Follow these steps to assemble your Dyson vacuum cleaner:
- Connect the wand to the main body of the vacuum. You will hear a [click].

Maintenance and Care
Washing the Filter Unit
The filter unit requires washing at least once a month.

Important Safety Instructions
WARNING: Before using this appliance, read all instructions and cautionary markings in this manual and on the appliance.
Basic precautions should always be followed:
- This appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience, unless supervised.
- Do not allow children to use the appliance as a toy. Supervise children closely.
- Use only as described in the Dyson User Manual. Do not perform maintenance not shown or advised by Dyson.
- Suitable for dry locations only. Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
- Do not handle the plug or appliance with wet hands.
- Do not use with a damaged cable or plug. If damaged, contact Dyson for replacement.
- If the appliance is not working correctly, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, do not use and contact the Dyson Helpline.
- Contact Dyson Helpline for service or repair. Do not disassemble; incorrect reassembly may cause electric shock or fire.
- Do not stretch or strain the cable. Keep away from heated surfaces. Avoid sharp edges and traffic areas. Do not run the appliance over the cable.
- To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cable. Extension cables are not recommended.
- Do not pick up water or liquids.
- Do not pick up flammable or combustible liquids (e.g., petrol) or use in areas where vapours may be present.
- Do not pick up anything burning or smoking (e.g., cigarettes, hot ashes).
- Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and body parts away from openings and moving parts (like the brush bar). Do not point tools at eyes or ears or put them in your mouth.
- Do not put objects into openings. Do not use with blocked openings.
- Use only Dyson recommended accessories and replacement parts.
- Do not use without the clear bin and filter(s) in place.
- Unplug the charger when not in use for extended periods.
- Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
- Do not install, charge, or use outdoors, in bathrooms, or near pools. Do not use on wet surfaces or expose to moisture, rain, or snow.
- Use only specified Dyson chargers (Part Number 217160 or 270576) and Dyson batteries.
- FIRE WARNING: Do not place near cookers or hot surfaces. Do not incinerate. The battery may catch fire or explode.
- Always turn the appliance 'OFF' before connecting or disconnecting the motorised brush bar.
- FIRE WARNING: Do not apply fragrances or scented products to the filter, as they can be flammable.

Using Your Machine
Power Modes
Select the appropriate suction mode for your cleaning task:
- Boost Suction: Maximum power for deep cleaning.
- Suction Mode 2: Balanced power for general cleaning.
- Suction Mode 1: Quieter, longer-lasting power for lighter tasks.

Recharging
Recharging on the Dock
Place the machine into the docking station and plug in the charger to charge the battery.

- Charging, low charge: One light pulsing.
- Charging, medium charge: Two lights pulsing.

Filter and Blockage Indicator LEDs
- Blockage indicator: Illuminates when a blockage is detected.
- Filter unit requires washing: Light illuminates continuously.
- Filter unit not fitted correctly: Light flashes intermittently.

Emptying the Clear Bin
Empty the bin when the dirt reaches the MAX line. Do not overfill.
- Ensure the appliance is disconnected from the charger.
- Remove the wand by pressing the red wand release button and pulling away.
- Hold the bin downwards and firmly push the red bin release button. The bin base will open to release the dirt.
- To minimise dust contact, encase the bin in a dust-proof bag before emptying.

Looking for Blockages
The motor pulses and the blockage indicator LED illuminates when a blockage occurs.
- Ensure the appliance is disconnected from the charger before checking.
- Beware of sharp objects.
- To check the main body, remove the clear bin and look for obstructions.
- If the cleaner head is blocked, you may need to remove the brush bar using a coin to unlock the fastener. Remove the obstruction, then replace and secure the brush bar.
- Carbon fibre brushes may cause minor skin irritation; wash hands after handling.
- Refit all parts securely before use. Clearing blockages is not covered by the Dyson guarantee.

Cleaning the Clear Bin (Optional)
- Follow the 'Emptying the Clear Bin' instructions.
- Press the red button on the bin runner to release the bin and slide it off.
- Clean the clear bin with a damp cloth only. Ensure it and its seals are completely dry before refitting.
- To refit: Insert the spine onto the bin runner and push the bin base upwards until it clicks into place.
- The clear bin is not dishwasher safe. Do not use detergents, polishes, or air fresheners.
Washing the Filter Unit (Detailed)
The LCD display will alert you when the filter unit needs washing. Wash at least once a month or when alerted.
- Remove the filter unit by twisting anticlockwise to the open position and gently pulling away.
- Wash the inside of the filter unit first: hold it upright under a cold water tap and agitate using a rotating motion.
- Wash the outside: fill the unit with cold water, place your hand over the open end, and shake gently.
- Repeat washing until the water runs clear.
- Gently tap to remove excess water and leave to dry with the open end facing up.
- Leave the filter unit to dry completely for a minimum of 24 hours.
- Check that the filter unit is completely dry.
- To refit, return the filter unit to the open position and twist clockwise until it clicks into place.
- The filter unit may require more frequent washing if vacuuming fine dust or using Boost mode.
- Do not put any part of your machine in a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, oven, microwave, or near a naked flame.
Clearing Obstructions
Direct Drive Cleaner Head: Clearing Obstructions
Follow these steps to clear blockages in the direct drive cleaner head:
- Turn the appliance OFF.
- Unlock the fastener using a coin.
- Slide the brush bar out of the cleaner head and remove any obstruction.
- Replace the brush bar and secure it by tightening the fastener. Ensure it is fixed firmly before operating.

Mini Motorised Tool: Clearing Obstructions
Follow these steps to clear blockages in the mini motorised tool:
- Turn the appliance OFF.
- Unlock the fastener using a coin.
- Slide the brush bar out of the tool and remove any obstruction.
- Replace the brush bar and secure it by tightening the fastener. Ensure it is fixed firmly before operating.

Using Your Dyson Machine
Please read the 'Important Safety Instructions' in your Dyson User Manual before proceeding.
Installing Your Docking Station
- Unpack the docking station, charger, and installation leaflet.
- Choose a suitable location, ensuring no pipework, cables, or ductwork is behind the mounting point.
- Follow the instructions on the installation leaflet.
- Click tools into place on the docking station.
- Place the machine into the docking station.
- Plug the charger into the mains and switch on if necessary to charge the battery.
- It is important to fully charge your machine before first use and after every use.
- The docking station must be mounted according to regulations and applicable codes/standards.
- Dyson recommends using protective clothing, eyewear, and materials during installation.
Using Your Machine
- Remove the appliance from the docking station.
- Check that the underside of the cleaner head or tool is clean and free from foreign objects.
- Before vacuuming, check manufacturer's recommended cleaning instructions for your flooring.
- The brush bar may damage certain carpet types or cause fuzzing. If this occurs, vacuum without the motorised floor tool and consult your flooring manufacturer.
Emptying Your Clear Bin
- Empty as soon as dirt reaches the MAX line; do not overfill. Overfilling can cause dirt to reach the filter, requiring more frequent maintenance.
- Ensure the appliance is disconnected from the charger before emptying. Do not pull the 'ON' trigger.
- The 'ON' trigger cannot be operated while the clear bin is open for emptying.
- Remove the wand by pressing the red wand release button and pulling away from the bin.
- To release dirt: Hold the appliance with the bin downwards. Firmly push the red bin release button. The bin will slide down, cleaning the shroud, and the bin base will open. The bin base will not open if the red button is not pushed fully.
- To minimise dust/allergen contact, encase the clear bin tightly in a dust-proof bag before emptying. Remove carefully, seal the bag, and dispose as normal.
Cleaning the Clear Bin (Optional)
- Follow instructions in 'Emptying the Clear Bin'.
- Press the red button on the bin runner to release the bin and slide it off.
- Clean the clear bin with a damp cloth only. Ensure it and its seals are completely dry before refitting.
- To refit: Insert the spine onto the bin runner. Close the bin by pushing the base upwards until it clicks into place.
- The clear bin is not dishwasher safe. Do not use detergents, polishes, or air fresheners.
Filter and Blockage Indicator LEDs
Your appliance has indicator lights for maintenance:
- Filter indicator flashes intermittently: Filter unit not fitted correctly. Refit according to 'Washing the filter unit' section.
- Filter indicator lights continuously: Filter unit needs washing. Follow 'Washing the filter unit' section.
- Blockage Indicator LED lights: There is a blockage. Follow 'Looking for blockages' section.
Washable Parts

Blockages - Automatic Cut-Out
- The appliance is fitted with an automatic cut-out. If a part becomes blocked, the appliance may cut out after the motor pulses several times, and the blockage indicator LED will illuminate.
- Leave to cool down before looking for blockages.
- Ensure the appliance is disconnected from the charger before looking for blockages to avoid personal injury.
- Make sure all blockages are clear and parts are refitted securely before using the machine.
- Clearing blockages is not covered by your Dyson guarantee.
Looking for Blockages

- If the cleaner head is blocked: You may need to remove the brush bar. Use a coin to unlock the fastener, slide the brush bar out, and remove the obstruction. Replace the brush bar and secure it by tightening the fastener. Ensure it is fixed firmly before operating.
- This machine has carbon fibre brushes. Take care when contacting them, as they may cause minor skin irritation. Wash your hands after handling the brushes.
- Refit all parts securely before using.
- Clearing blockages is not covered by your Dyson guarantee.
Charging and Storing
- The appliance will switch 'OFF' if the battery temperature is below 3°C (37.4°F) to protect the motor and battery. Do not charge and then store in an area below 3°C.
- To prolong battery life, avoid recharging immediately after a full discharge. Allow to cool for a few minutes.
- Avoid using the machine with the battery flush to a surface to help it run cooler and prolong battery life.
Battery Safety Instructions
- If the battery needs replacing, contact the Dyson Helpline.
- Use only specified Dyson chargers (Part Number 217160 or 270576) and Dyson batteries.
- The battery is a sealed unit. In the unlikely event of liquid leakage:
- Skin contact: Can cause irritation. Wash with soap and water.
- Inhalation: Can cause respiratory irritation. Expose to fresh air and seek medical advice.
- Eye contact: Can cause irritation. Flush eyes thoroughly with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
- Disposal: Wear gloves to handle the battery and dispose of immediately according to local ordinances or regulations.
- CAUTION: The battery may present a risk of fire or chemical burn if mistreated. Do not short contacts, heat above 60°C (140°F), or incinerate. Keep away from children. Do not disassemble or dispose of in fire.

The battery should be removed from the machine before disposal. Recycle or dispose of the battery and exhausted filter unit in accordance with local ordinances or regulations.

Australian Consumer Law
In addition to Dyson guarantee rights, Dyson machines come with statutory guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded. You are also entitled to repair or replacement if the machine fails to be of acceptable quality and the failure is not major.
New Zealand Consumer Law
Under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, if the product is not of acceptable quality but the defect is not substantial, Dyson may choose to repair or replace it. If repair is difficult, Dyson may provide a refund. If a defect is substantial or cannot be fixed, you can ask for a refund, replacement, or compensation for reduced value. You are also entitled to compensation for reasonably foreseeable loss caused by a substantial defect.

What is Covered
- Repair or replacement of your Dyson machine (at Dyson's discretion) if found defective due to faulty materials, workmanship, or function within two years of purchase or delivery. If a part is unavailable or out of manufacture, Dyson will replace it with a functional part.
- This guarantee is valid only if the machine is used in the country of purchase.
What is Not Covered
Dyson shall not be liable for costs of repair or replacement incurred as a result of:
- Accidental damage, negligent use or care, misuse, neglect, careless operation not in accordance with the User Manual.
- Use for anything other than normal domestic purposes in the country of purchase.
- Use of parts not assembled or installed according to Dyson instructions.
- Use of parts and accessories other than those produced or recommended by Dyson.
- Repairs or alterations carried out by parties other than Dyson or its authorised agents.
- Damage from external sources (transit, weather, power outages, surges).
- Failures caused by circumstances outside Dyson's control.
- Blockages (refer to 'Looking for blockages' section).
- Normal wear and tear (e.g., fuse, brush bar).
- Use on rubble, ash, plaster.
- Reduction in battery discharge time due to battery age or use (cordless machines only).

Other Terms Relating to the Dyson Guarantee
- The Dyson guarantee becomes effective from the date of purchase.
- All work will be carried out by Dyson Appliances (Aust.) Pty Limited, Dyson New Zealand Limited (NZ), or their authorised agents.
- Any parts replaced by Dyson or its service agents become the property of Dyson.
- Proof of purchase is required to make a claim under the Dyson guarantee.
- Repair, replacement, and associated delivery charges (to and from Dyson) will be at no cost to you under the Dyson guarantee.
