WARNING:

Power Cord and Plug

This air conditioner is equipped with an LCDI (Leakage Current Detection and Interruption) power cord and plug, as required by US National Electric Code 440.65. This cord has a shielded flexible cord with no termination on the load side and an LCDI attachment plug on the line side. The LCDI power cord and plug will remove the supply source via electrical disconnect (circuit trip) if the nominal current leakage exceeds a predetermined value. The cord will remain de-energized until manually reset. This is intended to reduce the risk of fire.

The cord shields are not grounded and must be considered a shock hazard if exposed. The cord shield must not be connected to ground or any exposed metal.

Testing the LCDI Plug:

  1. Plug the power cord into a wall outlet; the LED light will turn on.
  2. Press the TEST button; the circuit should trip, cutting power, and the LED light will turn off.
  3. Press the RESET button to restore power; the LED light will turn on.

If the unit can still be turned on after pressing the TEST button, current leakage has been detected. Do not use the air conditioner or attempt to reset the LCDI Plug. Contact Customer Service.

WARNING:

  • DO NOT press the TEST button while the air conditioner is operating.
  • The TEST and RESET buttons are not "ON" and "OFF" switches.
  • The cord and plug are not intended for protection of externally connected loads or supply circuits.
  • The cord and plug are intended for indoor use only.

Installation

Window Preparation

Read all instructions before installing. Two people are recommended. If a new electrical outlet is required, have it installed by a qualified electrician. Check window dimensions to ensure the air conditioner fits. This unit is designed for standard double-hung windows. Ensure the window is in good condition and can firmly hold screws. Make repairs if necessary.

Storm Window Requirements

A storm window frame may prevent proper tilting for drainage. To adjust, attach a board or piece of wood to the sill. The board/wood should have a depth of at least 1 1/2 " and be approximately 1/2 " higher than the storm window frame to allow for proper drainage (See FIG. 2).

FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 diagrams illustrate window preparation and adjustments for storm windows, showing measurements for tilting and board placement.

Prior to Installing the Air Conditioner

  1. Check for airflow obstructions outside (shrubs, trees) and inside (curtains, drapes, blinds).
  2. Verify the electrical outlet matches the unit's serial nameplate and is close enough for the power cord.
  3. Carefully unpack the air conditioner, protecting the floor. Two people should move the unit.

CAUTION: Be careful to avoid cuts from sharp metal edges and aluminum fins on coils when handling the unit.

Top Rail Installation

NOTE: The Top Rail and Side Panels are offset to provide a rear pitch of 5/16" for condensation utilization and drainage. This pitch must be maintained even without side panels.

  1. Attach the top rail to the top of the outer case using four short screws.

Diagram shows attaching the top mounting rail to the air conditioner with screws.

Curtain Installation

  1. Insert side curtains into the upper and lower rails of the air conditioner. Fasten curtains to the unit with short screws.
  2. Slide the free end of the curtain into the side panel. The flange for securing to the window sill should face the room.
  3. Once properly sized, remove the backing from the adhesive tape.

Diagram illustrates the installation of side curtains and securing them with screws and locks.

Placing the Unit Inside a Normal Window

  1. Center the unit in the window. Position the front edge of the bottom rail against the back edge of the sill.
  2. Lower the window so the front edge of the top rail is in front of the window. Ensure the unit tilts slightly outward.
  3. Extend the left and right curtains to the window width.
  4. Place the curtain lock between the curtain extensions and the window sill, and drive long screws through the lock into the sill.
  5. Secure the left and right flanges with long screws on the bottom sides of the curtain.
  6. Drive long screws through the upper frame holes into the window sash.
  7. Attach the sash lock between the upper and lower sashes using long screws (2 per side).
  8. Cut the foam seal to window width and insert it between the glass and window to prevent air and insect entry.
  9. Optionally, install the insert strip between the air conditioner and window sill for added insulation.

Diagram shows the correct tilting angle of the air conditioner in the window (1/4" tilt).

Remove the Air Conditioner from the Window (End of Season)

  1. Turn off the air conditioner and disconnect the power cord.
  2. Remove the sash seal and unscrew the sash lock.
  3. Remove screws from the frame and frame lock.
  4. Slide the side panels into the frame.
  5. Grip the air conditioner firmly, raise the sash, and carefully tilt the unit backward to drain condensation water. Avoid spilling water while lifting.
  6. Store parts with the air conditioner in the box.

Cool Mode

  • Turn the MODE selector clockwise to select HIGH COOL, MED COOL, or LOW COOL.
  • Turn the TEMPERATURE selector clockwise for higher cool settings or counter-clockwise for lower cool settings.
  • Turn the MODE selector to OFF to turn off the unit.

Fan Mode

  • Turn the MODE selector counter-clockwise to select HIGH FAN, MED FAN, or LOW FAN.
  • Turn the MODE selector to OFF to turn off the unit.

Note: The TEMPERATURE selector does not function in fan mode.

Diagram shows the control panel with TEMPERATURE and MODE selectors.

Freezing Conditions: This is a cooling-only air conditioner and is not designed for freezing outdoor conditions. Do not use it in freezing outdoor conditions.

Loss of Power Protection: If power is lost or interrupted, the air conditioner will automatically restart in the last used setting. There is a protective time delay (approx. 3 minutes) to prevent compressor overload.

Air Direction: Use the lever on the front air vents to adjust airflow direction (left or right). The lever is located on the lower left and right side of the air vent.

Use and Care

Care and Cleaning

Clean your air conditioner regularly to maintain its appearance and minimize dust buildup.

Air Filter Cleaning

Check the air filter at least monthly. Trapped particles can reduce airflow and cause frost buildup on cooling coils.

  1. Remove the filter by sliding it out from the front right side of the unit (See FIG. 5).
  2. Wash the filter with liquid dish soap and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and gently shake off excess water.
  3. Allow the filter to dry completely before reinserting.
  4. Alternatively, vacuum the filter to remove dust and particles.

FIG. 5 diagram shows the air filter being removed.

Wear and Tear

To minimize wear and tear, wait at least 3 minutes before changing modes. This helps prevent compressor overheating and circuit breaker tripping.

Cabinet Cleaning

  • Unplug the air conditioner before cleaning to prevent shock or fire hazards.
  • Dust the cabinet and front panel with an oil-free cloth or wipe with a cloth dampened in warm water and mild liquid soap. Rinse with a damp cloth and wipe dry.
  • Never use harsh cleaners, wax, or polish on the cabinet front.
  • Wring excess water from the cloth before wiping around controls to prevent damage.

Winter Storage

For extended storage, remove the air conditioner from the window as per installation instructions. Cover it with plastic or place it in the original box.
