Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble your Dyson V7 vacuum cleaner:
- Connect the main body (cyclone and bin) to the wand.
- Attach the desired cleaner head or tool to the end of the wand.
- Ensure all parts click securely into place.
Important Safety Instructions

- This machine is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or reasoning capabilities, or lack of experience, unless supervised.
- Do not allow children to use the machine as a toy.
- Use only as described in this manual.
- Suitable for dry locations ONLY. Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
- Do not handle the plug or machine with wet hands.
- Do not use with a damaged cord or plug.
- If the machine is not working correctly, has been dropped, damaged, or exposed to water, do not use and contact the Dyson Helpline.
- Do not disassemble the machine; incorrect reassembly may result in electric shock or fire.
- Keep cords away from heated surfaces and traffic areas.
- Do not unplug by pulling the cord; grasp the plug.
- Do not use to pick up water, flammable liquids, burning objects, or hot ashes.
- Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and body parts away from openings and moving parts.
- Do not put objects into openings or use with blocked openings.
- Use only Dyson recommended accessories and replacement parts.
- Do not use without the clear bin and filter(s) in place.
- Unplug when not in use for extended periods and before maintenance.
- Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
- Do not install, charge, or use outdoors, in bathrooms, or near pools.
- Use only Dyson chargers and batteries.
- FIRE WARNING: Do not place near cookers or hot surfaces, and do not incinerate.
- Always turn the machine 'OFF' before connecting or disconnecting the motorized brush bar.
- FIRE WARNING: Do not apply fragrance or scented products to filters.
- WARNING: This product may contain chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects, or reproductive harm in California. Wash hands after handling.
This Dyson machine is intended for household use ONLY.
Operation
Power Modes and Run Time
- Powerful Suction: Offers longer run time (e.g., 30 minutes).
- MAX Mode: Provides powerful suction for deeper cleaning, with a shorter run time (e.g., up to 6 minutes).
Emptying the Clear Bin
Empty the bin when dirt reaches the MAX line. To empty:
- Ensure the machine is disconnected from the charger.
- Remove the wand and floor tool for easier emptying.
- Hold the machine by the handle, pull the red lever back, and lift upwards to release the cyclone.
- The bin base will open automatically to release the dirt.
- Carefully remove the bin from the bag (if used).
- Close the bin base by pushing the cyclone downwards until it clicks into place.
Maintenance
Washing the Brush Bar
Regularly wash the brush bar to maintain performance:
- Ensure the machine is disconnected from the charger.
- Turn the cleaner head upside down. Use a coin to unlock the fastener.
- Rotate the end cap to the open position and slide the brush bar out.
- Remove the end cap from the brush bar.
- Hold the brush bar under running water and gently rub to remove lint or dirt.
- Stand the brush bar upright and allow it to dry completely for at least 24 hours.
- Reattach the end cap, slide the brush bar back into the cleaner head, and secure it by closing the end cap and fastener.
Washing Your Filter
Wash the filter regularly for optimal performance:
- Ensure the machine is disconnected from the charger.
- Lift the filter out of the top of the machine.
- Wash the filter with cold water ONLY. Run water over the outside until it runs clear.
- Squeeze and twist with both hands to remove excess water.
- Lay the filter on its side to dry completely for a minimum of 24 hours.
- Do not use dishwashers, washing machines, or place near open flames.
- Once completely dry, place the filter back into the machine.
Clearing Blockages
The machine has an automatic cut-out that activates if a blockage occurs. Allow the machine to cool down and disconnect from the charger before checking for blockages.
To locate blockages:
- Check the main body, wand, and cleaner heads.
- Remove the clear bin and cyclone to access the main body.
- For stubborn blockages, you may need to remove the brush bar using a coin to unlock the fastener.
- Ensure all parts are securely refitted before use.
- Clearing blockages is not covered by the warranty.
Charging and Storage
Recharging on the Dock
Place the machine on the docking station to recharge. The charging process typically takes 3.5 hours.
Lights During Charging
- Solid Blue: Charging.
- Flashing Blue: Not charging. Check charger connection or try another socket.
- Lights Off: Charging complete.
- Solid Amber: Temporary fault (e.g., temperature issue).
- Flashing Red: Fault. Contact Dyson Helpline.
Lights During Use
- Solid Blue: Machine is ON.
- Flashing Blue: Low battery.
- Flashing Amber: Temporary fault (e.g., temperature issue).
- Solid Amber: Fault. Contact Dyson Helpline.
- Flashing Red: Fault. Contact Dyson Helpline.
Storage
Store the machine indoors at room temperature. Do not use or store below 37.4°F (3°C).
Warranty and Support
2 Year Limited Warranty
Your Dyson machine is warranted against original defects in materials and workmanship for 2 years from the date of purchase for normal domestic use.
What is covered: Labor and parts for proper operating condition.
What is not covered: Unauthorized dealer purchases, misuse, lack of maintenance, commercial use, use of non-Dyson parts, external factors (weather, power surges), unauthorized repairs, normal wear and tear, blockages, battery age reduction, damage from incorrect use.
