Important Notices
Note: Installation must only be performed by authorized and specialized personnel!
Caution: Electrostatic discharge (ESD)! Electronic components could become damaged. Ground yourself using a wrist strap or take other suitable actions.
Danger: Live components and stripped cable! Risk of injury from electric shock. The system must be current-free during connection work.
Functional Description
The Bosch FLM-420-NAC Signaling Device Interface Modules are designed to connect sounders, strobes, and horns to LSN fire alarm panels. Each module provides a single monitored primary line. The control of the signaling device line (NAC - Notification Appliance Circuit) is managed through polarity reversal.
Module Variants:
- FLM-420-NAC-S: For surface-mounting with housing. Installation involves mounting the base and cover plate to the wall, then connecting the module to the base. The overall module footprint is 126 mm x 126 mm (4.96 in x 4.96 in). Cable entry is via an 8 mm (0.31 in) hole, and mounting points are typically 21 mm (0.83 in) diameter circles.
- FLM-420-NAC-D: For installation on a standard DIN rail using an adapter. Installation involves attaching the adapter to the module and then clipping it onto the DIN rail, securing it in place.
Address Setting
The address is set using a rotary switch, adjusted with a flat-head screwdriver. Figure 1 on page 4 illustrates three settings: A=000 (all digits set to '1'), A=001-254 (specific digit settings), and A=CL 00 (CL and two '0's). A table on page 4 also details compatibility with various Bosch fire alarm systems (FPA-5000, FPA-1200) and LSN network components.
Address (A) | Operating Mode |
---|---|
000 | Loop/stub in LSN improved version mode with automatic addressing (T-tap system not possible) |
001-254 | Loop/stub/T-tap system in LSN improved version mode with manual addressing |
CL 00 | Loop/stub in LSN classic mode |
255-299 | Non-permitted address range (results in an error message on the fire panel). |
Connections
The module features terminals for connecting signaling devices and the LSN network:
Terminals | Function |
---|---|
IN: b | a | NAC zone input |
OUT: b | a | NAC zone output |
0 V | 24 V | External power supply |
LSN: a1- | b1+ | a2- | b2+ | LSN input / LSN output |
FAIL ac | FAIL bat | Fault external voltage / Fault external battery |
Connection diagrams are provided for "stub" (linear) configurations (Figure 9, Page 11) and "loop" configurations (Figure 10, Page 11). Figure 11 on page 11 shows the detailed terminal layout.
