Precautions
This section details important precautions for using the watch to ensure its longevity and proper function. It covers water resistance levels, care for different band materials (resin, leather, metal), and warnings regarding temperature extremes, magnetism, and electrostatic discharge.
Water Resistance: Watches marked 'WATER RESIST' or 'WATER RESISTANT' offer varying levels of protection. Avoid operating buttons underwater, exposure to high temperatures (pools, saunas), soaps, and detergents. For seawater exposure, rinse with fresh water. Periodic gasket replacement and professional checks during battery replacement are recommended.
Band Care: Keep bands clean to prevent skin irritation and deterioration. Leather bands should be dried thoroughly and kept out of direct sunlight. Metal components require cleaning to prevent rust.
Temperature: Avoid extreme temperatures (hot or cold) as they can affect accuracy and cause malfunctions. High temperatures can also affect LCD readability.
Impact: While designed for daily use, strong impacts can cause malfunction. Shock-resistant models offer greater durability.
Magnetism & Electrostatic Charge: Strong magnetism or electrostatic discharge can cause incorrect time display or damage electronic components.
Chemicals: Avoid contact with solvents, oils, paints, and certain cosmetics, as they can damage the watch's case, band, or other parts.
Storage: Store the watch in a cool, dry place after wiping it clean of dirt, sweat, and moisture.
User Maintenance
Regular cleaning and care are essential for maintaining the watch's performance and appearance. Wipe the watch and band regularly with a soft cloth to remove dirt, sweat, and moisture. Rinse with fresh water after exposure to seawater or mud. For metal bands, use a soft toothbrush with mild detergent. Resin bands can be washed with water and dried. Leather bands should be wiped clean. Periodically operate buttons and the crown to ensure proper function.
Dangers of Poor Watch Care: Neglecting cleaning can lead to rust on metal parts, causing sharp edges or band pin issues. Sweat and dirt can cause premature wear on resin components and skin irritation. Individuals with sensitive skin should maintain extra cleanliness.
