Grundfos SB & SBA

Reliable submersible pressure pumps

Grundfos SB & SBA pumps are submersible pressure pumps for domestic applications such as private wells and rainwater tanks. Robust, noiseless and easy to install, they reliably deliver up to 3m³ flow per hour.

Both pumps are submersible multistage boosters for pumping clean water. The SB operates with an external control unit like Grundfos PM1 or PM2, while the SBA is an all-in-one solution with integrated controller.

Built for reliability

  • Noiseless operation: No noise emitted when submerged – a noiseless alternative to dry installed pumps.
  • Robust and reliable: Robust design and corrosion-resistant build of composite and stainless steel materials.
  • Energy efficient: Meets the Efficiency Index benchmark of MEI ≥0.70 for most efficient water pumps.
  • Integrated protection: Automatically stops operating in cases of overheating or dry-running, restarting when safe.

Pump Features

  • No clogging: Stainless steel strainers prevent large particles from entering the pump housing.
  • Floating inlet strainer: Optional floating suction strainer draws clean, particle-free water from just below the water surface.
  • Non-return valve: Supplied with non-return valve to avoid emptying the pipe during pump stop.

SBA: a model of simplicity

Just plug in and start pumping with the SBA, the easy to install, all-in-one pump with integrated control unit.

Ideal for rainwater harvesting

In addition to private wells, SB and SBA pumps are ideally suited for submerging in rainwater tanks, where roof run-off is collected and filtered.

Harvested rainwater is ideal for garden watering, toilet flushing, washing machines and car washing, thus saving drinking water for drinking. It reduces the risk of flooding with less pressure on the sewer at peak loads, and since it is soft water, prolongs the life of appliances.

Grundfos SB Variants

The SB pump is used with an external control. The SBA automated booster has built-in control. All SB and SBA pumps are available with an integrated suction strainer (1 mm mesh), or with side inlet/flexible suction hose with floating suction strainer (1 mm mesh).

Quick sizing

The table below provides quick sizing information for Grundfos SB and SBA pumps based on maximum head (Hgeo), horizontal length (L), and pipe diameters.

Pump Model Max. H [m] (1" pipe) Max. L [m] (1" pipe) Total hor. length [m] with 1" + 3/4"/1" + 1/2" pipes
SB(A) 3-45 at 3m³/h, 2.8 bar 15 15 20/4
10 10 22/5
5 15 33/8
5 10 35/8.5
SB(A) 3-35 at 3m³/h, 2.4 bar 15 15 46/11
10 10 48/11.5
5 15 9/2
5 10 16/17
10 15 11/3
10 10 23/5.5
5 15 25/6
5 10 36/8.5

Preconditions:

Note: All variants are available with or without a float switch. The float switch stops the pump at low water level, ensuring that surface fragments do not enter the strainer.
