Pursuant to art. 26 of Legislative Decree of March 14, 2014, no. 49 “Implementation of Directive 2012/19/EU on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)”. The symbol of the crossed-out waste bin on the equipment or packaging indicates that the product must be collected separately from other waste at the end of its life. The user must therefore take the discarded equipment to special municipal centers for separate collection of electrical and electronic waste. Instead of disposing of the equipment yourself, it can also be returned to the point of sale when purchasing a new item of a similar type. In electronics stores with a sales area of at least 400 m², it is also possible to return discarded electronic products smaller than 25 cm free of charge, without any obligation to purchase. The correct separate collection of discarded electronic equipment for recycling, treatment, and environmentally sound disposal helps to prevent possible negative consequences for the environment and health and promotes the reuse and/or recycling of the materials from which the equipment is made.
