eVance® Services Scanner Options
Overview
Organizations utilizing the eVance® Services Inspection Manager mobile application have a range of barcode scanning options designed for maximum flexibility. These options cater to various device choices, technology support for both iOS and Android applications, and different price points.
The Inspection Manager employs a barcode system to filter devices entered into the Building, Fire Panels, Devices, and Equipment lists, facilitating commissioning, testing, and inspection processes. Devices and equipment not directly addressable to a fire panel can be barcoded and associated within the eVance list. When a barcode is scanned during testing, the corresponding device record is automatically retrieved from potentially thousands of entries. This display allows technicians to quickly and efficiently test devices without the need for manual searching or filtering.
Scanning Options Available
SCANNER-BT
The SCANNER-BT, offered by Honeywell, is compatible with Android mobile devices. It features a 1D imager and provides omnidirectional reading capability. Designed for rugged environments, it is dust-tight and capable of withstanding direct water spray.
Mobile Device Onboard Camera
eVance Services supports the use of the onboard camera on both Android and iOS mobile devices, which are supplied by the user.
Captuvo Scanner Sleds
Scanner sleds that attach to iOS mobile devices are available from Honeywell. These sleds are built to withstand rugged field work and extend the operational life of the smartphone. The Captuvo enhances the smartphone's battery life for extended capacity and allows for battery replacement. Scanner sleds are available for the iPhone 5, 5S, 6, and 6+, and iPod Touch. No programming or setup is required.
Socket® Mobile Scanners
Two scanners from the Socket Mobile SocketScan 800 Series are supported by eVance Services: the S800 1D imager and the S850 2D/1D scanner, which includes support for QR codes. Both devices are certified by Apple® for iOS devices and are compatible with Android. These scanners can be attached to iOS or Android mobile phones, or used detached alongside a tablet or other mobile device. They are not sold directly by Honeywell but are available through online retailers. For more detailed information, visit www.SocketMobile.com.
Barcode Labels
Honeywell offers Barcode Labels in Rolls of 1,000 (Barcode-1000) for associating devices with the building equipment list. Other barcode labels may also be used, including those already present on devices, which is common for items like extinguishers.
Features
- Testing and inspecting devices connected to Honeywell fire panels is simplified, as they automatically display in the test list upon activation. For non-addressable devices, barcoding and barcode scanning provide a solution.
- Barcoding enables technicians to quickly bring up and open the listing for the device to be tested, making inspections and testing fast and efficient.
- Comprehensive and traceable: Barcodes on non-addressable devices and equipment, along with their association in the building's device list, help ensure that no items are missed during testing. Each test generates an audit trail, aiding in problem identification and correction, and reducing liability during life safety events.
- Organizations can select barcode scanner devices that best suit their business needs and customer environment.
- Any barcode can be used, including pre-existing barcodes on devices or purchased barcodes from Honeywell.
- Devices and equipment from non-fire systems can be barcoded for inventory and inspection, enhancing Inspection Manager's versatility.
