ASCO Series D386 Non-Automatic Transfer Switches
Wiring and Specifications (30-230 Amperes with Group I Controls)
General Notes
- Factory settings for DIP switches S1, S2, and S3 are detailed.
- Device symbols and designations follow NEMA Publication ICS 1-1983.
- All wiring is #16 AWG tinned, stranded copper unless otherwise noted.
- 'O' on terminal blocks indicates available field connection; '•' indicates factory connection.
- Control and accessory wiring follows ASCO Assembly Procedure GS451261.
- An Operator's Manual is supplied with each transfer switch; refer to it prior to installation and operation.
- Ground strap on the control panel is affixed to the chassis at the lower left control panel mounting stud.
- Warning: Changes to DIP switch settings may affect normal operation.
Features
- Selector Switch (SS): A three-position, momentary, spring-return-to-center switch for manual transfer to Normal and Emergency sources.
- Auxiliary Contacts (Feature 14A & 14B): Two sets of Form C contacts (1 N/O & 1 N/C each) indicating connection to Normal (14A) and Emergency (14B) sources. Rated 10 Amps, 32VDC, 480VAC.
- Indicator Lights:
- PL1 (Green LED): Indicates when the transfer switch is connected to the Normal source (Standard Feature 9A).
- PL2 (Red LED): Indicates when the transfer switch is connected to the Emergency source (Standard Feature 9B).
- Output Contacts (NR): One set of Form C contacts (1 N/O & 1 N/C) that change position upon expiration of the Normal source outage delay and reset after the unload timer (engine cool down) expires. Rated 5 Amps resistive at 28V DC or 120V AC maximum.
Optional Accessories
- ACC 72A - Serial Communications Option: RS-485 serial interface for remote monitoring and control from ASCO communications-based products. Requires specific wiring (Data+, Data-, Shield) and cable types (e.g., Belden 9842/9829 or Alpha 6202C/62220).
- ACC 6Q - Key Operated Transfer Control Switch: For transferring to Normal or Emergency. Three-position, momentary, spring-return-to-center, with key removable in the center position.
- ACC 9C - Signal Light (PL3 Green LED): Indicates Normal source availability.
- ACC 9D - Signal Light (PL4 Red LED): Indicates Emergency source availability.
- ACC 27 - Inphase Transfer Control Logic: Initiates inphase transfer of loads between live sources to prevent nuisance tripping of circuit breakers and damage to mechanical loads.
- ACC 31 - Time Delay Before Transfer: One set of Form C contacts (1 N/O & 1 N/C) that change position upon activation of a selectable time delay before transfer (LD TDBT). Delay is selectable as 0, 3, 10, or 20 seconds. Factory set at 0.
- ACC 37B - Extension Harness: 72 inches (1828mm) long, for units shipped open to accommodate customer mounting of controls and switch.
- ACC 43M - Customer Supplied Selector Switch Provisions: For customer-supplied 3-position selector switch with positions for Local Control Enable, Remote Control Transfer to Normal, and Remote Control Transfer to Emergency.
