB stations will be lost.

  1. Press Menu, then Prev or Next to select "System". Press Select to confirm.
  2. Press Prev or Next to select "Factory Reset". Press Select to confirm.
  3. Press Next to select "Yes" or "No", then press Select to confirm.

8. Warranty

This product is guaranteed for twelve months from the date of the initial purchase. In the unlikely event of a fault due to defective materials or workmanship, the unit will be replaced or repaired free of charge (if possible) during this period. An equivalent product will be offered if the product is no longer available or repairable.
