AK-EM 100 Step by Step Installation Guide

Brand: Danfoss

1. Connect the AK-EM 100

Connect the AK-EM 100 according to the instructions provided in document RI8LQ152.

2. LAN or WAN Setup: Virtual Servers / Port Forwarding

If connecting via a LAN or WAN, set up Virtual Servers or Port Forwarding in your router. You will need to access your router's private IP address (typically 192.168.1.1) and enter your password.

Example Network Configuration:

NamePrivate IPProtocolPortsFunction
EM100192.168.1.100Both (TCP/UDP)80/80HTTP
EM100192.168.1.100Both (TCP/UDP)22/22SSH
SM xxx192.168.1.102Both (TCP/UDP)1041/1041Danfoss port
EM100 ST192.168.1.100Both (TCP/UDP)5800/5800EM 100 built in ST
EM100 ST192.168.1.100Both (TCP/UDP)5900/5900EM 100 built in ST

This setup is for one AK-EM 100 with local addresses 192.168.1.100, Service Tools, and System Manager. Ports 22, 5800, and 5900 are subject to hacker attacks that might block the EM100. These ports should be open only for service purposes.

3. Connecting to the AK-EM 100

There are three ways to connect to the AK-EM 100:

3.1 Direct Connection (Cross Cable)

A router is not required for a direct connection using a cross cable. You need to note the specific IP address of the AK-EM 100. Ensure your computer's IP address is in the same range as the AK-EM 100. Automatic IP address assignment may need to be deactivated.

Diagram Description: A screenshot of the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties" window is shown, with options to "Obtain an IP address automatically" or "Use the following IP address". The latter is selected, with fields for IP address, Subnet mask, Default gateway, and DNS server addresses.

3.2 Local Connection (LAN Networks)

When connected via LAN networks, your computer is connected to the router, and the IP address is typically in the 192.168.1.xxx range. You can access the AK-EM 100 by typing its specific IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.100) into your web browser.

Diagram Description: A network diagram illustrates a computer with IP 192.168.1.10 connected to a router with a private IP of 192.168.1.1. The router is connected to the internet, with an example public IP of 87.62.75.100. The AK-EM 100, with IP 192.168.1.100, is also shown connected to this network.

3.3 Remote Connection (WAN/Internet)

For remote connections via a WAN (Internet), the router must be configured for port forwarding to access the AK-EM 100. Refer to Section 2 of this guide for details.

4. Software Version Check

Once connected, ensure the AK-EM 100 has the latest software version. Old software versions may not always be upgradeable directly. Contact Danfoss AK Support for assistance. For example, upgrading from version 1.4.01 might require sequential upgrades to 1.4.17, then 1.5.00, and finally 1.5.01.

5. Prepare HACCP Types

This section covers preparing food types or HACCP points for use in your asset configuration. It is recommended to do this before uploading the network so customized food types can be applied to controllers.

The menu allows for creating new Food Types. Follow the instructions within the AK-EM 100 interface.

5.1 Create a New Food Type

If a required food type is not in the phrase list, add it here. The first input box is for the identifier (e.g., "bakersshop" – all lowercase, no spaces or punctuation). The second input box is for the English phrase (e.g., "Bakers Shop"). An error message will appear if the identifier already exists.

Example Input:

Identifier: negativepack

English Phrase: Negative Pack

[New Button]

5.2 Locate the New Food Type

Find the newly created Food Type in the list. Be aware that the list can be extensive, making it sometimes difficult to locate your entry.

5.3 Verify the New Food Type

Confirm that the new Food Type appears correctly in the list.

5.4 Configure Temperature Ranges

After creating a Food Type, configure its high and low temperature ranges. All Food Types will be available in the asset configuration. Consider if HACCP points are needed beyond temperature, such as for pressure/temperature in packs.

Food Types Configuration Table Example:

Food TypeLow TempHigh TempAction
Dairy1.04.0[Delete Button]
Fresh Fish-1.01.0[Delete Button]
Fresh Meat-2.00.0[Delete Button]
Frozen Food-21.0-18.0[Delete Button]
Ice Cream-24.0-21.0[Delete Button]
Produce1.04.0[Delete Button]
Generico Refrigerado0.06.0[Delete Button]
Generico CONGELADO-21.0-18.0[Delete Button]
Central Congelados-37.0-30.0[Delete Button]
Central Refrigerados-16.0-8.0[Delete Button]
Obradores12.016.0[Delete Button]
Agua Condensacion24.027.0[Delete Button]

For large installations, it is advisable to create generic food types for frozen and refrigerated food. This saves time during asset configuration as you can copy settings from one controller to many within the same temperature range. Customized food types can be created later.

6. Prepare Enumeration for Controllers

Enumeration translates controller parameter numbers into text, aiding in displaying controller status. Enumeration phrases can be translated or new ones created (e.g., compressor/condenser status in AK-PC controllers). Refer to Appendix A for more details.

7. Prepare Full Commissioning of AKA 245 and AK-SM 720/AK-SM 350

Ensure successful connection with the AK-EM 100 and avoid multiple network uploads by checking the following points with the gateways (AKA & SM):

8. Set Up Commissioning Tool Box in AK-EM 100

Upload the network(s) to the AK-EM 100. Verify IP addresses or serial connections to gateways (AKA/SM) and ensure the following information is correct:

Diagram Description: Two configuration windows are shown. The first, "Gateway Details" for "AKA245", shows fields for Name Of Process, Gateway Type, Language (English), Network, PC Net, Format Date:Time, Destination Name, Pass Code, Account: Password, Connection Type (Serial on /dev/ttyS1), Baud Rate (38400), and IP number:port. Buttons for New, Delete, Save are present. The second, "Gateway Details" for "System Manager", shows similar fields with Language (Spanish), Destination Name (EM100), Pass Code (123), Connection Type (Ethernet), Baud Rate (38400), and IP number:port (192.168.1.21:1041). A note indicates this is the IP address for SM. Buttons for New, Delete, Save are present.

After settings are complete, start the network upload. This process may take time depending on the number and type of controllers.

Please remember to always Start Network Comms after uploading the network.

9. Asset Configuration

Asset configuration is crucial for a good end-user experience. It involves setting up various points in the controllers. It is recommended to create a list of all uploaded controller types.

Key configuration points include:

Diagram Description: An example of Asset Configuration for an EKC 414A is shown, with columns for Display Name, Setting, HACCP, Trend, Asset Details, Enumeration, and Switch. Many entries have checkboxes or text values.

Once a controller is configured, its settings can be saved to a file and restored to other AK-EM 100 projects. Settings can also be copied between controllers.

9.1 Back-up of an Asset (Controller Type)

You can create a back-up file containing all configured settings.

Diagram Description: A "Save" button is shown next to a text field labeled "AK2_EKC414A", with a note that the name will be automatically saved with the code number & SW version.

The same controller connected to an AKA245 or SM will differ for the AK-EM 100. It is important to use a memorable file name. File names cannot be changed later in Windows without potentially causing issues when restoring.

9.2 Restore from File to a Specific Controller

To use your files on other AK-EM 100 units, you must first upload the files from your computer.

Diagram Description: A "Download" button is shown next to a dropdown list containing "AK2_EKC414A", and another "Download" button.

9.3 Copy an Asset to Several Controllers

Settings can be copied from one asset to multiple others, though this may take time.

Diagram Description: A "Copy" interface shows options to "Select Asset" and "Select column(s) to copy" (e.g., All Columns, Display Name, HACCP, Trend, Asset Details, Enumeration, Switch) and "Select destination(s)" (a list of controller addresses). A "Copy" button is present.

Typically, controller types have identical asset configurations for frozen or refrigerated food. All settings can be copied, then differentiated by Food Types (HACCP). For AK2 controllers connected to SM, different "files" exist in AK-EM 100 based on application (e.g., AK-PC 840 with 4 vs. 5 compressors). Copying between such controllers is not recommended as parameters may be corrupted. If a configuration changes in one controller, the network may need re-uploading.

10. MIMICS

This chapter covers creating mimics, which can be complex as users may have different approaches. This guide provides general guidance. For more details, consult the Commissioning Guide for AK-EM 100 (RC8BX202).

10.1 Pictures

Pictures must be uploaded from a computer. Both background and general pictures can be used. Picture size depends on screen resolution, with no single predefined size. Examples of screen resolution and corresponding image resolution are provided:

10.2 Templates

Templates save time when working with controllers. They are based on parameter names and can be used for different controller types (not possible in AKM). One template can serve multiple controllers. Refer to Appendix B for more on templates.

There are two types of templates:

In release 1.5.01, factory templates are primarily in English and may not work in non-English countries. AKCs & AK2 controllers upload in the preferred language, making factory default mimics unusable.

10.3 Mimics

The AK-EM 100 supports two types of mimics:

10.4 Values for Mimics & Templates

Graphical tools enhance mimics:

Sub-mimics can only be linked from parameters, not object templates. When using object templates, linking Basic Details from them is the best approach.

11. ALARM REASONS (MANAGEMENT)

Alarm Reasons are used to receive and customize alarm texts from controllers. Configuration is done via the Administration menu.

There are two types of reasons (alarms):

Example Table:

Raw ReasonsStandard Reason
493 High t.alarmTemp. aire ALTA
479 High temp.Temp. aire ALTA
503 High Temp airTemp. aire ALTA

Only alarms received in the AK-EM 100 can be assigned to a Standard Reason and translated. Backed-up texts remain when restoring a file to another AK-EM 100.

12. SUMMARY-BACKUP

After full setup, a project backup is recommended. The current release (1.5.01) performs a complete backup of the unit, including MIMICS, ASSET CONFIGURATION, ALARMS & REASONS, ENUMERATION, CONTROLLERS LIST, and HACCP.

Please check HACCP configuration carefully after restoring a project, as some food types may be lost. Backing up the first site and using it for other sites with similar configurations is a good practice.

Appendix A – ENUMERATION

Enumeration translates numbers into text, providing an easy way for end-users to view values. This is useful for displaying controller status, such as for AK-PC 840.

Example Equivalences for AK-PC 840:

AK-PC Neutral Zones:

NumberStatus
0Po Error
1Zona --
2Zona -
3Zona Neutra
4Zona +
5Zona ++

AK-PC Estado Compr. (Compressor Status):

NumberStatus
0Arranque
1Parado
11En Marcha
2Manual
3Alarma
4Reinicio
5Pausa

The Asset Configuration parameters affected by enumeration are shown in a table, linking Display Name, Setting, HACCP, Trend, Asset Details, Enumeration, and Switch.

Diagram Description: A diagram shows a mimic displaying various parameters like "Zona Actual", "Presion Baja", "Ta Aspiración", "Capac. Actual", "Capac. Requerida", "Presion Alta", "Ta Descarga", and compressor statuses (C1-C5) with their states (Pausa, En Marcha).

Appendix B – MIMIC and OBJECTS TEMPLATES

The AK-EM 100 supports two types of templates: Object Templates and Mimic Templates.

B.1 Object TEMPLATES

Object templates do not include pictures but can incorporate values, alarms, dynamic values, and links. They save setup time and can be used across various controller types (e.g., EKC 202D, EKC 414A, AK-CC 550).

Values in templates are based on parameter names from Asset Configuration. The percentage symbol (%) can be used as a wildcard.

Example: An object named "AK1-AK2 EKC Generic" is created to display temperatures, alarms, and defrost status for EKC controllers.

Diagram Description: A visual shows how to access "Basic Asset Details" via a right-click, and other functions (HACCP, Main Switch, etc.) via a left-click. Another diagram shows the "Template Editor" interface, where an object template can be edited.

Diagram Description: Mimics for "Air Temperature", "Alarm", and "Defrost Status" are shown. "Defrost Status" uses an icon to represent the parameter for different controllers.

B.2 Mimic Templates

Mimic templates are similar to object templates but include pictures for a more user-friendly experience. The mimic library is primarily for English language controllers.

Diagram Description: An interface shows how to access the "Store Mimic" and "Edit..." functions. Another shows the "Mimic Templates list", displaying various controller-specific mimic templates.

Diagram Description: A mimic template for "AKC11xA Room" is shown, with parameters created similarly to object templates. The process of creating a new Mimic for each controller and linking it to the controller mimic is illustrated.

Diagram Description: An interface shows selecting the correct parameter and mimic from a dropdown list.

Appendix C – Multivalue

Multivalue is used to display different icons or pictures for different values, providing an end-user overview of the controller. A parameter must first be included.

Diagram Description: A "Configure" window shows how to select a parameter like "EKC State" to display.

Each state needs to be assigned an icon. The "EKC State" example shows states like "Cooling", "Defrost", and "switch" being assigned icons.

Diagram Description: A final view shows the values for each status, with options to "Show" the assigned icon.
