Setting Up the Projector

Follow the instructions in these sections to set up your projector for use.

Projector Placement

Place the projector on a sturdy, level surface or install it using a compatible mount. Ensure adequate ventilation and position it within reach of a grounded electrical outlet.

Projector Setup and Installation Options

Projectors can be set up in four main orientations:

  • Front: Standard placement on a table in front of the screen.
  • Rear: Placement on a table behind a translucent screen.
  • Front Ceiling: Mounted upside down from a ceiling.
  • Rear Ceiling: Mounted upside down from a ceiling behind a translucent screen.

For best results, position the projector squarely in front of the center of the screen without angling it.

Projection Distance

The distance from the projector to the screen determines the image size. Use the following tables to estimate projection distance based on screen size and projector model.

Projector Connections

Connect the projector to various sources using the appropriate cables:

Installing Batteries in the Remote Control

Insert two AA batteries into the remote control, observing correct polarity.

Using the Projector on a Network

Connect your projector to a network for enhanced functionality.

Wired Network Projection

Connect the projector to your network using an Ethernet cable (100Base-TX or 10Base-T, Category 5 or better). Configure network settings via the projector's menu system (Network menu > Network Configuration > Basic/Wired LAN).

Wireless Network Projection

Install the optional Epson 802.11b/g/n wireless LAN module. Connect directly to devices (Quick mode) or via a wireless access point (Advanced mode). Network settings can be configured manually or via Quick Wireless Connection USB Key for Windows. Mobile devices can connect using the Epson iProjection app and an on-screen QR code.

Setting Up Projector Network E-Mail Alerts

Configure the projector to send email alerts for problems via the Network menu (Notifications). Enter SMTP server details and recipient email addresses.

Setting Up Monitoring Using SNMP

Enable SNMP in the Network menu (Notifications) to allow network administrators to monitor projectors using SNMP software.

Controlling a Networked Projector Using a Web Browser

Access projector settings and control functions remotely via a web browser by entering the projector's IP address. Default login credentials are provided for Web Control (EPSONWEB/admin) and Basic Control (EPSONREMOTE/guest).

Using Basic Projector Features

Operate your projector with ease using these basic features.

Turning On the Projector

Turn on connected computer or video equipment first, then press the power button on the projector or remote. The power light will turn blue once the projector is ready.

Using the Home Screen

The Home screen provides quick access to input sources, connection guides, help information, projector menus, and split-screen functionality. Access it by pressing the Home button.

Turning Off the Projector

Shut down connected computers before turning off the projector. Press the power button twice to turn off the projector. Epson's Instant Off technology allows immediate packing for transport.

Selecting the Language for the Projector Menus

Change the display language for menus and messages via the Extended menu > Language setting.

Adjusting the Image Height

Use the projector's adjustable feet to raise or lower the projected image. Release the foot release lever to extend and lock the front foot. Adjust rear feet for tilt.

Image Shape

Correct image shape distortions caused by projector placement using the horizontal keystone slider on the projector, the keystone correction buttons on the control panel, or the Quick Corner setting in the Settings menu.

Remote Control Operation

Operate the projector using the remote control within a 30° angle and up to 19.7 feet (6 m) range. Avoid bright fluorescent lights or direct sunlight.

  • Using the Remote Control as a Wireless Mouse: Connect the projector to a computer via USB-B, Computer, or HDMI port. Use the remote's arrow buttons and Enter/Esc buttons to control the cursor and perform clicks.
  • Using the Remote Control as a Pointer: Press the Pointer button to activate an on-screen pointer, controlled by the arrow buttons. Press Esc or Pointer again to clear it.

Selecting an Image Source

Switch between connected sources using the Source Search button, dedicated source buttons (Computer, HDMI/Video, USB, LAN) on the remote, or the Home screen.

Projection Modes

Select the appropriate projection mode (Front, Front/Ceiling, Rear, Rear/Ceiling) via the Extended menu > Projection setting to match the projector's orientation.

  • Changing the Projection Mode Using the Remote Control: Hold the A/V Mute button for 5-10 seconds to flip the image top-to-bottom.
  • Changing the Projection Mode Using the Menus: Use the Extended menu > Projection setting for full control.

Image Aspect Ratio

Change the displayed image's width-to-height ratio using the Aspect button on the remote control or via the Signal menu.

Color Mode

Optimize image appearance with different Color Modes (Presentation, Dynamic, Cinema, sRGB, Blackboard) selected via the Color Mode button on the remote or the Image menu.

  • Turning On Auto Iris: Enable Auto Iris in the Image menu for certain color modes to automatically optimize image brightness based on content.

Controlling the Volume with the Volume Buttons

Adjust speaker volume using the Volume buttons on the remote control or control panel. Volume is controlled independently for each input source.

Projecting a PC Free Presentation

Project content directly from a USB device without a computer. Supported file types include JPG, BMP, GIF, PNG images and Motion JPEG AVI movies.

  • Starting a PC Free Slide Show: Connect a USB device, select the USB source, and navigate to your image files. Use arrow buttons to select images or the Slideshow option.
  • Starting a PC Free Movie Presentation: Connect a USB device, select the USB source, and navigate to your movie files. Highlight the file and press Enter to play.
  • PC Free Display Options: Customize display order (Name/Date), sort order (Ascending/Descending), continuous play, screen switching time, and transition effects (None, Wipe, Dissolve, Random).

Adjusting Projector Features

Customize your projector's performance and security.

Shutting Off the Picture and Sound Temporarily

Press the A/V Mute button on the remote control to temporarily blank the screen and mute audio. Press it again to resume.

Stopping Video Action Temporarily

Press the Freeze button on the remote control to pause the current image on screen. Press Freeze again to resume.

Zooming Into and Out of Images

Use the E-Zoom +/– buttons on the remote control to zoom into specific parts of the image. Use the arrow buttons to pan the zoomed image.

Projector Security Features

Enhance security with password protection, button locks, and security cabling.

  • Password Security Types: Set passwords for Power On Protection, User's Logo Protection, and Network Protection.
  • Locking the Projector's Buttons: Prevent unauthorized operation of the control panel buttons via the Settings menu > Lock Setting. Options include Full Lock or Partial Lock (disables all buttons except power).
  • Installing a Security Cable: Use a Kensington lock or a security cable attachment point to physically secure the projector.

Projector Identification System for Multiple Projector Control

Operate multiple projectors with a single remote by assigning unique IDs to each projector and the remote control. Set projector IDs via the Extended menu > Projector ID. Match the remote control ID to a specific projector by holding the ID button and pressing the corresponding numeric button.

Projecting Two Images Simultaneously

Use the Split button on the remote control to display two images side-by-side. Configure source selection, swapping, sizing, audio, and alignment via the projector menus.

Copying Menu Settings Between Projectors

Transfer settings to another projector of the same model using a USB flash drive or a computer connection. Save settings to USB via Esc + Power, or to computer via Esc + Power and USB-B connection. Transfer settings using Menu + Power and USB-A or USB-B connection.

Projector Maintenance

Perform regular maintenance such as cleaning the lens, air filter, and vents. Replace the lamp, air filter, and remote control batteries as needed. Refer servicing of other parts to qualified personnel.

  • Cleaning the Lens: Gently wipe with lens-cleaning paper or a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with lens cleaner. Avoid spraying liquid directly on the lens.
  • Cleaning the Projector Case: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth moistened with water and mild soap.
  • Air Filter and Vent Maintenance: Clean dust from air filters and vents using a soft brush or vacuum. Replace the air filter if it is damaged or cleaning is ineffective.
  • Projector Lamp Maintenance: Replace the lamp when the projected image darkens or a replacement message appears. Follow instructions carefully, allowing the projector to cool down first. Reset the lamp timer after replacement.
  • Replacing the Remote Control Batteries: Replace AA batteries when they are depleted, observing correct polarity.

Transporting the Projector

Close the lens cover, disconnect all cables, and use a carrying case for transport. For shipping, pack the projector securely in its original packaging or equivalent materials, marked "Fragile.".
