Important Notes

Warning: Tigertronics has not verified the accuracy of all radio wiring information provided here. This information is for reference only and is NOT intended to replace the jumper installation procedure in the "Connecting The Radio" section of the SignaLink Installation Manual. It is essential that you double-check this information against your radio's manual before doing the actual installation. While it is fairly simple to install the SignaLink, it is possible to DAMAGE YOUR RADIO or the SignaLink by incorrectly installing it!

• SignaLink USB Users: The SignaLink USB is always powered by the computer's USB jack. When installing jumpers, disregard the PWR jumper (do NOT install it!). All other jumper settings are the same. Installing the PWR jumper mistakenly will not affect operation as this pin is not internally connected.
• Select The Correct Diagram: When viewing jumper settings, BE CERTAIN THAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE CORRECT DIAGRAM for the radio connector you will be using. Different jumper settings may apply for Mic, Data, and Accessory Port connectors.
• RJ-45 Mic Connectors: There is a lack of standardization in how radio manufacturers number RJ-45 mic connectors. Tigertronics numbers connectors according to the dominant industry standard (1-8). Icom and Radio Shack follow this, but Kenwood, Yaesu, and others do not. Verify your mic connector numbering to avoid reversing connections.
• PTT: Verify in your radio manual that radio PTT requirements do not exceed SignaLink keying circuit specifications and that the PTT line is "Grounded" to make the radio transmit. Contact Technical Support if your radio exceeds specifications or requires other keying arrangements.
• POWER: The SignaLink USB is always powered by the computer's USB jack. Disregard the PWR jumper when installing jumpers for SignaLink USB.
• Jumper Wire Color: Jumper wires in diagrams are for illustrative purposes only; their color means nothing. Actual jumper wires included with SignaLink are all the same color.
• RECEIVE AUDIO / SPEAKER AUDIO: Receive Audio is available on Mic, Data, and Accessory Port connectors of most radios. If not shown in jumper settings for your radio, consult your radio manual. If unavailable, connect a mono cable between your radio's External Speaker or headphone jack and the "Speaker" jack on the back of the SignaLink.

Tigertronics SignaLink Combos

The Tigertronics SL-USB SignaLink is sold as a combo package including the SignaLink USB unit, one Radio Cable, one USB Cable, one software disc, jumper wires, and instructions. Cables are also available separately.

ADI Radios

Plug-N-Play Module Installation Instructions

Installation of Plug & Play jumper modules is simple, but care is needed to avoid bending pins, which can damage the module or SignaLink socket. Broken pins or damage due to incorrect installation are not covered under warranty. Always verify you are installing the correct module for your radio and cable, and ensure correct orientation to prevent damage.

Module Insertion

Place the jumper module lightly on the SignaLink's JP1 jumper socket, aligning the notch on the module (white board outline) with the notch on the SignaLink's circuit board. Ensure all pins are centered in the socket holes, then gently press down evenly until it is seated securely. Avoid pressing on any jumper pins mounted on top of the module.

Special Jumpers

Some jumper modules have special jumpers that may need to be set for your radio (e.g., PTT Configuration Jumper for SLMOD13K). Refer to the jumper notes in the compatible radio links for details.

Module Removal

To remove the jumper module, pull it straight out carefully to avoid bending pins. Grip the module firmly with pliers or a suitable tool. A flat blade screwdriver can be used by slowly prying up on both ends a little at a time until it is out. This method is acceptable ONLY if you lift each end up just slightly, going back and forth, to avoid bending pins or putting pressure on circuit board parts.

Note: Each jumper module is inspected before packaging to ensure straight pins and perfect mechanical condition. High quality gold-plated pin strip headers are used, designed for repeated plugging into the SignaLink circuit board. However, it is crucial that pins do not become bent during installation or removal, as this is not covered under warranty. Damaged sockets require factory repair and purchase of a new jumper module.
